"masculine role models" lol
"masculine role models" were a scam invented by men (who themselves are also a scam invented by men, it's complicated) to cement the patriarchal family as the only possible way to raise a child and justify keeping "fathers" around. It doesn't necessarily have to be a nuclear family, but kids *obviously* need some masculine influence to teach them it's not ok to be a woman. Otherwise they'd grow up soy.
Masculinity is a social pact that reproduces itself via violent enforcement and reinforcement between men and you should not be giving them any more victim-members or treating it as the natural way of the world.
Anyone who tries to convince you of some genuine psychological need for "masculine role models" in a kids life is a wacko gender shill trying to justify the patriarchy all the unimaginable horrors that come with it, and you should probably kick them in the shins.
> "Negative impact of lacking male role models/a father in childhood development"
> look inside
> 99% just the negative impacts of childhood poverty from being raised by a single mother
I think it’s kinda telling how many people who are opposed to tma/tme language will also argue for male socialization
Like maybe it’s just goomba fallacy but I think that male socialization theory “categorizes nonbinary people based on their genitals” infinitely more than tma/tme ever will lol
IDK I think if cis men are being told that being fat will lower their testosterone and make them Insufficiently Masculine, and cis women are being told that being fat will raise their testosterone and make them Excessively Masculine, and fat trans people are being denied the right to medically transition if they're fat, and thin trans people are warned against HRT because it will make them fat (and this is said about both testosterone and estrogen HRT), and androgynous-presenting people are told that only thin people count as androgynous...
Then maybe...
Maybe...
Maybe the weight loss industry is just using Gender to enforce fatphobia.
bro im gonna CRY i didnt know this 🥺
and yes the stimulant meds do help with this too. The right meds should not “alter you forever” I don’t care what facebook moms say. The right meds will lift the weight from your shoulders and you’ll get VERY ANGRY for a bit because everyone else had it this easy the whole time???? I highly recommend trying out some of the medication available for ADHD.
the sex binary is socially constructed and not actually descriptive of any biological truth. you know that, right? it's important to me that you know that
i know people can be a little overzealous in describing political backslides ("this used to be the feminism website!!!" etc.) but it's disturbing to me how much incredulity i've gotten from other trans people as of late just for, like, saying that "biological woman" is neither a real category nor a phrase that should ever leave your mouth uncritically
feeling weirdly abt the fact that that "this has been talked about extensively you're just 21" response is going around on here without context on its own as though it's a funny or correct comeback when it originally comes as a reply to this original post about how people fail to discuss transmisogyny in horror movies:
I did not really care for the sort of mean & dismissive tone without context (are 21 years olds just supposed to be inherently stupid or unaware), & I think it's definitely worse with it. especially because op does not say it has not been discussed she says it was never reconciled. it is correct to say that people refuse & have always refused to engage with the transmisogyny in horror movies, so why screenshot just the reply & post it on here as a funny dunk . I will say I think some of you guys are really letting your ageism lead you into places that go against your principles

i think this captures the defining pathology of the collective social media psyche right now. we are in the thrall of people who are wantonly cruel but who also demand to be coddled at all times in every way
grade school teachers think memorizing math facts is the phonics of math but its actually sight words and three cuing of math.
Like the thing is ultimately I believe it really is no biggies. Like hey guys, it’s no biggie.
it's a smallie, even
10 times outta nine you take a look back and turns out it was a smallie
we have to hold the line on misandry not being real. it's getting scary out there
btw it's so fucking stupid you can be anxious physically in your body even after you've decided mentally you don't care. I'm supposed to be in charge here
its geniunely insufferable levels of isolating how every single form of mostly single-issue politically minded blog on here be it about racism or ableism or intersexism or lesbophobia or biphobia or anti-nb sentiment or etc have spent years intentionally curating a space for discussion on here of these things which is intensely hostile to anyone tma and the notion the identity theyre posting about can coexist with transmisogynized identity is treated as completely ridiculous. and youre just not allowed to point it out even when youre in the intersection who is most impacted by the fact the majority of people who characterize themselves as Black Tumblr or Intersex Tumblr or Cripple Tumblr or etc are horrific level transmisogynists because you will be accused of positioning xyz minority as bigots. (theyre allowed to make "you cant transition out of racism/tma posters have an intersexism problem/etc" posts regularly though.)
if you want to experience life more deeply you have to find more beauty. stop training yourself to dismiss, to mock, to assume the worst all the time — when you do this you build walls between yourself and the world. and after a while you stop feeling the warmth of it entirely.
beauty requires openness. it asks you to let things reach you, to soften enough to be moved. it’s not naive to see beauty everywhere—it’s a skill, a form of intelligence, a kind of quiet bravery. because it is so much easier to critique than to create, to detach than to engage, to dismiss than to love.
let yourself be affected. let yourself find things beautiful and let that be enough. life is not asking you to be cool, sitting on the sidelines and nitpicking everything. it’s asking you to see life and experience it fully.
