a terrifying clamour of trumpets - ShanaStorytellerTrisha’s disease is hereditary and ed has to race against the clock to tie all his lose ends. Heartbreaking and incredible.

Know the Difference - ShanaStorytellerEd and Al are messengers of God. The prose of this one is amazing, i don’t think i’ve read such wonderful freaking poetry half as good as this i love it.

Son of the Desert - ShanaStorytellerIshvalan!Ed&Al AU. The most wonderful thing about this is the way they propose in Ishval. Very poetic, good side-story as well. >v>

They Have All Been Blown Out - Tierfal“To say that waiting is not Ed’s forte would be understating matters a bit.” JUST- JUST READ IT. This is the other fic in the ‘Leading the blind’ series that i highly recommend (just read all of them you’ll have a great time) because i had to literally stop reading to print out a picture of kermit having a cardiac arrest. go read it now.

Play to Win - lightgetsin“Ed loses his virginity, and then his inhibitions. Roy loses his mind.” Any fic where ed is a slut is a fic for me B) also this is hilarious, i’m laughing just remembering it i HAVE to read it again.

A Game for Two Players - lightgetsin“The Bastard is not in love with me, and I can prove it. With science!” A follow-up on the previous fic. Fucking- i love it. i love them both please read’em this one’s good too.

transposition ciphers - applecrumbledoreAfter a heated encounter, Roy and Ed exchange letters during one of the brothers’ long trip. Simply one of the most beautiful fics in this list. The letters are so… compelling and lovely. You can absolutely TASTE them falling in love with each other during their correspondence. Delightful.

Feral - Phantoms_EchoEd and Al are feral children taken in by Roy and his team to their vet clinic. This one’s problematic i know and i don’t care, but it’s heartbreaking and really exciting so… meh, read at your own risk and all that. mind the tags.

Dragon’s Gold - BatsutousaiPrince Edward is sent to live in a tower in the desert, guarded by a fearsome dragon. This one’s so fuuun. I love dragons :3c

Moonlighter - BatsutousaiRoy is a cop and Ed is the thief who steals his heart B) I HAVE ALSO DONE ART FOR THIS it’s just… UNF. so good. this matches their personalities so well (especialy ed’s!!) go read it and have a good time you’ll enjoy it. 

silent in the trees - orphan_accountSet in 1989 Roy is a forest ranger with ptsd and ed is his sassy supervisor on the other end of the forest. My most favorite fma fic hands down I have drawn for this fic too and i still think it’s not enough!! i just… i don’t know what it is about it but it’s one of those things i adore. It’s almost mystical! I dont know where the author went but i hope they’re doing okay and that they know i love their fic to pieces.

Anachronism - artenonA time-travelling Ed ends up in Roy’s house. Read this for the love of god i just loved it so much. Read it and cry a little and then come back and yell at me for recommending it to you.

And one more thing - cryogeniaEd dates the entirety of central city, Roy is jealous. Please please please this is just the best. I can’t believe it it’s.. it’s so funny i love it so much just go and read it. Any time ed’s comfortable with his sexuality is good times and these, i assure you, are wonderful times.

Kindling - Tierfal“The heat’s not the only thing getting under Ed’s skin and scalding him from the inside out.“ Demisexual ed!! Sweet and good and wholesome. I love florence and the machine, and i just can’t stop thinking about this fic when i listen to her.

A Wicked Game - TierfalRoy and Ed pretend to be dating to go to an awesome vacation. Fake dating is the reason i’m alive, and this is just SO! GOOD! it’s so much fun to read, go ahead and do you won’t regret it B)

From the Worst of Times - Batsutousai Something goes off in central command and Roy and Ed team up to clean up the mess. Just— so sweet! and long! and good!! this author just makes everything so believable, everything makes perfect sense i don’t question any of it, it just is. simple as that. this is no exception, readi it you’ll enjoy it.

Second Chances, Second Thoughts - dawnstruckSomething goes wrong when Ed tries to give Al his body back. Kidfic. This one’s lovely. I just, i’ve read it several times and i can’t stop loving it. There’s so many good parts to it i’m in too deep.

