"Could you look an animal in the eyes and say to it, ‘My appetite is more important than your suffering’?” - Moby
“Veganism is not a limitation in any way; it’s an expansion of your love, your commitment to nonviolence, and your belief in justice for all.” - Gary L. Francione
"If animals are not mere things; if they have moral value, we cannot justify eating, wearing, or using them particularly when we have no better reason than palate pleasure or fashion. If you are eating, wearing, or using animals, then your actions say that you regard them as mere things, despite what your words say.” - Gary L. Francione
“Veganism is not about giving anything up or losing anything; it is about gaining the peace within yourself that comes from embracing nonviolence and refusing to participate in the exploitation of the vulnerable” - Gary L. Francione
“Being vegan is easy. Are there social pressures that encourage you to continue to eat, wear, and use animal products? Of course there are. But in a patriarchal, racist, homophobic, and ableist society, there are social pressures to participate and engage in sexism, racism, homophobia, and ableism. At some point, you have to decide who you are and what matters morally to you. And once you decide that you regard victimizing vulnerable nonhumans is not morally acceptable, it is easy to go and stay vegan” - Gary L. Francione

Many people wash their hair everyday, but this isn't always necessary.
Tip #1: Just wash your fringe/bangs if your hair is oily and that would make it look and feel a lot better.
Tip #2: For oily hair, use conditioner only on the ends of your hair- not your scalp.
Tip #3: Use shampoo specified for your needs; there are many that help oily hair and dandruff.
Washing your hair less would lead to saving more water, electricity (hair dryers), and also time and effort (for all you lazy people out there).
Meat is worse than cars, did you know? Livestock also uses up a lot of water to produce as well. So eating less meat would be a great way to start a greener living. Meatless Mondays would be a great strategy for this.

(Skipped this one by accident)
This would actually be an interesting way to save electricity. A lot of people tend to stay up later at night, and sleeping in during the day if they have the chance. But if you try this method it could save a lot of electricity on the long run, and it`s better for your body too!
When you go out for dinner you tend to create more waste; napkins, straws, packaging for other utensils, take-out boxes etc.
For more ideas for recipes you can always search online, ask friends/family, or buy/borrow a recipe/cook book!

Why plastic bags are bad?
1. They are non-degradable and would take a thousand years to break down.
2. The chemicals affect our health and pollute the air.
3. Animals will consume them.

Water Conservation
Eco Tip #13 on Friday the 13th, 2013. HAHA
Anyways, many of you don't know but going to a professional car wash actually saves more water than washing it by yourself.
1. Commercial car washes uses less water: "Commercial car washes require an average of about 45 gallons of water per car, whereas home washers typically use between 80 and 140 gallons." 2. When we wash it ourselves, the toxic, waste water goes untreated and down the sewer. While in professional ones, the water is sent to a waste water treatment plant.
Topic: Waste
Source: http://www.cleanair.org/Waste/wasteFacts.html
It's about time we think about how much waste we are throwing away. For your Christmas or New Years party, please try to reduce the amount of waste you produce. When you're using these items, try using as less as possible. Or, even better, use reusable products rather than paper/plastic ones. These disposable items may be more convenient, but if you can avoid it then it would really help out the environment. If you really do want to use them, then try looking for "eco-friendly" ones in the store; "post-consumer content", "100% eco friendly", "made from responsible sources", "FSC certified"- labels like those would help you chose products wisely.
Currently, there are a lot of trees being cut down irresponsibly in mass numbers.
Cutting trees = destroying habitats = killing animals Cutting trees = less trees = less oxygen released, and less carbon dioxide being absorbed
Post-consumer content = the best form of recycling.if a product is "made with post-consumer content" it means that it recycled from things we put in our recycling bin.
-----------------------------
There are a lot of companies out there that help us by providing information on how to be more eco- like, the fsc logo. There are different types of certifications, so just look at the labels for the information:
Here is their website: https://ca.fsc.org/index.htm
"Your choice makes a difference. Look for the logo."
- WASTE REDUCTION -
Problem with straws: they are plastic.
Problem with plastic: - Animals eat them - Health risks - Production uses a lot of energy, and harms ecosystems
Problem with landfills: - Destroys animal habitats - Cuts down trees - Pollutes environment Visit this link for more information: http://lifewithoutplastic.com/en/about-plastic/why-is-plastic-a-problem
Most of the time, we use straws when we don't even need them. Why not just drink directly, rather than using straws that cause so many environmental problems?
If you use straws because you think the container is dirty (e.g. soda cans), you can quickly rinse the top with water.
------ ENERGY CONSERVATION -----------
Blow dry = electricity
Air / towel dry = no electricity.
It's as simple as that.
If you aren't in a rush to dry your hair, then why not save a bit of electricity?
