a starting point for learning to breathe again
1. think about all the times you have been toxic. how have you changed your thinking and behavior since then? if you’re no longer the same person who made those mistakes, move on. you have learned your lesson.
2. water doesn’t taste as good as juice or milk or pop, but drink it ice cold and let it numb your tongue as it goes down.
3. maximize how much sunlight, moonlight and starlight you take in.
4. don’t let yourself stay stale. “I’ve always done it this way” shouldn’t be the only reason you do something.
5. when other people are talking, focus on what they’re saying, not how you’re going to reply.
6. learn something from every person you talk to.
7. only eat food, listen to music, wear clothes, hang out with people, etc., that lift your spirits and give you good vibes.
8. listen to your intuition.
9. appreciate beautiful things
10. find things to compliment every single person on.
11. listen to others’ struggles before you vent out your own
12. learn from people older than you, but don’t take their word as fact. it’s your world too; discover things for yourself.
13. don’t beat yourself up for not remembering high school math
14. forget the names of people who wronged you. they don’t matter.
15. remember the names of people who you wronged. try to make it up to them, even if they’ll never know.
16. breathe from your stomach, not your chest.
17. relax your jaw. relax your shoulders. relax your eyes.
18. it’s okay if you can’t shower today. give your skin’s oils time to replenish.
19. wash your bedsheets. they’re probably gross, and think of how nice it’ll be to sleep on clean sheets.
feel free to add on to this list!
be careful with how much you tolerate. you are teaching them how to treat you

“Did you ever feel, as though you had something inside you that was only waiting for you to give it a chance to come out? Some sort of extra power that you aren’t using - you know, like all the water that goes down the falls instead of through the turbines?”
— Aldous Huxley, Brave New World

Eras el calor de agosto en mi piel
Y ahora escucho tu voz temblando en un mensaje, solo queda tu presencia impregnada en mi. La primavera se acerca como una amenaza para recordarme la sonrisa que dejó el olvido en mi.
