I said what is it you want, Octavia of the Sky People?
i’m hoping to get back to regular posting soon. sorry for the hiatus.
some day i will figure out how i always wake up with one pyjama pants leg bunched up around my thigh
You have this storyline with Ramsay. Do you have one of your leading ladies—who is an incredibly talented actor who we’ve followed for five years and viewers love and adore—do it? Or do you bring in a new character to do it? To me, the question answers itself: You use the character the audience is invested in.
Brian Cogman, trying to justify the rape & torture of Sansa Stark that is most likely coming in the next few episodes of Game of Thrones. Isn’t it great to manipulate your audience by giving the shittiest storylines to the characters that they love the most, even when that wasn’t the intention of the original story? Even when this will drastically change her character, and the traumas that she has gone through? Isn’t it awesome to blatantly own up to this manipulation, and pretend that this choice is somehow a tribute to Sophie’s great acting? What a real gentleman you are. Fan-fucking-tastic. (via saeratargaryen)
This is so irritating not just for the obvious reasons but because he outright admitted that he’s valuing Ramsay’s storyline over Sansa’s.
Like she was interchangeable with some other random character for this wonderful storyline they have for Ramsay.
(via donewithwoodenteeth)
And they could so easily cut that storyline, too. We’d lose nothing. It wouldn’t detract from the overall story. They don’t have to do this, they want to do this. They’d rather rape Sansa than give her her original storyline.
This is why I’ve quit watching the show. Fuck ‘em.
“Up onto the overturned keel. Clamber, with a heart of steel. Cold is the ocean’s spray… and your death is on its way. With maidens you have had your way… Each must die some day.”
I know that if women wish to escape the stigma of husband-seeking, they must act and look like marble or clay - cold, expressionless, bloodless; for every appearance of feeling, of joy, sorrow, friendliness, antipathy, admiration, disgust, are alike construed by the world into the attempt to hook a husband. Never mind! well-meaning women have their own consciences to comfort them after all. Do not, therefore, be too much afraid of showing yourself as you are, affectionate and good-heartened; do not too harshly repress sentiments and feelings excellent in themselves, because you fear that some puppy may fancy that you are letting them come out to fascinate him; do not condemn yourself to live only by halves, because if you showed too much animation some pragmatical thing in breeches might take it into his pate to imagine that you designed to dedicate your life to his inanity.

People who buy iphones and other junk don’t shop for workplace casualties, they just want the object. Sweatshop misery is never the selling point. There are no iphones advertised as “MADE OF CHILDREN’S BLOOD AND TEARS! REAL XXX DEATH ON PRODUCTION LINE! OWN A PIECE OF RUINED DREAMS AND WORKER SUICIDES! PUNISH THOSE BITCHES FOR BEING HUNGRY!”.
With porn on the other hand, real suffering is frequently the selling point. It’s no secret that prolonged consumption causes one to develop interest in increasingly more cruel and eventually “real” stuff, the entire selling point of which is the fact that it was cruelly filmed and is not a fantasy.
You propagate against all odds. You know, you’re restless. You survive.
UNARMED BLACK MAN FATALLY SHOT BY VOLUNTEER COP
Eric Harris, who was unarmed, died an hour later after what Tulsa, Oklahoma police officials called a “mistake.” According to several news sources, On April 2nd, the victim had reportedly tried to sell a gun to undercover cops and fled on foot as they attempted to arrest him. A video camera captured him, wearing dark shorts and a t-shirt, running up a sidewalk. Harris was quickly caught and subdued. That’s when a 73-year-old volunteer patrolman, Robert Bates, “allegedly” reached for his Taser, but grabbed “accidentally” grabbed his gun instead. According to Tulsa World, Bates, who has donated thousands of dollars worth of items to the Sheriff’s Office since becoming a reserve deputy in 2008, is a Tulsa insurance company executive. He was working undercover as a member of the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Task Force. The World reported that “Bates is classified as an ‘advanced reserve,’ which means he ‘can do anything a full-time deputy can do.’”
