You locked the bathroom door with a small click. Well now what… There were no windows, so a movie style escape was far from possible. Closing the lid to the toilet you sat down and pulled your knees close. After a few minutes passed there was a knock on the door.

“Hey babe if your almost done in there I got some clothes for you to change into. Should fit better so you’re not panty-flashing my roommates anymore.” You could practically hear the smug look on his face. Going to the door you opened it enough to get the clothes.

“Pervert.” You stated before shutting the door as quickly as possible and beginning to change, a snicker could be heard from outside. The shirt was a dark purple and it came with some comfortable sweatpants. They fit you perfectly, because of course. It got you thinking again, between this and the underwear something was up. Sure, this could have been a coincidence but you’re starting to doubt it. Opening the door to leave you went face first into something solid. Dabi was leaning right in the door frame. You became flustered only for a moment before ducking under his arm to squeeze by him.

“Well it’s been sometime, so the laundry should be done right?” You looked at him as he walked up to you and slung his arm around your shoulder.

“Nah not yet, think it’s just in the dryer right now.” Most likely a lie. It had probably been several hours by now since you had gotten up, and even more if he had put them in the wash last night like he had claimed.

“Right, so how much longer exactly? I don’t want to be a burden to you or your roommates and honestly I do have some errands I need to get done before I go back to work.” He didn’t seem to like that statement you inferred by the drop in his expression.

“Not sure, but just wait here and I’ll go check.” And with that he abruptly shoved you back into his room. You sat on his bed for a while, quite frankly you were bored out of your mind and had exhausted every plan you could possibly think of for escape besides just making a run for it and hoping he doesn’t turn you into yakitori. Looking around you did decide to start poking through some of his stuff. What does a wanted villain have anyways?

First place you checked was under the bed. Not a whole lot there besides some lewd magazines. Figures, dude seems like a total pervert to begin with… Next came the minifridge which was mostly stocked with beer but also had some soft drinks too. Why on earth would he only stock alcohol when he practically lives in a bar? You took several of the drinks and shook them. If that was the only power you had right now, you’ll take it. Just imagining him opening the can to get a shot of carbonated beverage to the face was 100% worth it.

Lastly came the closet, sliding the first door open you were met unsurprisingly with a few hangers holding white tank tops. Some were more singed than others but none of them were a pure white by any means. You could just barely see the other side, so you closed the first door and opened the other. Covering your mouth before you let out any noise. The more you looked the more it chilled you to the core. It was a hobbled together shrine of some sort, more of a collection. Photos littered the area; all having been taken in different places with varying clarity. Picking up one was a blurry photo, but you could tell what it was, after all how would you not be able to recognize the window looking into your bedroom. There were other items too, like some sort of messed up I spy. Loose hair, underwear, even a sock that looked a little stiffer than it should have been.

“Now doll it’s rude to go poking around in other people's belongings. Or well, I shouldn’t be talking now, should I?” You were backed into the corner of the room. Dabi leaned down next to you and picked up the photo you had dropped in your surprise. “This was a good one. First time I found your place and I was lucky enough that you left the curtains open just enough. I was so excited the shot got out of focus. But it’s not like I need that damn camera anymore when I got the real thing right in front of me.”

“You’re sick…” That’s all you could say as you froze in place. He reached towards your head and you slapped his hand away. Pulling it back, small flame emerged, and even though it wasn’t close you could tell the heat it radiated. Not something you’d want to touch.

“Hold up sweetheart, you were behaving so well and now you’re acting up? We can’t have that now can we.” Despite being a lanky figure he hoisted you up by your arm almost effortlessly. You were taken out of the room an dragged to a few doors down towards the dead-end. Pounding on his hand to let you go was only met with a burning sensation that made you yelp in pain. There were a few steps down that ten led to a darkened basement type room. The floor was exposed concrete, and it was cold. Hanging from the ceiling was a lone lightbulb that managed to do a decent job at lighting up the room. In the back was a rather comfortable looking bed. It would be something you would have liked to have, but under these circumstances you wanted nothing to do with it. He threw you against the bed, body bouncing off it slightly as the wind was knocked out of you. You felt something cold on your ankle followed by a click. Dabi had fastened a metal cuff around your limb attaching it to the bottom bedpost.

“Sorry if the set up is a little bare. Was hoping to get more decorations before bringing you home but you just gave me to perfect opportunity. Like hell I was going to let you slip away one more time.”

