Duffers confessing that they really did plan to kill el all along bc they couldn't envision the party being able to move on from their lives with her present. Like practically just explicitly admitting that for all their posturing around being a person outside of mike/hopper/etc. or being insecure about her worth without her powers they explicitly agreed that her powers/usefulness and perception by / value to others was all she was worth. She wasn't a person to them she really was just a plot device to represent the other characters coming of age and moving past the supernatural chaos. She was never a "main character" to them she was an object to explore and discard no wonder they didn't bother to actually give any non-imaginary/speculative ending to her story and no wonder they put so little effort into her non-mike/hopper relationships this season/overall. They couldn't even delve into her own perspective long enough to know. whether she wanted to be called El or Jane she was only ever nosebleeds and eggos and ominous stares and inconsistent relationships with the people in her life and heartbroken sobbing when it served the plot. Fucking hell
