“It’s really hard to understand inclusion when you’ve never felt excluded. I use he/him pronouns and I’m the first openly out transgender athlete in professional hockey. In the past, every single NHL team had a Pride Night. This year, it’s kind of taken a step back with that. There was a player that decided not to wear a Pride jersey and it turned into this huge thing. I think when a team says that they’re going to wear a Pride jersey and then backtracks on that statement, it really sends a hard message to LGBTQ+ fans and players that we’re not going to stand behind you when things get tough. If I was playing on a team and somebody decided to take that stance and not wear a Pride jersey, I would feel unsafe in that dressing room.” -Harrison Browne for the Keep Pride in the Game campaign
"Stop saying 15 year olds with weird interests are cringe, they're 15" this is true however you should also stop saying adults with weird interests are cringe because who gives a shit
To wit:
I want to share some wisdom from my high school art teacher.
In my AP Art class, there was a girl who was just starting to experiment with mixed media. At this point she was still playing around, trying to decide what direction she wanted to go with her portfolio. So one critique day, she brought in an abstract canvas with some rhinestone highlights and painted and real peacock feathers. She loved sparkles and peacock feathers so she thought she’d try introducing them a *little*. And after everyone had given some input, the teacher gave her his advice, VERY roughly paraphrased here:
“So here’s the thing… I do not like this style. These are just elements that do not speak to me personally, but I see that you like them, and you’re doing interesting things with them.
“My biggest critique is, I only merely *dislike* this piece. I want you to make me HATE it. Go crazy with the things that you like. Don’t hold back trying to make it palatable to people like me. Because I am NEVER going to like it. And if the audience does not like it, it should drive them crazy seeing how much YOU love it.”
Her portfolio was chock full of neon colors and glitter and rhinestones and splashes of peacock feathers and it was a delight. Our teacher despised every piece lol, but she got great marks and I think even won some awards. And more importantly, she was happy and proud of the results. Because she didn’t limit herself by trying to appeal to people who were never going to enjoy what she enjoyed.
Takeaway here: be as cringe as you want. Don’t limit yourself based on other ppl’s tastes. They’re not you, and you are incredible 💕
hey netizens! i'm not sure how many people are aware, but youtube's been slowly rolling out a new anti-adblock policy that can't be bypassed with the usual software like uBlock Origin and Pi-Hole out of the gate
BUT, if you're a uBlock Origin user (or use an adblocker with a similar cosmetics modifier), you can add these commands in the uBlock dashboard to get rid of it!
youtube.com##+js(set, yt.config_.openPopupConfig.supportedPopups.adBlockMessageViewModel, false) youtube.com##+js(set, Object.prototype.adBlocksFound, 0) youtube.com##+js(set, ytplayer.config.args.raw_player_response.adPlacements, []) youtube.com##+js(set, Object.prototype.hasAllowedInstreamAd, true)

Making friends with people from other countries is so crazy. I sent my group chat a Big Bird gif.
And this one girl says, “why isn’t he blue?”
I’m like, the fuck you mean??
So today I learned that in the Dutch version of Sesame Street, they do, in fact, have a blue Big Bird.
I was baffled by this so I went on Muppets Wiki and guess what.
In Mexico, Big Bird is green and his name is Abelardo.
Turkish Big Bird (aka Minik Kus) is apparently fucking orange.
This looks like a fuckin alternate universe or smth. I can’t.
sometimes I look at a fruit or vegetable and see how optimized it is and I’m just filled with love. ppl have the idea that edible plants are “organic” or have just sprung from the earth in their form but that’s not true!! they were selectively bred for thousands of years by generations upon generations of people. that is love. that is faith. when you bite into a fruit you are eating the generations of labor instilled in it to make it just right for you
this is how much our ancestors loved us. this is all their struggles and all their hopes. this is how much our ancestors loved being alive
EVERYTIME I SEE THIS POST I’M AFRAID TO SCROLL TO THE END OF IT BECAUSE I ALWAYS THINK BETTY WHITE HAS DIED
Betty White, last of the jedi.
Reblog Jedi Betty for good luck now and forever
this started as a joke but then i started actually thinking about it and now im really annoyed that IDs have this one letter that doesnt mean anything for cis people and is a huge pain in the ass for trans people when we could instead have literally lifesaving information so emergency medical services could just check ur wallet to see which blood to give you so you dont die or whatever But No
