My gut response to another trash article in the about the area, this time in The Scotsman, of all places! And using K Cobain in the headline; sure people are cringing over that! I'm the least likely champion for this area, tbh, but I'm still frustrated by the easy and boring "Look, there's homeless! Drugs! It's all bad!" narrative. A few years in and I can see this: Because what people consider awesome out here isn't praticularly valued, or easy to quantify, there's nothing to balance the scales -- no social capital to give the area a pass. People and places have to perform at a certain level --be fancier-- in order for flaws not be the defining characteristic.