You could hear faint sounds coming from his room, knocking on the door you slowly opened it. He was sitting at his desk, as always, but instead of playing some sort of game the computer screen was completely black. You instantly knew what he was thinking. His face reflected back at him, and he traced the scars under his eyes and around his lips. Catching your reflection in the screen as you approached, his hands dropped into his lap and he swiveled his chair around.

“Do you need something?” he asked, voice raspy and tired.

“Yeah but I’ll just be real quick I promise!” Looking over his shoulder to his desk he turned to see what you were looking at. Still confused he turned back to you.

“What is it-“ as soon as he turned you gave him a kiss on the cheek, followed by smaller smooches all over his shocked face.

“There! Just had to make sure you knew how much I love you! I saw you scratching at your face again, and I just want you to know that I love you. After all, how you look now is the face I fell for.” You pulled him in a tight hug. He looked away, never the best at expressing how he felt to others. But you know that he could feel just how much you love him.

As you opened your eyes, the world around you was fuzzy. Your limbs felt strained, you assumed from the late night you had, and the poor comfort falling asleep in a rocky cave would provide. Stretching out, you finally realized you weren’t in that cave at all, but rather on a bed. It didn’t have the fluffiest bedding, and the whole thing smelled like a campfire. Looking around the small room you saw very few things. First was a closet built into the wall, the sliding doors were shut. There was a bedside table with a small glass of water, and a very dusty lamp, you doubt that it was even functioning. The grey-ish wallpaper was peeling in some spots, other places had scorch marks. Tucked into the corner was a minifridge. The room was small, but reasonably so for a place in Tokyo.

Thinking back to how you could have gotten here, your face went hot as you start thinking the worse. You weren’t plastered drunk, so it was unlikely you made… questionable choices with the stranger. Quickly lifting up the blankets it was confirmed that at some point, you had changed clothes out of the party dress. However, you had no memory of doing so, and the t-shirt was certainly not yours.

“Good morning princess, I see you’re liking my shirt.” Lost in thought trying to put together the past night, you didn’t hear the bedroom door open. It was Dabi, leaning against the doorframe with a small bag of convenience store food. The sudden intrusion caused you to slam down the blanket to cover yourself, head shooting up to look at the man.

“Good morning…So uh, how exactly did I get here? And where exactly is here?” You spoke confused and apprehensive of the situation.

“Well, the storm cleared up, and you fell asleep basically on top of me. Trust me, trying to wake you up seemed harder than waking the dead. And I decided to take you to my place rather than spending a full night in a cave. After all, it’s not like I know where you live, and we weren’t far from here anyways. What’s your face red for? We didn’t do anything…” He walked towards the bed as he spoke. Leaning in he whispered in your ear, “But we can if that’s what you were hoping for.” With a sudden movement you swiftly smacked him across the face, not even realizing what you had done before he started laughing.

“Geez babe message received, I was just joking!” His laughter died down, as he opened the paper sack, tossing you a neatly wrapped egg sandwich. “Here, I figured you might be hungry when you woke up but it seems like you have enough energy for the both of us.” Dabi sat down at the end of the bed. “Oh, and if you hear any noises, that’s probably my roommates. So uh, you might not want to leave the room just yet in nothing but my shirt unless you want them to get the wrong idea.” He gestured towards the door. “Your dress is still in the wash, it reeked.”

“Well it’s not like I’ve got work today, but you could have just woke me up in the cave you know. I’m not that deep of a sleeper. And besides, you’ve done so much for me already the last thing I want to do is burden you with my laundry.” You saw him smile ever so slightly.

“Yeah, figured you wouldn’t go out partying before work, don’t seem like that much of a rebel to me. And what was more of a burden would have been cleaning my sheets if you had climbed in here with those dirty rags.” The conversation you two were having was cut short as loud banging noises could be heard from just outside the room.

“Dabi you have to introduce us to your new girl toy-” A feminine but crazed voice shouted. Another, slightly deeper and gruff voice cut her off. “He said to leave them alone! Don’t you listen!” Dabi got visibly angered at the interruption, abruptly standing up and opening the door to shout.

“You said you’d leave me alone you crazy bitch! Go stalk someone else.” The younger girl bent down to peek around Dabi and his attempts to block the door.

“Aww she’s cute! No wonder you’ve taken a liking to her!” The blonde was immediately kicked back as Dabi pushed his foot in her face before turning to speak to you.