My Heart and Soul are Yours - XyriathSOULMATES SOULMATES SOULMATES!! Pain is transmitted between soulmates and Ed and Roy have quite a few pains in their lives. This is just so sweet. And good. And sad.. these poor boys are injured so damn often it breaks my heart.

It’s a complete re-imagining of the story, and I can’t wait to finish reading it so i can hopefully bind it in a book and keep it on my shelf.

The Twelfth Cup of Coffee - TierfalCoffeeshop!AU. The single most fluffiest fluff to ever fluff. Totally amazing so far and completely enthralling. Also something I would bind as a book when i’m done.

build your wings on the way down - ShanaStorytellerA combination of ‘03 and Brotherhood! All i want from this life is for this fic to update but i don’t wanna bother the author like that ._. so i’ll just sit here and wait lmao

For the Night Has Been Unkind - CoolJellyBean25Ed is taken prisoner by drachma. OKAY SO THIS ONE is very off-putting and I would recommend you to be EXTREMELY wary of the tags. Leaving that aside I LOVE. THIS FIC. it’s incredible, it’s reached out to my cold dead heart, revived it and slaughtered it once more. I can hardly wait to know what happens in the next few chapters and I can only imagine when (if ever) my children will ever be fine again BUT!! it’s still an amazing, captivating read that will leave you incredibly anxious forever. it’s great.

A Different Way Home - theJovianMuteRoy is a prostitute and Ed is his customer. This. I’m in love. I have way too many love affairs with fic but this one’s got such a refreshing twist that I can’t help but feel my heart pounding in my chest when i think about it. Go read it! It’s fluffy and sad and roy’s got bad eyesight in this one (ask me why i care, i couldn’t answer you). The relationship he and ed start to develop is sweet enough to rot my teeth. Please read it and tell me what you think!

The Codeine Scene - XyriathRoy is an undercover cop and Ed is a drug addicted prostitute. THE PREMISE. THE LENGTH. everything about this calls to me like a siren song, but i haven’t had the time to finish it. Read it if you can, xyriath is a wonderful writer.

I don’t ship Drarry but with that being said, I will accept no other Drarry prompt than them stubbornly competing to outdo the other for the sheer drama.

It starts off when they’re still enemies in the Goblet of Fire. Draco makes a taunt about who Harry’s going to ask to the Yule Ball and how they must be from the worst of the worst lot and Harry rolls his eyes and says, “Well, fitting you say that, Malfoy, because I was going to ask you.” A perfect zing, Harry. 10/10.

But now the ball’s in Draco’s court and obviously he’s not going to pass up on the chance to humiliate the scarhead so he takes the most logical route of humiliation and calls out his bluff: “Fine, Potter, I reckon we’re going.”

But do you think Harry James Potter is just going to back down? That stubborn teenager is going to stare Draco down and say, “Reckon we are.”

Ron’s confused and Hermione’s confused and literally the entire castle is confused but Harry’s satisfied because he called out a bluffer’s counterbluff with a bluff of his own. And they just keep it up.

“I suppose you don’t even know how to dance, Potter?”

The furious teenager who spent years having to watch soapbox dramas with Mrs. Figg just glares at him in his stupid dress robes. “I know some things.”

“Prove it.”

“Fine.”

It’s like that for days until Draco makes the ultimate power move by inviting Harry to the Malfoy’s Annual New Years Eve Ball, taking out a Daily Prophet ad no less, because oh, oh, he’s got Potter now. He’ll never accept and he’ll be humiliated in front of the entire wizarding world. And do you think Harry’s just going to go down without a fight? God, no, he’s going to win whatever the hell this is because he’s Harry Potter, Draco better be worried, oh boy.

They’re still going at it six months later.

“Err—Malfoy?” Crabbe says. “Potter just sent you a dozen roses?”

“That son of a bitch! Send a box of chocolates. That’ll show him.”

