#it’s wild to me how many people don’t include the rug in their aftersun (2022) post #it’s THE object of the story to me #i was looking for it specifically so i could post my letterboxd review of my rewatch here for my archive and found was stunned by the lack #here’s why i suppose:#For the rest of my life when I revisit this I’m going to think about my professor #choking up as he talked about the tangibility and grief of Sophie stepping onto her dad’s rug every morning as she gets out of bed #my Nana passed the other night #and I have a plant stand from her that I use as my nightstand #It’s the first thing I see every morning as I reach over to grab my glasses #I don’t have an elegant connecting point to make here—I just think it’s beautiful that we love people so much #that we cherish objects simply because they were loved by someone that we love #that we hold onto tangible pieces of them in any way we can #❤️‍🩹
