❛ Hello everyone. I’m Tee, ❜ he waved as he gave a soft smile. ❛ Thank you for having me on the show, Sookyung-ssi, ❜ he said as he turned to look at the woman beside him before back to the cameras. ❛ A fun fact huh? Well I don’t know if it’s a ‘fun fact’ but I actually have a twin sister who is also in Legacy. Many of you should already know who it is, ❜ he chuckled.

He was definitely messing this up.

although sookyung tended to be, well, a little ditzy, when it came down to it (she had been called a bit of a himbo once, something she was confused about - “aren’t himbos dudes?” - but accepted wholeheartedly nonetheless), she prided herself on her social skills. she liked people, liked making friends. and with that, came being able to tell what people were feeling. knowing when people were nervous in particular. it was why she was drawn to variety. she liked being able to lighten the mood or draw attention away from those who didn’t want it.

so it was easy for her to see that tee had a classic case of the nerves. with this in mind, she calms down a little, knowing her energy could sometimes come across as manic (something that would not help in calming someone down), and puts on her best sisterly smile, used to using it on her own twin back home.

“ah, yes! arin-ssi, right? talent really must run in the family, huh? because you both definitely have plenty of it! now, speaking of talent, do you have any in rollerskating? i have my finger’s crossed that you say no, because i myself haven’t ever actually even worn a pair of skates, ice or roller.” and it was true. despite the amount of sports she had tried before, so far on soondong it was two for two on things she actually hadn’t experienced previously.

“but i live for the lectures,” sori snorts, tossing the set of mits in her hand back onto the shelf haphazardly. “it’s the perfect time to practice my facial expressions!” she rolls her eyes for emphasis, head dipping forward with the most exasperated mug. it only lasts for about a second or two before her eyes cross and she’s back to chuckling. 

“it could be worse,” she shrugs, moving towards the aisles. “you could’ve almost set the entire building on fire trying to make dakgalbi… not that i know from experience…” it was good to know that she wasn’t the only one struggling in the kitchen. she purses her lips, gaze shifting from side to side. “i feel like a lot of people are going to end up handing out sweets, so… let’s go savory!”

she leads the other into the aisle with a nod of her head, whistling at the large assortment of snacks. after doing most of her shopping at the convenience store where she worked part-time, she’s almost overwhelmed by the variety. sori strolls forward slowly, eyes canning the aisle. “hm… what do you think will be the easiest to carry?” 

sookyung can’t help but let out an ever so ladylike snort (note the sarcasm) as sori mentions almost setting the building on fire, almost a hundred percent positive that, yes, it was actually from experience. “true, true. both to the ‘it could be worse’ and the snack choice,” she says, her voice trailing off a little at the end as she gets distracted by the vast assortment of brightly coloured bags and eyecatching logos crowding the shelves of the snack aisle she gets led into.

“i was going to say let’s just get one of everything to be safe, but, well,” at this she waves her hands towards the shelves. needless to say, one of each would not be impossible (that word only entered sookyung’s vocabulary when talking about having a normal sleep schedule), but definitely more than both a single shopping basket and their budget could handle. “i’d say goguma-kkang, totally not because they’re my favourite. or maybe those tteokbokki chips? surely they’d be a safe bet. after all, i can count on one hand the amount of koreans i know that don’t like tteokbokki.”

“for the past couple of months, i’ve mostly been working on various projects so some of the viewers may have seen me from dream team legacy or even through planet influencer where i and the other models were endorsing a wide variety of products.” he added and this time around, he was content with his introduction. 

sookyung um’s and ah’s throughout sanghyun’s self introduction, acting as if she hadn’t researched everything about her guests as soon as it was confirmed they’d be appearing on her show. it was always a good idea to know what could be talked about after all, something every good host knows (and sookyung was going to try her best to be one of said good hosts).

“well if they aren’t familiar with you from any of that, they should definitely go and check it all out. after they finish watching this of course,” she says as sanghyun finishes talking - her last sentence paired with a teasing stern expression aimed towards the camera.

