Listening to Malevolent straight after TMA is so absurdly disconcerting.

In TMA, it took 22 episodes for any actual plot to become clear, and the whole show just has a really, really slow pace. Then Malevolent, where the opening scene involves hiding a body, and within just a couple of episodes multiple people are killed, numerous bodies are found, a baby is just yoinked, arson is committed, people are stabbed, and comas are had.

odysseus absolutely does present a threat to penelope if he perceives her as at all unfaithful, and i feel the unfairness of this, and i think people tend to undersell how much tension at least potentially exists between odysseus and penelope. but i'm also like. his reaction, all speculation aside, his actual reaction in the odyssey to her flirting with the suitors is delight, because he immediately ascertains that she is running a con. sorry that they're so in-sync in spite of the forces that try to drive a wedge between them, including their own misgiving hearts. sorry that they invented homophrosyne ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So since we're getting much more Archivist lore, I thought I'd share my little theory on their identity (spoilers obvs up until magp 34):

It's pretty much been confirmed at this point that the archivist is not Jon, so it's likely another archivist from the Magnus Institute. Gertrude, however, is kind of minding her business with Gerry (bless them) so we're left with very few choices. Additionally, tape recorders are a web-based manifestation, so this Archivist likely has a connection to the web as well (yes Gertrude also used tape recorders but she didn't get any specific power from them).

So which character do we know who

- Was connected to the institute

- Is a woman

- Is the right age

- Has a connection to the web

Now hear me out:

Emma Harvey.

She was likely the next in line of archivists at the institute after Gertrude since she was her main assistent, so it's very likely she would succeed Gertrude after her departure. She was confirmed in mag 167 to be insatiably curious and very predatory, hence why she would attack Sam, Gwen, and many others. She's heavily connected to the web, and would indeed be quite old in 2024 (Ink5oul calling them a "manky old git")

Of course it's also very possible that I'm just reading too much into this and it's actually a completely new character but knowing how Jonny Sims writes I don't think that's very likely.

Curious to hear more thoughts on this!!

Atm, I'm thinking that the Archivist IS Jon. Not necessarily originally.

I'm wondering, during the end of TMA if Jon, Martin, and Jonah's minds got torn from their bodies and wound up in Freddy.

Mostly because of A) the JMJ errors.

The fact that Freddy obviously doesn't WANT the voices around yet has shown it can easily deal with absorbed bodies and minds (and the nature of the OIAR and the computer specifically) leads me to belive that Freddy is Annabelle, our little web spinner doing what she does best. Puppet our JMJ around to get what The Spider wants.

So because Jon became The Pupil at the end of TMA, (and Jonah didn't have an actual body anymore) they and Martin's minds got absorbed into Freddy with Annabelle.

Now, where did the Avatar half of Jon go? The parts of him that were the Eye? I think it got trapped in the closest available vessel. The Archivist experiment under ruins of The Magnus Institute. Trapped, starving, and weak until some OIAR employees started poking around.

I think JMJ specifically led Sam to the Institute for that very reason.

Jon's mind in Freddy, his spirit/Pupil/TheEye parts of him, transferred into this universe's Archivist.

Why exactly then was it so determined to reach TMA universe?
