How long would you wait for the one you love? A year? Fifteen years? Forever? Could you honestly be loyal to an unfulfilled love?
“For the one I love, I would wait an eternity. Without a doubt I’m loyal to an unfulfilled love, but that doesn’t mean there is no more love in my future. I’m just not looking for it.”
Could you ever become your own hero? Is that a role you can fulfil or is it something you look to others for?
“Hero’s a big word mate.. the only people I considered to be heroes were my father and my brothers, but since losing them I’ve been by myself. My wife and children are also gone, I don’t look to anyone for anything now.”
“She’s always been a beauty. The last family that lived here decided to move on to other things so they just kind of left her. I never could figure out why people left her alone.” Gideon grinned, “Maybe she’s haunted. That could be interesting.” He shook the man’s outstretched hand and gave him a small salute. “Gideon Henry, I’ll answer to anything. What brings you to town if you don’t mind me asking?”
“Maybe so,” Leo said, chuckling at the thought of it being haunted. “Or maybe they just couldn’t find the motivation to give her the love she needs.” he shrugged. “Pleasure to meet you Gideon. Just a change of scenery. I’ve been living in Greece for the past seventy years, decided a change was needed.”
The wolf growled at Leo when he suggested changing back. Slamming its paws onto the ground, it repeated the action a second time as it felt a pressure building in its stomach. Growling louder, the beast let out a howl as it felt the change coming over it. Bones cracking, muscles tearing and reforming. Growls slowly gave way to moans and sighs. Fur vanished as the wolf’s muscles reformed into the larger solid muscle of Griffin’s human form. After a minute or so of time, Griffin appeared in place of the wolf, heaving, sore, and in some pain. the muscles of his torso and flexes were tense, stuck in a flexing like state until his body recollected itself and he was able to relax and slowly stayed. “Ahhhh…. I’m still not used to that. However, it’s happening faster now.”
Leo remained calm at the wolf started slamming its paws on the ground, waiting until he saw the change start to happen. Taking off his jacket, he approached the now naked boy, handing the item over and offering his hand to help him up. “It’ll get easier,” he assured him. “The name’s Leo.” he added, figuring he should probably introduce himself.
He nods his head, “Looking forward to it” he tossed his towel over his shoulders, “Had a feeling, haven’t seen you around. Just get here?” he asks now, before moving forward and shaking the other’s hand. Nate knew everyone, and he had yet to meet the other. “Nathaniel Greyson, welcome to Hollow Grove, Xavier”
“As am I,” Xavier smiled, nodding at the mans next words. “Sure did,” he replied, shaking his hand in return. “Thanks,” he added. It took a few seconds for the name to register, but once it did, he smiled again. “Greyson? So you’re an Original ‘eh? I can’t say I’ve met any of you before.”
Ryan let out a laugh mixed with a relieved sigh, nodding his head lightly. “Not for a while, nah.” He held out his hand, “Awesome that you’re movin’ in, though. Welcome and all that. Hope you’ve had a good time in town so far?”
“Thanks,” Leo replied, shaking the mans hand. “It’s been alright. I’ve only been here a couple of hours so it’s just mainly been finding things to fix up the place.” he said with a shrug.
“Mike Wave. That’s a very cool name.” Elysia was resisting the incredibly strong urge to roll her eyes at her own attempts at being a comedian. She knew she should quit while she was ahead. “Oh, it’s no problem. Figured it was the least I could do for, you know, sneaking up on you like this. I’m beginning to think I’m not the best to help you with it, anyway. There might be a spell for it, though.” The words slipped out before she could stop them, but she hardly cared. If he was human, he’d just call her crazy and if he was a vampire or a werewolf, hopefully he wouldn’t care what she was.
Leo couldn’t help but laugh at her words, shaking his head. “Your humour is great, never change,” he said, still chuckling. Leo looked at her curiously when she mentioned a spell, the smile pulling at his lips again. He had met many witches over his time, and he hadn’t had a problem with any of them. “That’s okay, I’d rather not resort to spells when it comes to fixing inanimate objects.” he replied. “It’s a waste of energy. If the thing can’t be fixed manually, then it’s met the end of it’s time.”
“Welcome to town Leo.” He took the hand that was offered, reaching out to give it a shake before letting his hand drop back to his side. A small nod given in addition. For a moment he hesitates. Wondering if he should do the normal annoying neighbor routine and then excuse himself or not. No, the other werewolf deserved a warning. “I also mainly stopped by because you’re a new werewolf in town. Not long ago a vampire was killed in town very publicly. We’re dealing with it but there’s still some tensions, figured you deserved a warning. Probably not the first thing you want to hear after coming to a new place.”
