@littleroxy13
These pages have been going around a lot lately. It;s from a story I wrote for Wonder Womanâs 75th Anniversary Special, and I am reblogging to make sure that the artist/co-creator, Colleen Doran, gets proper credit for making Star-Blossom so adorable! :)
This cured my depression
adults, while forcing all children above the age of 5 to sit still, be silent, and obey orders for 7-8 hours a day with minimal breaks, reducing their exposure to fresh air and sunlight to almost nothing, forcing them to alter their natural sleeping patterns to increase productivity, and repeatedly telling them their self worth depends on their being able to follow these instructions perfectly for 13 or more years: kids these days are so lazy! they never go outside! they never want to do anything! clearly itâs not because of us!
The way we treat children is extremely inhumane, but so many adults want to dismiss it because itâs so normalized
You⊠You do realize thatâs what itâs like to be a working adultâŠ? And our days are even longer.
thats because an 8 hour work day is extortion and should be illegal. next question.
Either youâve never had a job or youâre just lazy af. Thereâs nothing wrong with 9 to 5 jobs. Nobody is forcing people to work them and people need the hours to make more money. People get breaks too.
Please take a biology class & get some help. People shouldnt have to do work 80% of the day to survive.
@captainjack1999
1. the eight-hour work-day is cruelty
2. capitalism is forcing people to work. i could just quit my job and hang out at home - but then i would lose my house and most likely starve to death, because of the way our economy works.
3. breaks for most establishments are a mere 30 minutes for an 8-hour shift; at my first job, for a 6-hour shift, your break would only be 15 minutes and any longer shift would only get 30. studies say people are more productive if for every hour you work, you get a 15-minute break - meaning, for an 8-hour shift, youâd need an hour-long break, and so on and so forth.
the way modern society views work is unhealthy for loads of reasons, not just what i mentioned here. the fact that weâre preparing children for such a torturous lifestyle is horrific.
Also likeâŠ. small children are not adults. Small children should not be held to the same standards as adults. Even if the 8 hour work day WAS healthy, it would be inhumane to hold a small child to the same standard.
The school system was literally designed to train people for factory work back when child labour was legal so that should tell you how fucked that is
âŠâŠâŠ.I never realized that.
People say âit happens to adults tooâ in order to downplay something that happens to children, even though it shouldnât happen to adults either, and the entire reason it happens to children is to normalize it so people tolerate it when theyâre adults.
i am LOSING IT

When you realize this man is the voice of Carlos from Welcome to Night Vale
Wait he is? Thatâs what he looks like? What is this video called
Itâs a Ted talk by Dylan Marron âEmpathy Is Not Endorsementâ which is one that all of us may need to listen to, tbh
Shit they were right. Carlos does have perfect hair.
Weirdly anti-millennial articles have scraped the bottom of the barrel so hard that they are now two feet down into the topsoil
its so wild like âthis generation with no fucking money is learning to prioritize essentialsâ and all these chucklefucks can write is advertisements for these companies
at least our jeans wonât tear at the seams after two washes
FUCK FABRIC SOFTENER ITâS UTTERLY POINTLESS
AND FUCK DRYER SHEETS LITERALLY NOBODY EVER HAS ENOUGH OF A PROBLEM WITH STATIC TO WARRANT PAYING OUT THE ASS FOR THAT SHIT
DO YOU WANT CLEAN CLOTHES? YOU DONâT EVEN NEED TO BUY FUCKING DETERGENT JUST MAKE YOUR OWN* ITâS SO GODDAMN EASY AND 80X CHEAPER
FUCK THE ENTIRE LAUNDRY INDUSTRY *Fuck The Entire Laundry Industry Recipe
1 cup Washing Soda (not Baking Soda. Different things.)
1 cup Borax (not Boric Acid. Also a different thing.)
œ cup - 1 cup grated bar soap (you can use literally anything. I often use Ivory because itâs easy to get and I find it works well, a lot of people like Fels-Naptha, which is an actual laundry bar. Some people use Dr. Bronnerâs. Really does not fucking matter.) After grating your soap, combine all ingredients. Thatâs it. Thatâs the whole thing. Use maybe a ÂŒ cup per load.
