Intersex people, despite our abnormal chromosomes and/or sexual development, are still male or female. Not a third sex, not somehow neither sex, not a mix. Male or female. 

Yes, even intersex people with ambiguous genitalia. Having ambiguous genitalia does not make someone less male or less female or somehow a mix of the two. That would be like saying any man with a smaller-than-average penis is less of a man, or a woman with a larger-than-average clitoris is less of a woman.

Sex is not a spectrum, and our abnormal chromosomes and/or sexual development do not make human sex a spectrum.

That’s a great point and it’s absolutely true. The issue is that this is where the conversation ends in social justice circles and especially on this website 99% of the time. “No ethical consumption under capitalism tho” which is a truism, but no call for action beyond that at all or any suggestions for what we are supposed to be doing while we just sit around and wait for The Revolution. At that point it becomes nothing but an apathetic cop-out.

Vegans aren’t suggesting that our lifestyle is 100% cruelty free or that we don’t contribute towards suffering just by existing in a consumer society, because of course we do. But there is nothing I can do about that. Veganism, however, is something practical and actually attainable that I am able to do, here and now, to significantly reduce the harm I cause to animals and the planet. If I have the option to cause less harm, why wouldn’t I do that? And more even more perplexing, why do people feel the need to point out that that “there is no cruelty free way to live” every time we even try?

Veganism as in the specific movement under that name is a relatively new western in origin phenomenon, but dharmic religions among others have been promoting avoidance of animal products for literal centuries, typically under the name of vegetarianism + specific terms (e.g. ahimsa in Jain philosophies). Portraying avoidance of foods and products derived from nonhuman animals as a solely white western thing is blatantly erasing these millennia old cultures.

you're just never going to have a realistic analysis of capitalist food production until you really process that farm owners are not the working class, the people who work on those farms are. this should be evident in the term "factory farm" drawing a straightforward comparison with factories (owned by capitalists, worked in by workers), but many people still have this idea that any opposition to these large companies is inherently opposition to the individual workers who are exploited there.

when there are so many people who understand that criticizing Amazon is not being against people who work in warehouses, but believe that criticizing Cargill Meat Solutions is harming poor workers, idk what to say except you are not immune to propaganda
