The View from Noah's Crib
Noah, now age 5, gave up his crib early on and it has been a fixture at Little Green Beans in North Austin ever since.
Shoppers often ask am I for sale. "No" replies the shopkeeper. "This crib is for display only."Â I've got a unique role here though...
I can see everyone and everything from this vantage point. All of the comings and goings at the store.
The playful toddlers and preschoolers skip past me.
Sleeping newborns in carriers, car seats and strollers find my area quiet for their naps.
The tweens stroll by on their way to their own shopping space, the "Tween Closet."
I get to see all of the activity at the front door and the cash counter from here.
The fun really begins when the consignors bring in all of the newest items that they no longer need for their families.
I wonder what I get to have in the crib soon from that box?
Many days I get to wear one or two colorful mobiles. They spin and dance, making me smile as they had for the infant who had it last. Today I have a toy bag on my front and I got a cool ocean sounds soother recently.
Most days you can find me holding soft things like sweet baby blankets, soft teddy bears and rabbits plus other baby-safe play toys.
I get outfitted for boys and girls alike in neutral bedding, sheets, bumpers and pillows (the latter two for display only too). There has been a jungle theme and modern designs with dots. I like to play connect the dots!
Some days I am a girly girl's bed, all in pink or shades of purple with a floral motif.
Baby boy blue suits me well too. I like to dream about little boys enjoying a peaceful nap on this cool shade.
Every day is different and the store changes all the time. That's what keeps Little Green Beans interesting...from my vantage point.