^^^ Iâve done this for years now and it works as well as any store bought detergent
WHAT Thank you, tumblr user awfullydull! Your URL does no justice to the good advice you give!
Also you can MAKE your own washing soda very VERY cheaply.
Step one: acquire $5 bag of baking soda from Costco.
Step two: lay that motherfucking baking soda out on a baking tray.
Step three: bake the baking soda on a tray in an oven at 400° for 1 hour (to make the moisture evaporate, leaving washing soda)
Step four: revel in how easy and cheap it is to make your own washing soda, and maybe take a moment to be angry that the industry upcharges the fuck out of something that is so easy to make.
I see some of y'all complaining about static and/or wanting nice smelling laundry. Go to a craft store, find 100% wool yarn balls. If it doesnât come in a ball, ask an employee to make it into a tight ball for you. Wash in the washing machine to make it felted. Remove from washer, add a few drops of essential oil to the ball, allow to seep in. Dry with clothing. Doesnât need to be rewashed ever, and if it stops smelling, add few more drops of essential oil. Bam, reusable dryer sheets.
I love this post so much itâs filled with helpful advice, hatred, saving money, and fucking the system all in one
Kudos to all of this, but donât ask a craft store employee at a chain craft store to make your wool yarn into a tight ball for you. I worked at JoAnn Fabrics for a year and a half. We literally have no resources or ability to do something like that. You could do a better job yourself at home. The chain craft store employee canât look up a youtube tutorial for making yarn laundry balls on the clock, you can.
If someone had walked up to me while I was working at JoAnn and asked me to take a half hour or more out of my shift to try and fail in making some kind of tight yarn laundry contraption I probably would have burst into tears. And if my manager had come out and found me trying and failing to wind yarn when I was supposed to be running go backs I would have gotten a talking to. Craft store employees arenât allowed, able, or willing to do your crafts for you. Thatâs why itâs a craft store.
Donât hurt retail workers in your quest for overriding the capitalist system. For the love of everything beautiful please just look it up.
These are all great ways to reduce waste we produce from constantly buying detergent, softener, and dryer sheets.

Infos about Article 13 and European copyright law from a Member of European Parliament
Listened to a very interesting podcast, that has an interview with the German Member of European Parliament Tiemo Wölken about the new European copyright (sadly in German). He was against article 13 and 16 and explains and gives insight to what is intended with the law, what might happen in the worst case, why people still voted for it, what happens next, and most of all what we can do.
Some things from it:
Article 13 will come. There will be upload filters. Thereâs no way for the parliament to stop it now. You have the European Council and the European Parliament. Both discuss now about the new copyright, but they can only change stuff, where they both disagree. Both approved of Article 13 though, so they canât change that any longer.
Donât message your MP any longer. They canât do anything now. Message your government. The European governments are the only ones, who can stop it now.
The new law is clearly intended for Facebook and Google. It only applies to companies with more than 50 employees. And it clearly applies to platforms, not private persons. For us this means if Tumblr has more than 50 employees, weâre fucked. If not it wouldnât apply.
The MPs that are for the law really think that upload filter donât need to happen, because they didnât say they have to. They think thereâs another technical solution that can only filter the stuff that is copyrighted, but will still allow stuff that is clearly a meme or art or satire based on it. (Hint. There isnât and there canât be.)
The German MPs that voted for it, did so, because the law entails good laws for small artists that sell their copyright, among other things. Article 14-16 allows them to re-negotiate if the new copyright holder basically duped them. For example a writer writes something that becomes a bestseller, then they can re-negotiate to get more. Or a company doesnât use the copyright, so the original artists doesnât get anything, then they can claim their copyright back.
If the law happens you canât cite anything any longer. Nothing. Writing headlines from newsarticles will be forbidden in the worst case. Google uses the headlines for their search and you can see those and a few summarising words. Based on that you decide if you click a link (and give money to the newssite/publishers) or not. Publishers want to get paid for that from google/facebook. He thinks that is bollocks, because if you go to a news agent you can read the headlines and decide if you want to buy or not. Same should apply to the internet, but now they make you pay to read the headlines. The publishers try to get money for stuff that they never got money for.Â
He thinks there should be some fair use and that the law simply isnât fit in the way it was drafted.