“so! taekwondo! as most people probably know, it’s a korean martial art that was developed in the mid twentieth century. it’s characterised by it’s punching and kicking techniques. and it’s what we’ll be competing in today. yep, you heard right! competing! in soondong, me and the guest of the episode will be going head to head, using what we learned in the lesson to put on a little show for the instructor who will crown a winner based on whatever terms they deem applicable.

and to spice things up a little, possibly literally as well as figuratively, we’ll be making a good old bet. so, sanghyun-ssi? is there anything you’d like if you win? maybe you want something for yourself, like food? or are you going to go the route of making me do something if i lose? and i guess i should also ask if you have any previous experience in taekwondo? i need to know what to expect after all~”

sori’s still cackling as they scuffle inside, making sure to leave the back door open a crack in the case they needed to make a quick getaway. “i couldn’t resist! you looked so unsuspecting. what if this was a horror movie, huh? i would’ve taken you out so fast!” the first rule of hanging out with hwang sori - always be on your guard. 

she snorts at the mention, tugging up her work vest a bit to tuck it under her chin, “this’ll have to do… oh! speaking of -” she extends an arm to hold out her snack stash. “dinner is served! shit - i forgot the drinks… do you have anything on you?” 

she bites down on her bottom lip with a tch, “if not, we can always raid the principal’s office. i wonder if he still keeps the confiscated alcohol under his desk…” she leans over, giving sookyung’s arm a nudge. “maybe we should just camp out there for the night? the roof’s absolutely off-limits this time, i’m not in the mood for frozen tits.”

sookyung has to bite her lip to keep from making a “what tits?” joke, considering sori has the snack bag and sookyung really doesn’t want to be denied food rights. she’s craving homerun balls far too much to want to risk it.

“well, we can’t have that can we? so it’s only smart to head to the warmest room. it’s not our fault that that happens to be principals office, because he could never deal with even the slightest draught and so had the heating on high all the time,” she instead settles on saying, totally not against the idea of raiding the man’s contriband stash. she still has a lingering grudge against the man, having never forgotten the time he gave her a detention when she actually hadn’t done anything wrong (for once). drinking his flavoured soju (because that always seemed to be a favourite of underage drinkers) would be good payback.

“if you remember, most of my detentions were because i was late from getting lost finding my way back to the classroom. so i hope you’re prepared to lead the way to his office.”

vlive: are there any female band artists that you would recommend?

moving on from the first question, the second has sookyung even more excited. it’s no surprise, music is her passion, whether she’s creating it or just listening to and appreciating it.

“okay! and the next question is...are there any female band artists that i would recommend? oh, trust me, there are so many. in general, women in rock are a little more rare and far less appreciated than their male counterparts, despite being just as - if not more - talented than them. i could write whole essays on female artists i love and why they deserve a lot more recognition, and i almost failed korean language in high school. but for the sake of keeping this within the time limit, i’ll just mention the ones which come to mind first.

jaurim is one of my all time favourite bands. their main vocalist, kim yoonah sunbaenim, is a woman and her voice is the reason i decided to learn how to sing as well as trying to master instruments. if i had to recommend only one artist for the rest of my life, it would probably be jaurim.

band-maid is the second one that immediately comes to mind. they’re an all female j-rock band, and so, so talented. they’re playlist must have and their discography is seriously so good. i’m seriously in love with them and their music. aldious, mutant monster, bridear and lovebites are also all female j-rock bands that are worth checking out, to name only a few.

walking after u is another all female band, this time from korea. they are so cool and far too underappreciated. if i could one day end up in a band like theirs, i’t be like a dream come true. oh, and i’m free this sunday, so like, if any of them happen to watching this,” here sookyung winks towards the camera, making the universal ‘call me’ sign with her hand. “okay, the staff are telling me i should move on now, so sadly that will have to be it for recommendations for now. probably for the best, as i could make a list ten feet long if i kept going.”

what is a hair colour you would hate to have? or are you OK with all colours? how about a perm...?

oh, was sookyung excited for this trimesters vlive. anyone who knew her well - scratch that. anyone who knew her for even a second knew that sookyung was more than just a little bit of a chatterbox. she loved to talk, especially about the things she knew a lot about (being the smartest one in the room for once was always a fun change). and what could she more about than herself?

so it’s no surprise when she greets the viewers with the high energy she’s starting to be known for before quickly moving onto the first question. “ooh, we’re starting off with a fun one! what hair colour would i hate to have, or am i okay with all colours? this is actually a surprisingly hard question to answer. i’ve always been the type to try everything at least once before having an opinion on it, for food, sports, so on and so forth. and since the craziest i’ve currently gone with my hair is a brown only slightly lighter than my natural hair colour, i really can’t say that there is one i’d hate simply because i haven’t tried any. i’ve seen other people in the company with all shades of the rainbow on their heads and still look gorgeous though, so that definitely puts more colours on the ‘ones i like’ list than the ‘ones i hate’ list for sure. so for now, i’d definitely say i’m okay with all colours. as for the perm? definitely not. and it’s not because i don’t like how they look, not at all, but because i am much too lazy to want to deal with curls. it’s one of the main reasons i’ve never gone a fun colour; the after treament seems so tedious. maybe i’ll start to rethink that now. what do you all think? have any hair suggestions for me?”

