Hi, here come some thoughts.
Obviously, Robby is a very tactile person, at least towards Dennis and like some other people, too. I think he probably was very touchy as a kid always holding someone’s hand or arm, whether it was his grandma or a friend or even a teacher. Just always searching skin to skin contact to soothe himself.
But as he got older he was taught that most people didn’t want to be touched all the time and just asking outright was also not taken to well. So he quelled it, only rarely initiating the actual skin to skin with people he knew well enough.
Here comes Dennis, who is touch-starved, coming from a practical, standoffish family.
There weren’t any hugs in his childhood, no snuggling in front of the fireplace, no hands held when crossing the street like there had been for Robby. There was sometimes a hand teaching him something until he had learned all they deemed important and then he was left with his brothers roughhousing. No gentle touches.
He hadn’t been familiar with all the touching, but he’s not opposed either and he’s gotten used to it quickly.
How could he not with Robby’s warm, steady hands on such a day like his first shift, where Dennis was so anxious and needed it to calm his nerves. And so did Robby. The touching goes on, Dennis reciprocating in the following shifts, noting how skin to skin gets a different, better reaction than with fabric between them.
On another note, i see Dennis’ love language kinda as quality time or acts of service and Robbys, after pushing down the need for touch, as gift giving and words of affirmation. And they both find physical touch as a language they share, Dennis learning it basically from scratch but being taught by Robby, for whom it is a nostalgic thing he relearns with Dennis.
In conclusion, the big pitt touching the lil pitt is very important to me personally. Keep it coming, Noah Wyle
