Hannah Montana is fucked up because its entire POINT as a show is that children should be protected from fame and exploitation, but it stars a REAL little girl that's being exploited. Nearly every episode carries the looming threat of Miley being outed as Hannah and losing her peaceful teenage life to the ravages of fame. Her father in the show (played by her own father in real life) wisely protected her from the trauma of fame by making her wear a disguise and live a rather quiet, interview-free life. Meanwhile the REAL Billy Ray Cyrus sold his daughter to Disney Channel when she was 11 and forced her to read dialogue about how terrible it would be to face the public eye. Like... Jesus, dude. The fictional Robby Ray is 10x the father, and it's not even close. (It's also IMMENSELY funny that her dad doesn't use his real name in the show, while she does. Almost like he wanted a bit of a disconnect between his identity and his character. Something Miley didn't get.)

Watching older people struggle to use the McDonald’s kiosk genuinely makes me sad. It’s ever increasingly clear that technology literacy courses provided on a state level as a public service are necessary to assist people with the rapidly changing technology landscape. Society changes fast and rather than abandoning people to individualized solutions we need a socialized response to helping people adjust.

Is aging up characters to write smut bad?

is growing up and becoming an adult who participates in normal adult activities bad?

listen, I write about non-con, murder, infanticide and cannibalism. so even if you write about any of these things I do, or some other things that would have been disgusting and shockingly wrong in real life, even if you don't age your characters up, nothing is ever bad or wrong as long as it's fiction.

I don't know how many times I have to say this but thought crimes are not real. stop letting the imaginary cop in your head shame you and keep you from creating the art you want to create. stop asking strangers for their opinions when it comes to your hobby, something that you do for yourself and your own enjoyment, something that doesn't harm or affect anybody in real life in any way, shape or form.

write whatever you want, however you want. you have all the power and the freedom to do that.
