I think Taylor is such a special writer for so many reasons but one thing in particular is her storytelling and how it is such a blend of fiction and creative nonfiction. She’s confessional but imaginative. I really think all fiction has an element of truth that comes directly from the storyteller, and all nonfiction has a interesting and thoughtful narrative that also comes from the storyteller. And the greatest thing a storyteller, or artist of any kind, can do is to expose some sort of nearly universal truth that other people can relate to and that is something Taylor does very well.
