I've been seeing discourse about identifying as a feminist while getting plastic surgery and the impact it has on other women, and I keep seeing people say stuff like "well, women shouldn't have to be role models all the time!" ...Why don't you want to be a role model? Do you have no desire to mirror your beliefs?

Like yeah, obviously nobody wants to have every single one of their actions be internalized by others... but that's what happens, especially with young girls.

The choice to not get plastic surgery is a non-action. It saves you thousands of dollars, weeks of recovery, and the inevitability of having to spend even more money on touch-ups later because every procedure fades. You are choosing to sink ridiculous amounts of money into an endless pursuit of beauty that, if even achieved at all, will only last for so long.

We all age, we all change, we all gain and lose weight. It is ultimately healthier for your mental and physical health to stop chasing unattainable beauty. That's only part of why we say plastic surgery isn't feminist, but its relevant here.

We don't live in a vacuum. Why are you fighting so hard to not be judged for a decision that affects everybody around you? It doesn't even benefit you! Please, stop focusing on your appearance and on being desirable and go outside. make friends. Engage in hobbies. Get some healthy exercise. Focus on your physical health rather than your physical beauty. Enjoy life beyond that mirror you're stuck in front of.

last month my brother, a life long touchscreen hater, had to get his first smartphone because he couldn't pay his rent without one since his bank website no longer allows him to use his personal card reader (given by his bank) to make payments. most public transports outside the main city Require that you use the App to get tickets. the other day I went to a brunch place that wouldn't let me order food without going through the App.

I personally think smartphones have ups and downs, and I won't lie I really like having Small Games in my pocket at all times but the way smartphones have become a necessity/requirement to live in society is so fucking annoying and honestly fucked up.

friendly reminder that the Abrahamic God never actually said that Eve couldn’t eat from the Tree of Knowledge, he only told Adam not to eat from it (Gen 2:17). perhaps the entire reason the tree was in the garden in the first place was so that Eve could eat from it & become wise (why else would it be in the garden if no one could eat from it??) but Adam couldn’t be trusted with that wisdom, so when Adam ate from it, that’s when all hell broke loose. yes, Eve eventually found out about the command (that’s why she told the serpent “God said not to eat from it”), but who’s to say that Adam didn’t tell her not to eat from the tree bc he was jealous????? also a friendly reminder that Eve didn’t “deceive” Adam, he was deceived by the snake. Adam was literally standing right there when the snake starting talking to Eve (Gen 3:6: he was “with her”). so it’s either he was also deceived by the snake, or Adam is evil, because he allowed Eve to eat from the tree & didn’t stop her from doing it.

Something that burns me alive every time I hear it is “If you don’t have kids, who will take care of you when you’re old?” A child is not a retirement plan. A child is not an advanced directive or a nursing home or a home health aid. A child is not a reliable caregiver you have to groom into shape for 40 years. Hell, you might be a caregiver to your child for the rest of your life. Even if they’re born healthy and happy, they could get hit by a car and have massive brain damage at any point in their life. Do not have a kid solely so you can depend on them. That is a fucking evil reason to have kids.

I think we have a serious issue on the left where statements made by op are extremely popular and it's seriously concerning. If op, and plenty of people reblogging, don't understand the concept of multiple axes of oppression then they will not work toward ending any oppression in my opinion. Liberals and leftists need to understand that one axis (race) doesn't cancel out another axis (gender).

Instead of trying to dunk on white women that you want to distance yourself from, try actually listening to "masc poc" : all men hold privilege over all women.
