So after drowning myself in Remus Lupin's bio on Pottermore, a few reminders

His father claimed werewolves ‘deserved nothing but death’

Fenrir Greyback bit him just before he turned 5

His parents feared he would never attend Hogwarts

Dumbledore played Gobstones with him

James, Sirius and Peter were his first ever friends

He didn’t stand up to James and Sirius more for bullying Snape because he was afraid he would lose them

He constantly feared rejection and put himself down

HE AVOIDED SO MUCH BECAUSE HE WAS AFRAID OF REJECTION BECAUSE HE PUT HIMSELF DOWN SO MUCH

He lost his three best friends in one night

HE DID LOVE TONKS

He threw himself into dangerous missions rather than confess his true feelings.

He thought he wasn’t worthy of her because of the mind set he had and swung constantly between loving her to bits and hating himself for doing so

He was thankful that Harry yelled at him

He (and Tonks) fought in The Battle of Hogwarts because they didn’t want their son to grow up in a Voldemort ruled world.

He never left Tonks again but he became inexperienced from not being in the field, which was what ultimately lead to his death during the battle.
