Hey if u guys need an easy and non sus way to throw out tags (soft or hard) uhhh literally just put that shit in a chip bag and throw it away in store. If you want to go the extra mile, bring red food coloring and tissue, and put it over your tags. No ones gonna touch bloody tissue period.
Last year i got some decent clothing items by bringing them to the dressing room w decoys, pulling off the cardboard tags (they have rfids) and putting them in a nutrigrain wrapper. Threw that shit away like i had just finished eating a tasty snack, and left. Dont leave tags behind i swear to god yall dumb as hell. They bulk up security when yalls sloppy asses are hiding hard tags in coat pockets and shit. Dont leave tags behind that employees can find PLEASE
Getting out
Okay, I’m seeing a few specific posts about “how to know that you’re sussed,” and I am loving this advice. Sometimes stuff that is applicable to one place can go across the board and be relevant elsewhere, too. So… * Have you noticed anyone near you? (Customers can be as much a threat as LP/SAs, and may very well be ununiformed LP. Keep this in mind, especially if you don’t honestly know.) * Have they moved with you around the store? (SAs often like “straightening up” areas where they have customers in line of sight, especially if it’s very quiet.) * Are they as quiet as you (hopefully) are? * Has someone made eye contact with you and genuinely looked surprised? (They may have seen something in your hand and then *not* seen it.) * Has someone seen your hand near/on/in your bag? * Have you heard any questionable announcements? “Carol, you have a call on line one in Kidswear,” if you’re in cosmetics, it might not be too weird, but anything with sketchy sounding names (or highly ordinary or unusual names– might be a store code for “Houston, we have a problem”) or in your general location? You’ve just gotten your cue to make very quick exit plans. * Have you seen more than one staff member near you, and how is their body language and do they seem to be whispering? I sometimes LOVE it when staff are casually talking about their plans of the weekend/the bitchy manager from another department/who’s rostered on this weekend/etc, but there is a marked difference between this and when their guard isn’t down. What to do? Swallow your pride, continue on as normal, and get out. Don’t come back for awhile. Keep in mind, you may be sweating bullets at this point, but this is where you know your local laws (some places don’t go you for lifting until you have passed the point of sale, in some places, concealing in and of itself is criminal) and go into normal mode. Anything ELSE you do from this point that looks sketchy is just going to be another point against you, especially if people are already watching you. And if they aren’t, you’ve psyched yourself out. I’ll be honest: I think everyone has had something like this happen in their history of lifting. It doesn’t mean The End, it doesn’t mean getting caught, it doesn’t mean mass panic and it doesn’t mean doing time. What it does mean, is that you have to stomp down every single drop of adrenaline and the instinct telling you to freak out, and you need to a) offload anything you’ve concealed in a complete chill manner, and b) work out how you’re going to get out. Remember, you could always be a first-time lifter who got spooked and decided not to go ahead with anything, or someone who’s realised they’ve left their wallet at home or lost their credit card (losing a wallet or credit card will naturally make people panic, too, so it ads some plausibility if you’re looking frantic and upset when you leave… just don’t, for the love of fuck, have anything on you to suggest otherwise or that you’re stealing.) My “getting out” depends highly on the situation, and this is where being adaptive to your environment is important. Stores that are multilevel or have multiple exits will change how you do things and the speed with which you can escape. (Ideally, you know where all the normal exits are, already, too.) My general method goes like this: a) Find a blind spot. Ditch anything I’ve had in my bag, while pretending to look for my phone. If you can’t do this, getting into an unmanned changeroom would possibly work, too– just grab a couple of clothing items, and leave everything you’ve pinched in there. Now isn’t the time to go, “But I’ll still sneak this lipliner no one saw me with.” No, sweetie, they might have seen that. Ditch ALL of it. Remember, going into a changeroom when you already are being watched can be a massive tell. If you leave things in there, they knew you had the intention, but if you haven’t taken any of it, they’ll assume you chickened out, and often they won’t follow beyond that. Loss Prevention is what it sounds like a lot of the time. Not about “catching the bad guys” but, well, preventing loss. You leaving stuff in a changeroom because you were spooked still means they’ve done their job and prevented that loss from happening. b) If they see you with something in your hands, and you have cash, after ditching what you’ve concealed, just swallow your pride and walk to the counter and buy the damn thing. If you really can’t afford it, keep the receipt and return it at another store with an excuse about how you bought it for your friend but you got the wrong one/your friend is allergic to one of the ingredients/you thought the product was cruelty-free but since learned otherwise when you got home. If it’s clothing, you got someone something in the wrong size/found a cheaper alternative elsewhere. Toys or homewares? You bought it for someone and they already have it. c) Don’t return for at least a few weeks. And when you do, do so at a time where customer traffic and staffing is likely completely different. (ie. You were sussed on a Monday morning? Go back in a month on a busy Saturday afternoon.) And try to make your next visit one where you aren’t stealing anything, where you’re just sussing out things (it’s always a good idea to keep up with store layout and camera changes; some places will add cameras to blind spots or rearrange displays) or legitimately shopping. Maybe go with someone different, too: sometimes when they’re expecting to be on the lookout for a sole lifter and suddenly you’re there with someone else, and probably dressed differently, etc, they just plain won’t recognise you. Remember, people often see what they’re looking for. I’ll say this, too: getting sussed and having unfortunate events is going to happen at some point in time. Statistically, your odds of getting caught increase the more you lift (this is before taking into account psychological changes like getting cocky or too relaxed, too); most reports on lifting suggest that an individual who gets caught has already gotten a few thousand under their belt before getting busted. Shit happens, but like a lot of other areas in life, it’s not so much the cards you’re dealt, but how you choose to play them. As I’ve said before, I still think about 60% of lifting is in the social engineering execution.