“Sorry about this, give me just a second.” With that he stepped out and slammed the door shut, wooden frame creaking from the hit. He must have dragged his ‘roommates’ away from the door as the shouting match became muffled by the walls.

You turned your attention to the egg sandwich, finishing it up and putting the trash back in the paper bag. To say there was a lot to think about was an understatement, nothing was adding up. You remember falling asleep on him back in the cave, but to be carried at least the distance to make it outside of the park would have woken you up for sure. Plus, if he claimed you were just ‘hard to wake up’ how did you change out of your clothes? Looking back down, you decided to look at your underwear, after all you didn’t have a change and it would have needed washed like everything else. Not to mention you did choose something more… decorative for the night out. Panic seemed to bubble up as you noticed a normal pair, it was yours for sure, but one you thought you lost weeks ago. Maybe you had put it in your purse? Unlikely, but to think that Dabi had some involvement in your current outfit sent shivers down your spine.

You needed to distract yourself. He was a helpful stranger, he didn’t ‘try anything’ in the cave, it would have been easy for him too, but he didn’t. Getting up from the bed you decided to pace the room. It was then you noticed the corner of a paper sticking out of the drawer of the nightstand. Bending to open the drawer you gasped and dropped the flyer as it floated down to the carpet. The paper read:

WANTED: Dabi

QUIRK: Cremation

If you see this villain report his siting to heroes and police immediately. Member of the League of Villains, extremely dangerous.

The flyer was complete with a picture of Dabi, smugly grinning. It clicked where you had noticed him from, police had come into your work one day showing that same photo and asking if anyone had seen him. You quickly put it back in the drawer. First, you needed to calm down, right now he’s not hurting you, he’s being friendly, and hopefully you can just come up with some excuse to safely leave.

Walking to the door, you turned the handle and opened it, at least he didn’t lock you in. Looking out you saw a long, dead-end hallway in one direction, and what seemed to be an entryway on the other. You pulled the edge of your shirt down, Dabi was bigger than you, sure, but his shirt barely covered your panties. Peeking out you saw what looked like a bar setting, a misty figure cleaning glasses behind the bar, booth seating to the side, and an all-out brawl in the center of the room. Dabi was ready with a fist full of flames, the blond girl was giggling whilst holding a knife, and there were two others. A man in a grey and black jumpsuit holding her back, and encouraging her, and a lizard-like man trying to calm down Dabi. Maybe it was a good time to sneak past while everyone was preoccupied.

Attempting to reach the door you decided to walk under the bar just behind the stools. It was working, you had made it to the end of the bar before a gloved hand reached down to help you up.

“I don’t think this is fitting for a lady such as yourself. And just look at the state of you, only a fool would have you walking around in such shabby outfits.” The man helped you up and tipped his hat, he must have been sitting in the booths behind the fight, unable to see him at first. With that the room became quiet as the attention was put on you.

“Hey babe, I thought you were going to wait for me, right? What are you doing out here?” Dabi stopped and started stomping his way towards you.

“I uh, needed to use the bathroom?” Your voice was shaking, you just wanted to make yourself as small as possible and just disappear right now. The villain raised a brow at you before wrapping his arm around you, walking you back towards the hallway you came from. What had you gotten yourself into.

Man in the Moon Ch.1 - Night Out

This is the first chapter to this series I'm starting for Dabi x f!Reader! Unlike some of my other stuff this may get a bit darker, but I will make sure to thoroughly tag when it does!

The winds blew forcefully against you, cold and sharp against your skin. Silently cursing yourself over your choice of dress, as it did nothing to prevent the wind and drizzle of rain. You had been out late partying with friends, or at least you thought so until you couldn’t find them. Your phone was dead, the trains were all delayed and partially damaged due to a recent villain attack, and like hell you were about to pay for a taxi that cost an arm and leg. Not that you had the cash after the night out anyways. Walking towards what seemed to be the right direction, you quickly learned that it wasn’t. Whilst stuck in your thoughts you ended up in a park of some sorts. The playground and other areas had been modified for different quirks, accessible for all types of people to hang out.

Although the surrounding trees caught parts of the wind, you could tell the storm was only getting worse. At this rate you’d feel like you’d freeze to death before dawn broke. Seeing a small cave in the distance you figure that was the best bet at some ounce of comfort. Making your way there you heard a snap. It was the heel of your shoe snapping off, causing you to twist your ankle in the process. It wasn’t much further when you had managed to limp your way to whatever comfort a dry cave could bring.

