I’m not a Buddie fan and don’t really “see” it, but I was fine letting those fans do what they want. I pretty much noped out of the fandom when I saw the vitriol and hate being thrown Lou’s way - it was shades of Misha hate all over again, except this time it had a lot of former Destiel shippers.

okay, so watching jensen’s pupils dilate while acting a super intimate, charged scene with misha was probably the first moment where I was really like OH.

but the longer answer? honestly just the way jensen looks at misha. like, everything about it. it’s so open and expressive and full of complexity, and there’s just so much love in it, so much longing. jensen doesn’t look at ANYONE the way he looks at misha. there’s this openness, a kind of unguardedness that misha seems to elicit in him that seems to be totally unique to their dynamic. I find this really interesting, because jensen is clearly someone who keeps himself in check and is careful with what he shows the public, but all of this composure or self-consciousness just completely goes out the window when he’s around misha which is very telling. 

I mean, look at this (and this is just the tip of the iceberg). It’s like he completely forgets everything else except him and Misha:  

for the people who say, “okay yeah, but that’s just because they’re close friends and they feel comfortable around each other”: I don’t disagree. it’s clear they’re close friends and feel incredibly comfortable in each other’s presence. but I don’t think that’s all it is. take the way J2 interact, for example. we know that jensen loves jared from the bottom of his heart, but he just doesn’t look at jared the way he looks at misha. of course he looks at him with love and affection and amusement, but it’s just different.

there is no doubting the affection and amusement in the way jensen looks at jared, but for me there’s something almost older-brotherly about it?? there’s an exasperated sort of “this human is ridiculous and I love him” about it, but there’s no tension to it. no kind of frisson. It’s easy, comfortable, full of warmth. but with misha? there’s just this electricity, this giddiness. that’s hard to put into words but that everyone around them picks up on. it’s so powerful and obvious that it’s literally the whole reason destiel was born into existence. although we can see how comfortable jensen is with misha from the way he just totally relaxes into being himself in misha’s presence, he also seems more hyped up than he does around jared, if that makes sense? like, there’s just always that giddiness to it that I talked about earlier, like he’s running on some kind of high.

LOOK at him:

RIDICULOUS. utterly ridiculous behaviour. 

I have this theory that when you’re around someone you really, really like, you live in the present in a way you don’t normally do. most of the time, you go around and yes you’re kind of in the present but you’re also thinking about that conversation you had with your flatmate last night or what you need to get at the supermarket later. often you’re looking forward to something in the future, mentally preparing yourself for other stuff. but I think that when you’re around someone you feel something so strong for, all of that shit just fades away and you just exist in their company. because there’s nowhere else you’d rather be, nowhere else you feel more comfortable. and so you don’t need to think, you just are. I feel it’s the best way I can describe the way jensen seems to exist around misha (it’s especially visible at cons, I think). around misha, jensen just is, and there’s something so beautifully uncomplicated about the connection they have.

so yeah, to sum up this ridiculously long answer that literally no one asked for, the way jensen looks at misha is absolutely what sold me on cockles. it speaks louder than any words could.

Anyway, on the topic of pictures, in this zoom call, Jensen mentioned here going on a solo road trip and taking pictures. He mentioned here that he'll be printing out those photos. I think it's an indication that he does keep photo albums and is quite sentimental with pictures. So i do believe the anniversary photo is printed.

(There are probably other printed photos of them like that boat trip and the Vatican mass, this is just the ones they've shared with us 🫣)

Yes, he does seem the sentimental type to enjoy “physical” memorabilia.

I also love that they share that feeling about Ojai.

If you think Jensen moving out and leaving Jared behind is end of j2 era. What would you call Jensen rejecting destiel out in 2026?

Like its literally an onscreen romance with his supposed lover. He must be jumping at the opportunity. But he literally rejected it. I ship neither. So there is no issue for me to accept that j2 aren't as close friends as they were.

So what would you conclude the reason behind Jensen being such rigidly against destiel and then not wanting to do a panel in the next con. As if he was still angry. It tells you something. 😂😂

Prequelgate was the end of J2. That bros4life vibe has never been the same since.

My conclusions? Jensen can’t admit to Destiel because 1) it would step on WB toes and he wants to keep them onside with regard to any future projects. Welcome to showbiz schmoozing 101. 2) Hits too close to home because all those jacting joices made Destiel jump off screen and HE has said himself when he gets into those scenes with Misha, magic happens. Destiel is Cockles fault and everyone knows it. Also, wtf does Destiel have to do with Jaytwo and Austin?

There, this was Kripke’s commentary. Dean is a white trash loser in every universe regardless of circumstances because Kripke was never able to let go of yellowing in the drawer of his desk original pitch idea that never managed to come to pass in the actual show where Dean was a one-dimensional asshole to Sam’s awesome main character. Funny, the only thing he managed to do for me with this episode was to confirm that if the brothers were not forced together by tragedy after tragedy they wouldn’t even like each other, but for 15 years this shit show tried to gaslight us into thinking that their dynamic was some sort of #relationship goals.

I wouldn’t consider that gaslighting because for those of us who really looked at the dynamics, it’s clear as day that the relationship dynamics was not what they were selling. It wasn’t great or goals worthy or normal.

I guess I’m in the minority that finds the storyline interesting. Sad, in that DEAN doesn’t feel he’s worthy of much, but interesting nonetheless.

And I find it fascinating that in Dean’s dream world, John was a good dad…but he was still dead. 🫪

I don’t understand Kripke’s thinking here. Even if we don’t follow Dean’s fantasy, the only reason Dean wouldn’t be a hunter is because his mother didn’t die.

So if he was raised by two loving parents (because there is nothing pre-Mary’s death to indicate they weren’t good, loving parents) in a middle-class family, with the level of intelligence he has, why would he become a “drifter and a loser?”

I really disagree with the assumption that if Dean didn’t have the purpose and structure of hunting, he would be a drifter and a loser. Dean is remarkably able to adapt in any situation. It’s only a couple episodes prior to this one where he seamlessly blends into the role of the production assistant on the movie set, which he really enjoys the job of as well.

Like, don’t even tell me he wouldn’t be a firefighter. Dean, whether raised as a hunter or not, helping/saving people is in his blood. He’d be a firefighter or a cop or an EMT. Something that helps people. He only dreamed he was a “loser” because of his past trauma coloring his subconscious. If he didn’t have that trauma, he wouldn’t see himself that way.

💯. I’ve read so many AU fics where Dean is a doctor/nurse/firefighter because he likes to save people. He also works so well as a teacher because he’s so good with kids. All of those careers just work because that’s who Dean is - caring and empathetic and great at getting people to open up despite his initial gruff exterior. And yeah maybe he does thrive on structure which is why the PA job suited him so well. I don’t know if the Kripke quote is deliberately missing info (like being a loser is more Dean’s perception of himself and not necessarily how he really would be), but even this early in the show it’s easy to see how layered and complex Dean is, so selling him as some sort of aimless loser is selling him very short.