me watching videos of super obvious shoplifters: ….what if im like that
just got fired from my job so...
g@p íñć stores (bâñanå répùbłíc, öłd nävy, etc) are not allowed to apprehend or stop lifterś by any means. we were trained to never chase/confront because they believe lîfters could possibly be carrying weapons. it's unbelievably easy to líft from these stores because employees can't stop you or else they will get fired. just in the past two weeks, over 100+ units of merchandise was stólen lol. beware though, i was told before i was let go that my store had 75 HIDDEN CAMERAS. łp investigates like crazy and has angles everywhere within the store. it's mainly to investigate internal théft as it's placed around the registers, the back room and office, but they mentioned cameras are placed within the hallways of the fitting rooms. do what you will with this information but be careful.
just a reminder to never pay civil demands!!! if ur caught and a company sends u a letter demanding money u do NOT have to pay it. basically it’s saying they’ll sue u if u don’t pay it but it’s gonna cost more money to sue u then the amount u owe them. they’re trying to scare u into paying the money basically. but it’s makes no sense for a large company to spend thousands of dollars suing u to get back that $100
haul!!! because i haven’t done one in forever

HIDING LIFTS FROM PARENTS
I am the queen of deception and manipulation, the stakes are high for me already because my parents are abusive and it makes being caught so so so much worse. But I got you! Here are my tips for hiding your lifting from parents. By the way, hiding things is a long term process, if you aren’t aware. Everything you say and do can add up to suspicion. And I mean EVERYTHING (well, for me and my situation anyway, but it’s better to be safe than sorry).
First, you’re gonna have to change how you do things. And by things I mean shopping. NEVER buy things (when you do buy) full price, ESPECIALLY if it’s clothing. Start being all about the best deals (which you should be, anyway!). Start op/thrift shopping occasionally. Do clothing or stuff swaps with friends and let your parents know that. Your parents have gotta believe that you KNOW how to shop cheap (and also, I recommend you actually start learning how to do this if you ever decide to stop lifting!) Also it is a good idea for you to be saving money, have a job, yadda yadda. If you don’t have a job this makes this 100x more important. If you’ve got expensive taste, lie about how much the stuff costs in the first place. Or just say you’ve got it on sale, or thrifted it brand new omg what a steal ;)!
Something you’ve also gotta know how to do well is TETRIS. lmao. Not the game, but how to compact things and pack well. Practice a lot at home. The reason for this is when you come home with all your stuff, you won’t be carrying all your bags with things in them, you’ll only have one bag. This is important as well if you lie and say you’re studying at a library etc. Before you go home, roll, fold, shove everything into one bag so it looks like you hardly got anything at all in the first place. I’ll make another post later on how I do this in 5 minutes (it’ll be a video). You can really stuff an almost 1k haul in one tiny backpack. I promise. JUST PRACTICE.
If you need to hide hardcore (like me), specifically for bras, panties, and small clothing items, when you need to wash them take them into the shower or bath with you. Fill up a sink or bucket and let them soak with water and soap/washing liquid while you shower or bathe. After you get out, just scrub them and y'know, get the stains and clean them, rinse under clean water. Hide them within your towel and take them into your room, and squeeze excess water with your towel and hang them to dry in a place that can’t be seen. Bras and panties should be hand washed anyway, makes them last longer!