What happens now: European council and European parliament negotiate their different positions (as they agree on article 13, they donât negotiate that at all.) By the end of the year/early next year theyâll probably have a combined position. Then the parliament will vote again if they agree with the changes made. (From his position they will definitely do so. Itâs only a technicality.) Then (and thatâs the only point where we still might have influence) all 27 member states have to agree on it. So thatâs why you have to message your national government!Â
THIS POST WOULDNâT BE POSSIBLE WITH THE NEW COPYRIGHT LAW AS I SUMMARISE COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL AND SHARE THE CONTENT ON THE INTERNET WITHOUT HAVING PAID THE COPYRIGHT HOLDER.
Donât ask someone with dementia if they âknow your nameâ or âremember youâ
If I can, I always opt to ditch my name tag in a dementia care environment. I let my friends with dementia decide what my name is: Iâve been Susan, Gwendolyn, and various peoplesâ kids. Iâve been so many identities to my residents, too: a coworker, a boss, a student, a sibling, a friend from home, and more.Â
Donât ask your friend with dementia if they âremember your nameâ â especially if that person is your parent, spouse, or other family member. Itâs quite likely to embarrass them if they canât place you, and, frankly, it doesnât really matter what your name is. What matters is how they feel about you.
Hereâs my absolute favorite story about what I call, âTimeline Confusionâ:
Alicia danced down the hallway, both hands steadily on her walker. She moved her hips from side to side, singing a little song, and smiled at everyone she passed. Her son, Nick, was walking next to her.
Nick was probably one of the best caregivers Iâd ever met. It wasnât just that he visited his mother often, it was how he visited her. He was patient and kindâreally, he just understood dementia care. He got it.
Alicia was what I like to call, âpleasantly confused.â She thought it was a different year than it was, liked to sing and dance, and generally enjoyed her life.
One day, I approached the pair as they walked quietly down the hall. Alicia smiled and nodded at everyone she passed, sometimes whispering a, âHow do you do!â
âHey, Alicia,â I said. âWeâre having a piano player come in to sing and play music for us. Would you like to come listen?â
âAh, yes!â she smiled back. âMy husband is a great singer,â she said, motioning to her son.
Nick smiled and did not correct her. He put his hand gently on her shoulder and said to me, âWeâll be over there soon.â
I saw Nick again a few minutes later while his mom was occupied with some other residents. âNick,â I said. âDoes your mom usually think that youâre her husband?â
Nick said something that Iâll never forget.
âSometimes Iâm me, sometimes Iâm my brother, sometimes Iâm my dad, and sometimes Iâm just a friend. But she always knows that she loves me,â he smiled.
Nick had nailed it. He understood that, because his mom thought it was 1960, she would have trouble placing him on a timeline.
He knew that his mom recognized him and he knew that she loved him. However, because of her dementia, she thought it was a different year. And, in that year, he wouldâve been a teenager.
Using context clues (however mixed up the clues were) Alicia had determined that Nick was her husband: he was the right age, he sure sounded and looked like her husband, and she believed that her son was a young man.
This is the concept that I like to call timeline confusion. Itâs not that your loved one doesnât recognize you, itâs that they canât place you on a timeline.
What matters is how they feel about you. Not your name or your exact identity.

It was a 438 to 226 fucking landslide vote too. (https://www.theverge.com/2018/9/12/17849868/eu-internet-copyright-reform-article-11-13-approved)
Theyâre voting on it one last time in January 2019, but thatâs barely any time to change anything!!!!
You still have time to call your MEPs so PLEASE!!! Do so.
If youâre outside of the EU, sign this petition: https://www.change.org/p/axel-voss-save-the-internet-reject-article-13-and-11?recruiter=839558037&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=copylink&utm_campaign=share_petition

Guys, we need to stop this somehow. Please.
Call your MEPs. Sign petitions. Protest (Peacefully please. Donât get hurt).
Iâm sorry for tagging you guys if you donât want to be or already know, I just want as many people to know as possible!
I canât tag everyone, but if you see this, please reblog it. Spread the news. Sign the petition. Call your MEPs. Do what you can to help stop this from passing in January.
I donât live in Europe but this needs to be spread
Iâm spreading this because this is greatly unsettling to me. I live in europe and really canât imagine how the future would look like.
Yay another one
I couldnât help myself.Â