. . . arin at this point is covered from head to toe, her hair having mud in it due to her constantly trying to move the few loose strands out of the way that kept falling in her face. she lets out a heavy sigh as she stands up straight and turns to look at sookyung, pouting a bit before speaking. “have you found it yet? it’s impossible to find something through all of this.” she says this while using her hands to gesture at the mud that surrounded them. at this rate they probably would never find the puzzle piece and end up losing.

so far, dream team legacy had far exceeded sookyung’s expectations. sure, she had watched the previous seasons and so vaguely knew what to expect upon signing up for it, but just watching was never going to be as good as actually doing. and goodness was she having fun learning first hand what it was like. sookyung had always been a physical person. and all the events she had done so far were definitely physical. the treasure hunt wasn’t any different. sure, it didn’t rely on muscle strength as much as a couple of the other events, but good stamina was definitely needed. not only did they need to constantly move around to try and find the puzzle piece, but they needed to move through mud which used up much more energy that it would have without it.

and sookyung may consider herself a rather fit person, but even she was breathing a little harder. that still didn’t stop a grin from growing on her face as she turned around to look at arin. the girl was absolutely covered in the stuff, and sookyung couldn’t help but laugh a little, knowing she probably - definitely - looked exactly the same, if not worse. the only clean parts of her at this point were her eyeballs and teeth. scratch that, just her eyeballs. (mud didn’t taste good as a kid and still doesn’t as an adult, she internally notes).

“as much as i would love to say i have, not because i want to get out of the mud but rather because i want to win, i sadly haven’t,” she finally says in reply after soothing her chuckles. moving closer to the other girl, she looks around at the others in her team to check what they’re up to. “do you have any ideas on how we could go about this? wildly going about hoping for the best doesn’t seem to be working out too great.”

the saying “time flies when your having fun” had always rung true for sookyung. it was true when she ran around the playground with friends in preschool, and when she skipped school to roam around cities with friends in highschool. and it apparently also rang true for fliming soondong, as the schedule for the fourth and final episode of her show got closer and closer on her calender quicker than her trying to get to the dinner table before her sibling. it was bittersweet, standing ready to film when she knew it would be the last time to do so. at least, unless she decided to renew the next time round. but nothing was guaranteed, so sookyung just focused on the “sweet” part, putting a big smile on as she started her introduction.

“hello hello everyone! welcome to soonsong, a show all about trying new things and testing your physical abilities. i can’t believe it! we’ve managed to make it through a whole season of soondong already! granted, it’s only four episodes and not fourteen or something. still, let’s make this last episode a good one, huh? and that shouldn’t be too hard, considering joining me to try out aerial yoga is the one and only park seojin! seojin-ssi, would you like to introduce yourself to the viewers?”

how was it already the third episode? it only felt like yesterday that sookyung was pitching the idea of soondong to the higher ups. but here she was, standing in a mirrored room in her most presentable sweatpants with cameras aimed at her and the guest standing next to her. she was confident, moreso than in the previous episodes. and it was with that confidence that she went on to do her usual (could it be called usual after only being done twice before?) greeting.

“hello hello everyone! welcome to episode three of soondong, a show all about trying new things and testing your physical abilities! hopefully you know me by now, but just in case; i’m bang sookyung, the host - obviously,” she says, laughing a little at herself. “i have to say, i’m very excited for this episode, as we’ll be tring out something i have been wanting to do for a while now: pole dancing! but before we get into all that, how about we first get into the other reason i’m excited today, yes? and that is our guest for the epsiode, miss haeun! haeun-ssi, would you like to introduce yourself? maybe tell the viewers a little bit about yourself and what you’ve been up to?”

it was finally time to film the second episode of her show, and sookyung was absolutely buzzing with energy. with the way the first episode went, she just couldn’t wait to get stuck into the second; especially after finding out what it was they would be doing. taking her place in front of the cameras, sookyung clears her throat and shakes out some of said energy, putting on her best host face as she gets ready to introduce the episode.

