I keep seeing people talking trash about Kate and Kara, and saying how Superc*rp is better than Superbat, and I thought, let’s compare Lena and Kate’s reactions to being hurt by people they care about.
Lena Luthor found out her best friend Kara had kept a secret from her. A secret she later confessed of her own accord. Let’s look at Lena’s reaction.
She lied to Kara for months about how she felt.
She plotted to out Kara to the world destroying Kara’s ability to have a normal life, destroying her career, and putting the lives of everyone she’s ever loved at horrible risk.
She manipulated Kara into stealing Lex’s journals for her.
She plotted to mind control the entire world.
She endangered the lives of dozens of people by provoking Leviathan.
She manipulated Kara into taking her to the Fortress
She turned the Fortress defenses against Kara
She left Kara imprisoned, alone, and suffering from Kryptonite exposure
Kate Kane asked Sophie, the woman she has called ‘the love of her life’, to stand up to their school with her, and after Sophie promised to do it, Sophie backed out and denied they were in a relationship, then told Kate to her face that she didn’t love her. Let’s look at Kate’s reaction.
She respects Sophie’s decision and leaves her alone for years.
When she hears Sophie is in danger she abandons everything and rushes back to Gotham to help find her.
She rescues Sophie from Alice, saving her life in the process.
When she finds out Sophie is married, she respects that.
She continues to love and care for Sophie, even though it is obviously hurting her.
She tries to move on with her life in a healthy, positive way by finding someone who can be with her the way she wants someone to be with her.
When that doesn’t work, she doesn’t dump all the blame on Sophie.
When Sophie figures out that she’s Batwoman, Kate was fully prepared to tell Sophie the truth and trust her with the secret until she realizes that Sophie is more loyal to Jacob than to her.
When it becomes obvious that she can’t truth Sophie with her secret, she doesn’t get angry and lash out. She just puts distance between them to protect them both, even though it obviously hurts her.
When shit hits the fan, she still trusts Sophie to have her back.
Kate isn’t perfect by any means. She screws up, she sometimes gets angry and frustrated, she sometimes makes mistakes. She can be self righteous, she can be self absorbed, and she can be insensitive. But she would never pull the level of bullshit that Lena has.
