My favorite scenes in the LotR books are the ones where Legolas has vital information and just decides it's not important to share.

Like when Gandalf spent literal PAGES trying to figure out why the vibes were off in Moria and Legolas chimes in with just "it's a balrog :) that shit's evil :) we're so fucked :)" like what do you MEAN you knew already and just didn't tell him??

Or at the beginning of Two Towers when Aragorn thinks there's something nearby so he puts his ear to the ground to listen, and then like 10 minutes later is like "hmmm i hear horses" and Legolas is just like "mm yep. there are 105 blond bitches with spears" like you just let your friend put his face in the dirt and you can SEE them??

Legolas please gain a sense of urgency

Caleb “whipped” Widogast.

Caleb’s said no to giving things to her, like swatting her hand away when she tried to paint a smiley face onto his stone early on, the very same stone he shoved into her hands to help her with concentration on Rumblecusp, so the growth there is undeniable, but Caleb’s never really been able to say no to DOING things for her. 

Giving her his things, or letting her see his books, yes, but he never really said no to doing things for her. 

He let her braid his hair, because she was enjoying herself. He helped her cheat at the card game and gave her pieces of his paper to make her pamphlets. He gave  her the money he found, and that was all within the first ten episodes.

I think on one hand if Jester ever went down a scary cult leader arc that Caleb would drag her back to the light (with the entire Mighty Nein’s help), but then I remember that one time where Caleb asked Jester if he could be “her follower”

And then I envision Caleb putting on his #1 Jester Lavorre Apologist shirt with Nott and being like “well...she was isolated and secluded her whole life...And she has been repressing her emotions for a long time in favor of helping others...maybe a little carnage is earned ??????”

On conservation and survival

This brought tears to my conservationist heart today.

The continued existence of these species is the legacy of so many people whose names we will never know--some of who never lived to see the impacts of their work.

When you count up the flaws of our species, you have to count the good things too--out of the many species throughout Earth's history that have caused the demise or endangerment of other species, we are the only one that tries to fix it out of our fascination and love for other life forms.

•Green sea turtles are no longer endangered

•Giant pandas are no longer endangered

•Panamanian golden frogs were returned to the wild for the first time since they were wiped out by chytrid 17 years ago

•The Eastern humpback whale population has exceeded pre-whaling numbers and many other whale species are showing strong signs of recovery

•Salmon and bison have been returned to their former habitat in multiple parts of the US through dam removal, habitat restoration, and reintroduction

•The Western monarch migration was up 60% compared to last year

•Galapagos tortoises were reintroduced to Floreana for the first time in 180 years

•Attenborough's long beaked echidna was rediscovered after being though extinct for decades

•Five "lost" island bird species were documented by citizen scientist birders in 2025

imagine being a criminal in gotham doing your criminal thing and it’s 2:45am and you see a shadow towering over you and you’re like yeah cool it’s batman i have a few new toys i bought off ebay that i’m pretty sure the joker was auctioning for 12p including shipping. and then you turn around and batman’s there alright, stupid bat ears and all, let’s see if this ends with you on gotham general’s porch or comically tied around a lamp post with a sticky note on your forehead for the police. but. you notice batman is smiling. even worse it’s not the bad creepy smile you’ve heard about, the one like he was asked by the school photographer to show some teeth for picture day before he unleashes some mortal kombat left arrow right arrow, up, up, A, A, B, left arrow moves. it’s a genuinely warm smile. friendly. naturally charming even. and you’re pretty sure that’s not how it works. what is going on mr. bat. did a superman enemy decide to play tourist again with poor gotham city after the scheduled wednesday metropolis kidnapping went without a hitch and now you’ve got some brainiac type of shapeshifter in your midst? could that be it?

and then Possibly Brainiac Batman cracks a joke and it’s kinda funny. if you told bob about it he’d laugh and bob never laughs so that means it’s legit. bob’s a dick. and then Could Be Brainiac Batman does a little whirl in the air before landing in front of you with a flourish. it’s kind of very good actually, there was no leg shaking at landing or anything. that’s impressive that takes some real skill. and it starts clicking. the grace. the poise. the talent. the panache. the lull in the air giving a taste of the entailing vexation of what you know is about to be one of most annoying fights of your life because this kid has never shut up in his life no matter what