Rather than immediately render aid, the officers held Harris down by his neck as a deputy screamed, “Fuck You! You shouldn’t have f*cking ran!”
As Eric Harris lay mortally wounded, face down on the pavement, he begged for his life. “He shot me!” Harris shouted. “He shot me, man. Oh, my god. I’m losing my breath.”
“F*ck your breath!” the officer yelled.
Capt. Billy McKelvey said the officers were not aware the suspect had been shot, despite the unmistakable sound of the gunshot noise. Bates “made an inadvertent mistake,” he said.
The New York Daily News reported that no further investigation is planned, unless requested by the sheriff’s office.

BUT CAN WE GET INTO THE FACT THAT THIS PIECE OF SHIT WAS A FUCKING VOLUNTEER COP! Wow…just wow. Another George Zimmerman.
hey, i found your blog through your response to dion-thesocialist and it made me rethink a lot of what i believed about voting because before i believed in voting for the lesser of 2 evils etc, anyway as someone from the uk where there's an election next month i was wondering if you had any more resources or articles about this matter for me to read over so i can make an informed choice? i know you're not a robot library but that post made the most sense to me so i hope you don't mind me asking!
I would suggest you read Magedah Shabo on the lesser-of-two-evils fallacy and how propaganda and hegemony remains established through these deviating discussions. The book is called Techniques of Propaganda and Persuasion. My opposition to Hillary Clinton should not be read as indicative of support for Republicans neither should it be interpreted as anti-feminism as I am a socialist feminist. My opposition to Hillary Clinton is not even opposition to dynasty politics, although that in itself is a related and equally disturbing display of power in pseudo-democracies.
My contempt for Hillary Clinton should be read as opposition to what the United States of America - and its ceremonial heads - symbolizes and registers as for those who are living on the margins of local and global society. For many of us from South Asia, Central Asia, Middle East, North Africa, East Africa, West Africa, South and Central America - the global south, if you may, or the political term Third Word - for us, women like Hillary Clinton and Elizabeth Warren or Susan Rice and others are no better, no worse than their liberal and conservatives male counterparts for one very simple reason: The basic crux of their political philosophy does not differ progressively than those before them. There may be a few celebratory distinctions but they’re only there to perform a tangent and take away consumer popular vote’s attention. And I’m fairly sure everyone knows how amnesiac the American memory is in this case.
To give a small idea of why Hillary Clinton is very much the same people liberals claim to be appalled by in terms of ‘social justice’, it would serve us well to remember that:
Dedicated to maintaining U.S. dominance around the globe, financially and militarily, Clinton’s term in office involved the rebranding of U.S. imperialism with a kinder, gentler face after the belligerence of the Bush years–while continuing to assert the right of the U.S. to intervene unilaterally around the globe and to guarantee Corporate America’s pre-eminence.In 2009, Clinton pushed for the troop surge in Afghanistan that sent 30,000 additional U.S. soldiers into the first stop in the “war on terror.” The surge turned out to be a disaster for Afghan civilians. More than a year after the additional depoloyments, UN observers found that civilian deaths weren’t down, but had risen by 15 percent.Clinton supported the Obama administration’s increased use of drone attacks in Pakistan, Yemen and Somalia, which have been responsible for the deaths of hundreds of civilians, according to estimates. On a 2009 trip to Pakistan, Clinton was peppered with questions from family members of people who had been killed by drones. Her peevish response? "There is a war going on.“IN 2011, Clinton pushed for the NATO air war in Libya. She made the case for intervention against the forces of dictator Muammar el-Qaddafi on “humanitarian” grounds, arguing that the U.S. had to intervene to free the Libyan people. In the long run, however, this “humanitarian” policy was little different from the strategy of unilateral regime change pursued in the Bush years. Washington’s war in Libya was also designed to affirm the U.S. government’s power to intervene in any country around the globe. While Clinton insisting that ousting a dictator in Libya was in the interest of “democracy,” she made no such argument during the flowering of the Arab revolutions earlier that year. Her first instinct in early 2011 was to push for more support for the U.S.