The thing about the argument in TLG y'all is that they were BOTH being crazy on account of, oh right, being closeted professional athletes under a huge amount of pressure playing a violent and famously homophobic sport while trying to keep their relationship a secret from everyone in their lives and also you know navigating the international situation for gay men and also your team sucks (either they keep losing or they're all dicks)
But yeah anyway they're both not doing well nor thinking rationally. Ilya's demanding stuff of Shane they've never talked about. Shane is letting his singlemindedness keep them locked onto a path that's hurting them both. They're not communicating they're having sex to avoid conversations. They're both falling apart because they're attempting to do something thats just too fucking difficult for almost anyone, let alone two traumatized kids with matching diagnoses