When your parents ask where you got a clothing item or whatever, just be like ‘oh it was on sale at _ (insert store)! It was $10 marked down from $30’. USE SALES AS EXCUSES MORE THAN STUFF LIKE ‘a friend gifted it to me’. Also, you could say you found it an op/thrift shop. In my area thrift stores always carry store brand stuff anyway, so it’s believeable. My parents think I legitimately spend only $30-$40 whenever I go “shopping”, which here is equivalent to ~3 or 4 hours of pay at minimum wage.
ALWAYS MAKE SURE TO GET RID OF TAGS, BARCODES, even the brand name if you can. Take them off before you get home or when you get home, take them off and make them completely illegible (I keep tearing until its just confetti). Or if you drink cans of soda shove them in there and then throw it out.
When hiding stuff, DON’T KEEP IT IN ONE PLACE. It’s MUCH BETTER to be caught with a SMALL AMOUNT of items than EVERYTHING you’ve ever gotten, ever. I hide stuff under my bed. On top of my closet. Under the pile of clothes in my closet. Underneath the messy pile of cords in a box. Behind my nail polish collection. Inside books (stickers, flat items can be stored in books). Inside my school bag if I have to. In the back of every single drawer. Behind my table. Hidden inside every purse/bag I own. Sure, it might be harder to find a specific item later for you, but this is the same case for your parents. Also when it’s spread out this much it ends up being 5 items max in each location, which is MUCH LESS SUSPICIOUS.
Going shopping all the time can also be suspicious. Make believeable lies like you’re going to a library to study with a friend, or you’re going to a friends house, or even if you’re hardcore like me say you have a club after school that you go to and instead of going to that go to the shops and lift (for clubs say it’s something like sports club, because you can’t prove it with work. Or say it’s art club and draw/paint shit occaisonally so you have something to show when they ask what you do there). Always tetris your stuff, make it look like you didn’t shop at all (UNLESS it’s food, just have it out, that’s really easy to lie about. Say you got hungry and popped into a store).
I know, this may seem EXTREME. But it honestly isn’t. Most people live with their parents for an entire 18 or more years, and if you plan to live with your parents for 1, 2, 3 or more years, you can’t risk it. To not be caught takes a lot of planning, a lot of time, and a lot of willpower.
Good luck!
this is sooooo important

‼️ATTENTION BABY ŁÎFTÉRŠ‼️
the first picture of this post is the first thing I ever lifted, a pin from špêñçérś.
the second picture is a picture of my first haul. this was taken the day I started śtèáłîñg, during setember of 2019.
the third and fourth pictures are photos of one of my most recent hauls.
as you can see, the last pictures have a lot more stuff in them. a lot of people who have just started łifting want to get hauls that look simular to that. the feeling of taking things from a store, the idea that anything you want can be yours for free, is overwhelming and it can cause you to get greedy. but it is also what will get you caught. these two haul photos were taken a year apart. it took me a year of practicing, of learning techniques, of making mistakes, of growing and learning, to łift the way I do now. I didn’t just wake up one day with the ability to leave a mall with $500 worth of stuff, without being noticed. I started off with lipgloss and pins. with putting stuff in my sleeves and pockets. with taking only one or two things at a time. it’s so important to start small and to not get greedy. when you’re looking at huge haul pictures, done by other lifters on tumblr, it’s so easy to forget that the person taking those pictures has probably been łifting for months, if not years. they know all about concealing quickly, avoiding cameras, and most importantly they know what to do if they are sussed or approached by loss prevention.
always remember that łifting is a skill that requires time and practice to develop. please don’t get frustrated if you can’t łift big items yet or that you can’t seem to get big hauls. baby hauls are just as amazing as big hauls. whether you’re łifting from the dollar tree or sephora, you’re still an awesome lifter. all that truly matters is that you’re being careful and safe, and that you don’t get caught.
yeah get security bitch ill just have sex with them
im angry >:(
You ever just wanna get into a hobby and look up stuff you need and think "oh I can l1ft that, and that, and that..." I feel like such a money saver with this it reduces everything I wanna do by like $20 bucks.
Lol I always do this and then I save money for the things that I just can’t possibly lift. I save thousands just on simple everyday things like on body wash, toothpaste, shampoo/conditioner, underwear, socks, makeup etc.