“hello hello everyone, and welcome to the second episode of soondong; a show all about trying new things and testing your physical abilities! today, as you may be able to see by where we’re currently standing, we’re going to be trying out a favourite of my grandfather’s: rollerskating! if you watched the first episode, you may know how this works already. if not, don’t worry! i’ll explain it very shortly. firstly though, let’s meet our guest for this episode!” at this, she turns to tee standing next to her, aiming a grin his way. “thank you for agreeing to be on the show! would you care to introduce yourself to the viewers, maybe tell them what you’ve been up to, perhaps even give a fun fact about yourself?”

sookyung really couldn’t believe that she was actually hosting her own show. she wasn’t the most well versed in the world of hosting, and it was only her shamelessness that made her seem good at variety. but still, the legacy higher ups had granted her her wish of having her own show. though, it was only now that she was standing in the martial arts studio, various staff and cameras standing in front of her, that it was really sinking in.

“hello hello everybody! welcome to the first ever season of soondong~ a show all about trying new things and testing physical abilities. i can’t believe i’m actually saying this, but i’m your host, bang sookyung,” she introduces, the wide smile that appears on her face the opposite of fake. “today, it’s all about taekwondo! but before we get further into what we’ll be doing, let’s introduce our first guest...” at this, she finally looks over at sanghyun standing next to her, throwing the old ‘razzle dazzle’ hands his way à la will smith. “..lim sanghyun! firstly, welcome to the soondong, sanghyun-ssi! it’s an honour to have you as my first guest. how about you us a little bit about you? what have you been up to during your time at legacy?”

she’s in the midst of an aggressive headbang when she finally spies sookyung in the corner of her eye from her spot next to a display of oven mits. “sookyung!” she calls out in a sing-song voice, tugging the headphones from her ears and quickly stuffing them back into her coat pocket. “over here! what do you think -” she reaches for a few mits and waves them in the air. “there’s a two for one sale! what if we just used these as gift bags! that would be different, right?!” weird - but definitely different.

at the sound of the other girl’s voice, sookyung visibly deflates in relief and quickly hurries over. at least now if she got lost in the flood of people, it wouldn’t be alone. “you know, as much as i love the idea and would totally be down to do that, i don’t think the company will quite as happy. and i’m not keen on being lectured. again,” she replies, her words accompanied with a bright smile. truthfully, lectures and being told off never really phased her, but she didn’t want to be pushing her luck, not so soon after being taken on as a potential band member. “funny that you pointed them out though, considering i may have slightly singed the ones at the dorm, and should probably replace them before someone finds them,” she continues, taking a pair and placing them into the basket hanging off of sori’s arm.

“so, shall we brave the savoury aisles or the sweet aisles first?”

guess who’ll be hosting her own vlive show? that’s right, this girl here! and god is she excited about it. i’ll get into the premise of SOONDONG below, so keep reading if you’re interested!

premise

soondong (in hangul: 순동) is a mashup of sookyung’s name and the korean word for exercise. as you might be able to work out (pun intended), this show is going to be all about trying out different sports and forms of exercise. in each episode, sookyung and her guests will be learning all about the sport of the episode whilst giving it a go themselves. they’ll be watched over by an expert as they try to navigate the basics (and maybe some not so basics) of the sport or exercise, before competing against each other to see who does the best or has improved the most over the course of the lesson. and since everyone does better with incentive, there will of course be prizes. at the beginning of each episode, sookyung and her guests will make a bet to decide what to put on the line if they win or lose. (for example: making an ugly face if you lose, or having the loser pay for snacks if you win).

in order to not prioritise good content over safety, each episode will be prerecorded and edited so sookyung and guests can learn safely and properly without rushing to keep in a time frame.

types of guests

friends both old and new are welcome. sookyung is just as likely invite someone that she has never spoken to before onto her show as she is to invite those that are already good friends. of course, muses have to be adventurous and up for trying something new, but the main goal of her show is to just have fun so physical ability isn’t a must have. being bad at something can be entertaining too after all!

sookyung really wasn’t known for being good with directions. it was the exact opposite in fact. she also wasn’t known for her amazing cooking skills. all of her meals were either cooked by family or dormmates, or ordered in. all the cooking and buying of food were taken care of by others, and in return, sookyung made sure to do more than her fair share of household chores. so it was safe to say that she had basically never ventured to any supermarkets since she had moved to seoul. therefore, when she managed to find her way to the nearest lotte mart with only a couple of minor hiccups, sookyung was definitely surprised. and that paired with the fact that she was to be meeting up with her good friend sori to ransack the supermarket's snack aisles perked sookyung right up.

now, it was just a matter of finding the other woman. which in theory shouldn’t be too hard of a task considering they were meant to be meeting up by the store entrance and the fact that sori’s brightly coloured hair didn’t exactly blend in; but sookyung wasn’t exactly blessed with height. and apparently, all the tall people of seoul that had decided to get their grocery shopping done at the same time and place as her.