Sitting down on the dirt floor you let out a loud sigh, the noise echoed around you. Opening your bag you pulled out a handkerchief and tried the best you could to wipe off the mud and rain. “I don’t think that rag’s gonna help you at all babe. But damn do you look pathetic right now.” A deep voice called out, causing you to jump a whip your head around trying to find its source. Footsteps came closer as from the dark of the cave you saw two ice blue eyes pierce through the black. The man almost looked worse off than you, with the exception of not being soaking wet. He smelled of ash and campfire, clothing dirtied by mud. His face, neck, and arms were covered in deep purple scar tissue, seemingly only still attached by the accompanying staples. Taking his thumb he wiped away a bead of blood that had formed by his eye.

“Don’t worry I’m like you, just waiting out the storm…” His eyes traced your form, staring just a second longer than what felt normal. “But unlike you at least I can keep warm.” Showing off he snapped his finger and a tiny blue flame bloomed. It’s warmth tempting, but the man who stood in front of you set off all the wrong signals. Even still, you couldn’t help but shiver in response. Either the man took pity on you or he had something to gain from this, whatever his reason he took a seat next to you. Instinctively you tried to put some distance between you two, your twisted ankle objected, causing you to wince. “Easy babe, easy. Being honest I’m fuckin exhausted, and I’m not gonna try anything. Besides I don’t even know your name sweetheart.”

You replied telling him your name, accidently going on a rant and massively oversharing in the process. You told him about the night you had, getting abandoned, poor luck with the trains, even explaining colorfully how you twisted your ankle. Admittedly this mystery man was good at listening. You learned his name was Dabi, it sounded familiar, but nothing came to mind. Could have been a customer at the coffee shop you worked at. The rain wasn’t letting up any, and to your surprise he found some sticks that ended up in the cave before the downpour, dry and perfect for a fire. Dabi made quick work of the setup, and in no time at all there was a campfire that let the two of you keep warm. To go with the fire you reached back into your bag and pulled out some slightly squished granola bars.

“Ah, I see some one is a fan of fine dining.” Dabi snickered as he took the small snack.

“Hey at least be grateful I have something and that I’m willing to share.” You barked back, giggling at the end. After all, a broken snack was the bare minimum for the thanks you felt with the roaring fire drying you off. The two of you opened the bars and stared outside into the darkness. Although the rain had not let up in the slightest, the moon shone brightly through the clouds. It was full and you could see the craters, remembering all the different stories you’ve heard about why they are there and what they look like. “What do you think it looks like?” you asked, a bite of granola still rolling around in your mouth. Dabi looked at you and made a questioning sound. “You know, the moon. Everyone has a different story for it. Sometimes it’s a bunny pounding mochi, other times it’s a face or just some cheese.”

“Don’t care, it’s just a rock.” That was his answer, tone distracted and distant.

“Aw come on, everyone knows it’s just a rock. You’re a real people person huh.” You shrugged, turning your gaze back to the sky.

“Alright fine, I guess it looks like a face. The moon’s got one fucked up face with scars and whatnot. An ugly motherfucker.” He spoke, finishing his sentence with a bite to his snack. You gulped down a piece of yours before speaking up.

“I wouldn’t say ugly, after all a pretty face is nice, but it’s not worth much if the person it’s attached to doesn’t have a story to tell.” It was blatantly obvious that the moon comment was an attempt to stab at his own self-image. Maybe it’s not your business in the slightest, but he was nice enough to help you out, being kind is the least anyone can do. After that the two of you sat in silence, watching the rain. Having been out all night you could feel your eyelids getting heavy. Your exhausted form gently rested against Dabi, drawn in by his warmth. It was so quiet with the crackling of the fire you hadn’t realized you fell asleep in a stranger’s arms.

He waited a few moments just to make sure you had actually fallen asleep. Reaching down into a pocket he pulled out a pink flip phone with a bunny keychain. Pressing a few numbers, the phone was answered almost immediately. The phone flipped shut as in the darkness of the cave, a swirl of purple opened up.

Expect the hideout to be decked out in party streamers and decorations (he stayed up all night after you went to bed)

Couldn’t decide between a few things for what to get you, so he got it all

Overhaul

He doesn’t understand why people go all out for birthdays, but it makes you happy so he’ll go along with it

Sends out all the main members of the Shie Hassaikai to get meticulously thought out presents, decorations, etc

Takes you out to a fancy restaurant before surprising you with gifts the moment you both return to the compound
