sometimes i think about the fact that Dreamworks was working on the Prince of Egypt and Shrek at the same time and would apparently send people to work on Shrek instead of the Prince of Egypt as a form of punishment
the night i posted this i couldn’t find a source and i’ve been wondering ever since if maybe it was just some kind of fucked up fever dream or something. but no, it’s real:

Tolkien: This character is Feanor, which in my language means Spirit of Fire, which gets at his personality, creative spirit, and destructive tendencies.
Also Tolkien: This character is Treebeard because he’s a tree with a beard.

21-year-old Baltimore Country man dies after being beaten up by police officers.
Tawon Boyd, a 21-year-old man from Essex, Maryland, was hospitalized after a fight with police, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police were called at 3AM on Sunday to the first block of Akin Circle in Middle River on a report of a disturbance. Boyd was found “confused and paranoid, sweating heavily.”
According to the police Boyd refused to obey orders and began fighting officers, but victim’s family and Deona Styron, his fiance, tell a different story:
“He on the ground, 5 other officers on top of him, and not only that, one police officer got his arm around his neck like this, punching him, punching, him and throughout the whole thing he’s like I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe…”
There is no way you can twist this story to justify the police beating this kid to death. Police were called to help, but they ended up killing the guy. There is no excuse - they’re supposed to serve and protect and they have to be able to deal with all kinds of people. Not everyone is mentally stable, not everyone is white, but that does not give you the right to beat them to death!

WW-I battlefields remain uninhabitable for 300-900 years. iI’s because of the unrecovered human remains, chemical contamination, plus unexploded artillery shells, all lost in the soil which at the time was churned into mud by the sheer volume of artillery used. (Source)
You swerve to avoid a squirrel. Unknown to you, the squirrel pledges a life debt to you. In your darkest hour, the squirrel arrives.
Lost in Light, a short film on how light pollution affects the view of the night skies. Shot mostly in California, the movie shows how the view gets progressively better as you move away from the lights. Finding locations to shoot at every level of light pollution was a challenge and getting to the darkest skies with no light pollution was a journey in itself. Here’s why I think we should care more. The night skies remind us of our place in the Universe. Imagine if we lived under skies full of stars. That reminder we are a tiny part of this cosmos, the awe and a special connection with this remarkable world would make us much better beings - more thoughtful, inquisitive, empathetic, kind and caring. Imagine kids growing up passionate about astronomy looking for answers and how advanced humankind would be, how connected and caring we’d feel with one another, how noble and adventurous we’d be. How compassionate with fellow species on Earth and how one with Nature we’d feel. Imagine a world where happiness of the soul is more beautiful. Ah, I feel so close to inner peace. I can only wonder how my and millions of other lives would have changed. But in reality, most of us live under heavily light polluted skies and some have never even seen the Milky Way. We take the skies for granted and are rather lost in our busy lives without much care for the view of the stars. How does light pollution affect the night skies and quite possibly our lives?
