Cried again at the doc’s but it’s getting better all the time!! ❤️🩹
I'm so glad that that truncated fucking ran-into-a-wall-at-speed tadpole-ass looking squirrel only lives in high altitude forests in Borneo bc this means I am extremely unlikely to encounter one in my day to day life. thank god

“When childhood dies, its corpses are called adults and they enter society, one of the politer names of hell. That is why we dread children, even if we love them. They show us the state of our decay.”

Dang, I need to buckle down for a big deadline so I’m cutting myself off the scrollable TV called Tumblr and internet grander until all’s well and clear. Blessed be the Law of Undulation. 🫡

Finally started in on Rand’s work again when my first foray as a teen made me so furious I half felt I’d bite the book, as was my habit as a child. I was a feeling spirit and always was, lol. Now I’m barely a third through Atlas Shrugged and it’s got me bawling worse than anything I’ve read in years, both for the somber truths she lays out and the blind rest of it I don’t think she ever knew, and if she did that was her point I guess. What a perfect misery and what a book that no one will ever read anymore just because burn-the-witch, and-all-her-dirty-works,-too! We don’t judge men half so harshly for hatching hobbled children out their heads.
The thing is, as a kid I would've condemned the book by its summary, but Rand makes me care almost from the jump because it's not about railroads or even money, really. It's about her characters caring so much about those things, with such individual integrity, that I'm convinced of their dimensionality-- rather than the author's singularity as preacher. That is the worthiness in any art, whatever its subject.
