One-fifth of those surveyed found the phrase âNo offense, butâ to be offending.
No offense, but... I canât even... The winner, for the eighth year running, was âwhatever.â You know, right?
May the wild rumpus start!Â
Baby Brain
A new study shows womenâs brains change when theyâre pregnant, and those changes may last two years. Grey Matter decreases in pregnant women, and researchers think this makes them become more in touch with other peoplesâ feelings. The more the momsâ brains changed, the more emotionally attached they were to their babies.

November 18, 1883: Railroads Create the First Time Zones
On this day in 1883, American and Canadian railroads began using four continental time zones. This stemmed from schedulersâ confusion transporting passengers across thousands of local times. Most towns in the United States had their own local times based on âhigh noonâ when the sun reached its highest point in the sky.
The railroad companies created the new time coding system without assistance from the federal government. Most Americans and Canadians embraced the time zones since railroads were the primary link between the two countries. Congress did not officially adopt the time zones until 1918 under the Interstate Commerce Commission.
Check out American Experienceâs âStreamlinersâ timeline of significant events related to the development of American railroads.

"Weâre a shadowy political pressure group offering college students alcohol to get them to forego subsidized healthcare for the sake of our long-term political advantage. But weâre pretty sure weâre not the creepy ones.â
Prancercise explained: Galloping around like a horse may not be the best way to get fit You can prance if you want to, but the latest fitness trend taking over the Internet might not be the best answer to avoiding the gym. Is Prancercise a viable training exercise to add to your regimen? No. In fact, it is probably not the best idea to parade around like Seabiscuit with ankle weights because a lady on the Internet told you it was a good idea. âBut the Prancercise website shows her running with a white stallion,â you protest. âThis must be real.â (YouTube)

Angelina Jolie had a double mastectomy, in case you hadnât heard. How dare she remove those ticking time bombs from her chest, amiright? Like, hasnât she learned by now that her body is public domain and we all get to vote on what she does with it? Sheesh, how selfish can ya get.
Breasts: The New Enemy?
Longcat is long, but that wasnât always the case For when he was born, he was barely a face His body looked shrunk; he was really quite small Longcat was not very long at all
The doctors all worried he may never grow His parents were sad and hoped that wasnât so But as he got older, his length did not increase And when at the playground, the children would tease Saying: âLongcatâs not long. Heâs short as can be! Iâve got hairs on my head that are longer than he!â
The words that were muttered made Longcat quite sad He prayed to be longer, if only a tad Determined to grow, he took matters in his own paws He tried all manner of things to help his lengthy cause He stretched and pulled and took vitamins by the pound He tied weights to his legs and dangled high above the ground
But nothing was working, he was out of get-long schemes He had almost abandoned all of his get-long dreams But while taking a walk, with his head hanging low He noticed a something that might make him grow It looked old and spooky, like some carnival game Inside was a genie. Zoltar was his name It asked for his wish, with its eyes all aglow âI wish to be long. Can you please make it so?â
Zoltar shaked and quaked and rumbled and grumbled Longcat became startled, and to the ground he tumbled Then he came to his senses, and looked down at his feet But they were no further⌠Zoltar was a cheat! To bed Longcat went, with the grumpiest of moans But the magic was working, tingling in his bones
The very next day he arose with a yawn To his surprise he was looking down at his lawn He had grown out the sides of his home during the night As he basked in his longness, he was filled with delight
Longcat was long! His wish had been granted! Zoltar the Genie was indeed enchanted! But there was a catch to the wish he received⌠He grew longer and longer each time that he breathed Looking at him before, he seemed just a speck But to look at him now put a kink in your neck
He grewâŚ
And grewâŚ
And grewâŚ
And grewâŚ
When he would stop, no one knew.
People came from all over to see his awesome size And many did faint, they could not believe their eyes
Longcatâs endless length was getting out of hand He had grown much longer than he ever planned âIâm much too long! Itâs quite lonely in space. Now I long for those days when I was barely a face.â Longcat held his breath in the hopes to ungrow And to his great surprise, his expansion did slow As he proceeded to shrink his immeasurable girth He began to de-long his long way back to Earth
He realized he could be any length he could wish As tall as a building or as small as a fish Once Longcat had reached a more reasonable size He realized being too long was really unwise âTo be âJust long enoughâ is just fine with meâŚÂ Being super long isnât all itâs cracked up to be.â Longcat was grateful to be any size he desired And vowed only to lengthen to the size he required
All was right in the world; the children no longer teased Longcat is long. And for that, he is pleased
Sixty-five years ago, rich kids had all the fun.
Hereâs how it works: A library card gets you a packet of seeds. You then grow the fruits and vegetables, harvest the new seeds from the biggest and best, and return those seeds so the library can lend them out to others.Â