“Thank you,” Leo replied, shaking Colton’s hand firmly. He raised his brows as he listened to his neighbour speak, appreciating the warning. “Understood,” he replied with a nod. “I can assure you there won’t be any hassle from me, but if there’s any way I can help let me know yeah?”
She nodded in response to his statement of gratitude. As his arms recached outside of his home, she felt relieved… no need for an invite. She did her best to feel welcoming, as she gave him a half smile and pushed her hands in her back pockets. “New to town, I suppose?”
Taking the box he smiled and set it down just inside the door. “That’s right,” he nodded, leaning against the door frame. “And yourself? How long have you been here for?”
“You’re acting all Edward Cullen-ish, and it’s making me uncomfortable.”
“.. what is an Edward Cullen?”
“I didn’t mean to break it.”
“It’s okay kiddo. It was broken anyway.”
Being spoken to like it was a person caused the wolf to top and rear its neck up as it looked at the man flatly. Something about that greeting spoke to it, but it didn’t understand just how. Another whiff of the air told it that this man was…similar to him, something of the same thing only not quite. He could smell the dirt, cut wood, and the scent of another wolf strongly now. Loosening its body up, the wolf kept its head up and eyes trained on the man as it leaned a little closer, curious. It had smelled other wolves before but it very rarely interacted with them and this one, didn’t smell too bad.
As the wolf moved closer curiously, Leo watched him back, just as curious. The more he studied him, the more he could see he must have been a young wolf. “You’re safe bud. Now how about changing back so we can properly introduce ourselves yeah?” he asked.
Gideon stood on the front porch to the old house next door to his and debated on going in through the open door. It had been years since anyone had even really looked at the house, let alone lived in it so he couldn’t hide his curiosity. He heard the voice call out to him so he took that as an invitation to walk inside. Gid could tell the man was still moving in, but he was glad someone was trying to class up the place. “Sorry, I live next door and I haven’t had a neighbor in years. Curiosity killed the cat, right?”
Leo watched the man walk inside, his words and body language not coming across as aggressive at all allowing Leo the chance to relax. “No problem. I’ve heard this place has been empty for a while,” he said, looking around. “It looks like it’s been empty too, poor old girl,” he mused before standing to introduce himself properly, holding out his hand. “Xavier Levine, but Leo works fine.”
Elysia was still a bit uncomfortable, but she managed a light laugh. At least he wasn’t treating her like she was weird, which was comforting. “It’s a fine Microwave. Does he have a name? Or should I just call him Mike for short?” she joked, internally cringing once the words had left her. “Um… I’d offer my assistance, but fixing things isn’t one of my specialties. Maybe it’s the outlet that’s broken? I thought my charger was shot until I plugged it into another outlet and it worked fine.”
As the girl played along with his lame attempt at a joke, Leo grinned, giving her a look that was a mix between amusement and slight disbelief. “Mike work’s fine, he’ll answer to that,” he replied. “Ah nah it’s okay. I don’t need help, thanks for the offer though. It’s not the outlet, well it’s not just the outlet. It’s got a lot goin’ wrong on the inside,” he said, looking back over at the item on the table.
There was a new wolf in town, he’d picked up the scent on a round through the town, making a note to check up on who it was as soon as he finished his shift. Knowing that with the tension in the town after the ball that there would be vampires that were quick to point fingers at a werewolf that had just arrived in town, looking for any excuse to let out there frustrations. Following the scent to Leo’s house once he had gotten off work he walked to the doorway. Momentary worry at seeing the door wide open dismissed when the man inside spoke. “Just stopping by to say welcome to the town. I’m Colton.”
It was normal for Xavier to be weary of strangers, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t friendly towards them either. He put up a mask most of the time, the friendly face and charming smile distracting from the fact that he was actually observing as much as possible. “Colton,” he repeated as he made his way over to the door, holding out his hand. “Nice to meet ya, the name’s Leo,” he replied.
“I can’t remember how my sister used to call me. And she’s not around to ask either. But I can totally see now where Leo comes from.” Quinton chuckled “It’s not, true, but it’s not pleasant either. My opinion.” he raised his hands up in the air as in surrender, making sure Leo understood that was only Quinton’s personal opinion. Everybody had different ones, he didn’t expect the man to agree with him “Great! I’ll turn this house into one of the most beautiful ones. After mine of course.”
“I’m sorry to hear that,” Leo replied, his smile faltering. Thinking about his own sister being gone was upsetting enough, but losing the memory of her would be unbearable. In fact losing memory of any of his family was one of the worst things he could think of. “My hair’s a lot better now than it was seventy years ago,” he chuckled. “At least I think so anyway.” he added with a shrug. “Yeah I guess so.” he agreed, chuckling at the man’s words. “I look forward to getting started.”
