Here's some fan art and a short review of The Amazing Digital Circus episode 9.

The Amazing Digital Circus isn't a perfect show, but Jax is fantastic trans fem rep. Yeah, he's a toxic misogynist asshole. I never called him a good role model.

What's beautiful about this show is the audience to gets to know and love/hate Jax before learning he's this sad repressed trans girl. Whether they know it or not, fans of the show definitely have friends/family who are secretly sad repressed trans girls. I know for a fact that everyone I met pre-transition knew at least one.

As someone who didn't come out till after her 40th birthday, this was such an accurate depiction of how repression completely destroys you. You're ruled by fear and self-loathing. Maybe you lash out. Or maybe you turn it all inward and harm yourself. It can consume you from the inside out till nothing's left.

I also liked how Jax's human counterpart hadn't visibly transitioned (yet?) because having a support network, being in a better place, or even being in queer spaces (i.e., Zooble's gay bar) doesn't necessarily mean you're ready to come out.

Anyway, I think Jax is neat.

Note: I firmly defend calling Jax by she/her pronouns due to the events of the finale, but I used he/him pronouns because he never came out. Pronouns aren't gender, etc.

Do you think, that should've given more characters from the main cast time to shine? I really like your show and like all of the characters, but sometimes some of them feel left out. But maybe that's just me, who knows

Yeah I'd agree with that, it's just a lot bigger of an undertaking than I'm sure a lot of people realize when you're the only writer and juggling so many different departments at once. It would have required more episodes, time, and stamina. Something I wasn't exactly graced with, being only Glitch's second creator driven show. I would have needed more writers and co-directors, because writing and directing even just 9 episodes basically killed me.

It's also a miracle I was allowed to make episode 9 as long as it was, because one thing a producer never ever wants to hear is "I'd like to make this longer." There will always be an incentive to cut things down over fleshing things out. Thankfully if I do another one of these, a lot of the kinks will hopefully be worked out from the beginning. Hopefully.

Takanori Arisawa was the man behind the OST of Digimon Adventure (as well as all the seasons until Frontier), but did you know that he was also the person behind the OST of Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon?

The song Starseed o itadaku wa (I’ll be taking the Starseed) was used in the final season of the classic Sailor Moon series, Sailor Stars (1996-1997). Takanori then reused this particular song in Adventure under the name Shuugeki! Soshite… (Attack! And then…), with a different arragement of course. Adventure’s version of the song has a faster tempo, and it lacks the opening bit from the original song (which I cut this out from this comparison).
