hii i saw your ask about The Prank, i just wanted to say, i don't think it's that big of a deal. like, i think the fandom made it bigger than it was. no offense to fandom, i get wanting angst, but sirius literally just told snape to press the knot on the tree if he wants to see a werewolf. it's a prank, because sirius knows snape isn't stupid enough to go somewhere he knows a werewolf is. snape already suspects remus is a werewolf, so why would he go to the place he knows a werewolf is, on the full moon? but he goes, and for some reason he's shocked that he got what sirius told him was there? sirius didn't give remus's secret away because snape was already stalking them for it and kept claiming he knew, sirius didn't want to endanger remus, he just confirmed snape's suspicions to get him off their backs, dumbledore would swear snape to secrecy anyway...
You have no idea how much I agree with this.
I was actually going to write something similar in that post but decided I didn’t want to start arguments lol but yes, yes, totally.
I agree with everything you said. Like, even Remus in canon didn’t really care that much 😭 It was dangerous and it could have been fatal, yes but:
1. Nothing happened.
2. There are characters who literally joined the Death Eaters, and people make more drama about the prank than they do about characters who joined a group that murdered people.
3. If Remus didn’t care, why should I?
I don’t see Remus as this boy who could’ve defended himself but pretended he didn’t care just to keep his friends. I believe that if he’d really been angry about it, he would’ve confronted Sirius. But even as adults, Remus didn’t seem to care at all.
But I feel like people love to make Sirius the worst person ever. They always bring up how “low” it was of him to say, “I’m bored, I wish it was a full moon,” when Remus literally said in canon, and I quote:
“They didn’t desert me at all. Instead, they did something for me that would make my transformations not only bearable, but the best times of my life. They became Animagi.”
So that means Remus actually enjoyed the full moons!! Not just bearable but the best times of his life! So why are we acting like Sirius is some insensitive, selfish asshole when that’s just not true???
This man has a lot of flaws, don’t get me wrong, but he was good to his friends. He was loyal. And he wasn’t some monster to Remus like some people try to pretend. I do get exaggerating stuff for fanfics (I love that too), but I feel like that’s part of why people end up hating on him more than he deserves.