-allied dictators of Tunisia and Egypt. In Tunisia, President Zine El-Abidine Ben Ali was carrying out the dictates of the U.S. and International Monetary Fund programs that imposed austerity and privatization. When the first signs of revolt emerged, Clinton declared: “We are not taking sides.“In the early days of the Egyptian Revolution, Clinton was likewise hesitant to part ways with longtime U.S. friend Hosni Mubarak. Even as Mubarak’s police forces–armed with U.S.-supplied weapons and gear–attacked and killed pro-democracy protesters, the U.S. stuck to its support of the regime. “We are monitoring Egypt’s military,” Clinton told ABC News. “They are demonstrating restraint, trying to differentiate between peaceful protesters–who we support–and potential looters and other criminal elements who are a danger to the Egyptian people.”Back in the U.S. government’s self-declared “backyard,” Hillary Clinton had been more than willing to support the ouster of the democratically elected president of Honduras, Manuel Zelaya, in 2009, overthrown by right-wing golpistas. She has used her position as secretary of state to score lucrative contracts for U.S. military contractors like Lockheed Martin, Boeing and General Electric.
And more. I’m not sure how any of this is feminist or progressive or remotely new and changed but the lesser-of-two-evils does serve to take away popular vote’s focus from these constant, violent and deeply embedded in policy and principle issues.
Never forget that Hilary Clinton got a child rapist off by accusing a 12 year old girl of seducing him and was recorded on tape laughing over the fact that her client managed to pass a polygraph, and to this day claims she was just doing her job as best as she could.
Hilary Clinton is a friend to no one but herself.
She needed a hero, so that’s what she became.

honest to god question why the fuck is Wonder Woman totally free of body hair?? no woman raised on an island without men is gonna shave her damn pits what the hell
I thought you did those things for yourself, not for the approval of men?
half the population of adults does not up an decide to spend hundreds of dollars and dozens of hours of time at risk of bleeding, scabbing, scarring and infection “just because,” “for yourself.”
women shave their legs and under the arms because of patriarchy and capitalism, which makes it a direct result of gendered socialization. body hair on women is perceived as unclean, barbaric, or disgusting as a direct result of gendered socialization. socialization is not an accident, it’s not coincidence. the hair grows on our bodies the SAME as it does on men, it has the same biological function as it does for men.
a quick google search will tell you that women didn’t start shaving under their arms in the modern western world until about World War I, when changes in fashion led to exposed underarms and razor manufacturers took that opportunity to double their profits by suggesting that cleanly shaven armpits were fashionable and high class. the trend trickled down from there, and a similar process repeated about 40 years later with leg shaving, which was adopted by pinup models, sexualizing the practice in addition to the coding of class status.
I used to claim that I shaved “for myself,” using the fact that I BEGGED my mother to let me start shaving at age 11 as evidence of my “choice.” all that that proves is that I was socialized to be repulsed by female body hair before I even had my own. I had never known an older woman who didn’t shave, I had never seen a woman who didn’t shave on TV or in movies, and the only unshaven women I heard about were the butts of jokes, “bad” women who were very, very explicitly expressed as women not to respect or model myself after.
claiming that you “freely choose” to conform to the only model for being a human woman that you have been presented with from birth is not a true choice.
Your mother was is a famous SHIELDMAIDEN.
A rat in a maze is free to go anywhere, as long as it stays inside the maze.
Margaret Atwood, The Handmaid’s Tale. (via mysharona1987)
This is why the ‘choice’ argument is bullshit. If you have so few options and the available paths are already set. What choice do you have? Why are you in a maze in the first place?
