Does every writer feel this way?
I can be writing the most tense scene possible; outlined perfectly beforehand. Then an idea strikes.
I scratch the plan away. And while laughing mischievously like a villain in its own movie - I write down an even worse plot.
Characters are suffering, betrayal is unraveling. Yet here I am - laughing at my own ingenuity.

Wanting literally everyone in the world to read your story one day, but when someone you know asks to read it you scream and Panic
I have voices in my head, but in order to make it seem normal I give them names and make them do things in a word doc
Getting All the ideas the moment you step out of range of any sort of note-taking objects
Listening to your book playlist and creating a pinterest board for your characters and convicting yourself this is writing
24/7 always both "this work is terrible i'll never amount to anything" and "i'm a fcking genius wow i'm incredible" simultaneously every second.
Not number 8 š¤£ I even dare to say it aloud when I finish writing that perfect scene š¤
Then I have to show it to my beta readers.
And it instantly becomes the biggest trash scene ever created.
When AI is not quite as smart as they say...
I was struggling with a dialogue sentence, thinking it sounded too bland. So, desperate as I was, I asked AI how it would write it. Please, behold the most intellectual sentence you'll ever read:
"The dead were already dead."
Never doubt yourselves, fellow writers. We can definitely beat AI in this race šŖ
Writing isn't the hobby. Being insane about little fake people is the hobby. Writing is just the only outlet i have for that
And letās make it clear: we donāt always like these little fake people. Sometimes we just want to behead them; but thereās this divine force that just doesnāt allow us to do so.
When you daydream about your story and it doesnāt magically write itself onto the page:

It's incredible to me how we, as writers, can wear so many skins.
We write as genders, not our own, in worlds that don't exist.
We slip into the bodies of the powerful, the ruthless, the fearless, while sitting in a one-bedroom apartment, praying for stable WiFi.
Writers are shapeshifters. Necromancers. Magicians. We build universes out of coffee and anxiety.
Writers are incredible, and I will die on that hill.
The most annoying thing that happens while you're writing is... forgetting the word but knowing the vibe.
I am not lying when I say, I spent 5-10 mins repeatedly trying to grab something out of air just to remember 'reach out'.
Like why does my brain work like that.

I feel like we really lost something when we started looking at writing as a reader-centric product meant to appeal to the desires of a specific audience rather than a writer-centric approach of someone writes whatever particular thing particular compels them/whatever weird thing the demons in their head want to talk about, and people out there who are also compelled, and/or relate, find that writing. A lot of discussions of writing really center around what readers want rather than a writer's exploration. Sometimes as a reader I don't know what I want. I click on a fic or pick up a book I'm not sure about but that looks interesting, and I love it. Reading what I expect to get is it's own joy, but we always need to expand our horizons and not get mad at creators for not always writing what we want/expect.

affirmations for writers: i know how to write. i have seen sentences before, and i know how to make one. i can identify up to several words and their meanings. i am not afraid of semicolons.
i know what an adjective is. I can tell the difference between affect and effect. Commas are my friends. We're just friends, though. I am not in a toxic situationship with commas.

some people think writers are so eloquent and good with words, but the reality is that we can sit there with our fingers on the keyboard going, āwhatās the word for non-sunlight lighting? Like, fake lighting?ā and for ten minutes, all our brain will supply is āunofficialā, and we know thatās not the right word, but itās the only word we can come up withā¦until finally itās like our face got smashed into a brick wall and we remember the word we want is āartificialā.
I couldn't remember the word "doorknob" ten minutes ago.