Since I’ve been traipsing around a different continent for the past three months, I haven’t even seen the rest of the season and the finale… but let me tell you what happens anyway after last night’s Apparent Clusterfuck:

As Dean Winchester stands next to his prone angel, morbidly fascinated by the ash wings burned into the ground around his feet, he feels completely and utterly numb. He’s only had the presence of mind not to step on them, an easy thing given the fact that they’re so bare of feathers.

Carefully, and still without thinking, the hunter lowers himself to his knees, brow furrowed and lip trembling as he attempts to process what is clearly right before him.

Castiel is dead.

Still, Dean can’t help extending a shaking hand. His fingers gently trace the curve of Cas’s cheekbone in a way he never would have allowed himself if the other was still breathing, and despite the fact that his mouth feels like sandpaper and he can feel Castiel’s skin turning cold he asks the question anyway:

“…C-Cas?”

Dean can feel Sam staring holes through his back, but that’s the extent of any response to his query.

“Cas, wake up.”

His voice is a broken croak, but Dean keeps speaking anyway, turning bolder and more desperate with every second that reality sinks in.

“Cas? Castiel, wake up. Wake up, Cas! Cas!”

He’s pawing at his angel now, vision blurring until he has to blink to clear it. He all but throws himself across Castiel’s torso to uselessly slap at his cheeks in an attempt to rouse him.

“You stupid son of a bitch, wake up! Wake up, Castiel! Don’t you dare leave me, don’t…”

Castiel is still motionless when Dean collapses against him. “Don’t go,” the hunter whispers pitifully into his angel’s neck. He squeezes his eyes shut and swallows a sob. “Please. I… Cas, I…” His heart is in his throat as he turns his head to press a light kiss behind the other’s ear, moving to put his lips against Castiel’s own for the first and last time. “…I love you, you dumb angel,” he murmurs. “So you gotta wake up. Cas. Cas, I love you, so you hafta…”

When nothing happens, Dean curls himself over his angel and cries.

Sam joins him after a time, crouching to put a hand to his shoulder and blinking back tears himself. Soon, though, they have to go. “Dean. Dean, we have to get out of here.”

“Sammy, I–”

“I know. It’ll be okay.”

But when they both turn away from Cas for the first time, God isn’t who they’re expecting to find. In all honesty, they’re not expecting to find anyone… and yet, there he is: Chuck, dressed in a robe and stained pj pants.

“You love my son?” Is all he asks, piercing gaze boring into Dean. Dean takes a step back as if to protect Castiel’s form from his own father, and that apparently is good enough. Chuck nods sagely. “I don’t play favourites, you know,” he says. “I did that once with Lucifer and it didn’t end well… but Castiel is, different. He’s everything I didn’t know I wanted angels to be. He makes mistakes. He learns. And yet every time I bring him back, he ends up risking his life for you.”

Dean holds his breath. Chuck sighs. “I love my son, I would give him the world if I could.” There’s a beat, and Chuck tilts his head to the side. “But we’ve both seen what happens when he has unlimited power. Besides, at the end of the day… I think he really just wants you.”

And then God is gone.

Dean is confused for only a moment before there’s a gasping breath from behind him and a hacking cough, Castiel sitting upright and flushed and so very alive that Dean can do nothing but throw himself to the ground. He tackles Cas in a kiss before the other has time to say a word, pressing him to the floor and putting everything he is into the contact.

When he pulls away, Cas is bright red and smiling with the approximate wattage of the sun. “Dean,” he murmurs, awed. “I’m… I mean, I…”

Dean presses a finger to the other’s plump lips. “I love you,” he says simply.

And Castiel moves to kiss him again.

Cases: one of them gets hurt on the case and the other has a bitch-fit from it and then love confessions happen

Sam: SHIPS IT LIKE 1000% and figures out they love each other before they even figure it out themselves. is totes okay with Dean being bi even though Dean is under the impression that Sam will hate him for it.

Charlie: Dean’s bestie. hella nerdy and cute and talks Dean through all of his bullshit and lets him know that it’s okay to be into guys.

Benny: always says ‘brother’ and is Dean’s bestie. he and Dean used to do it back in the day, but they’re totes just friends now.

Kevin: doesn’t ever know what’s going on and doesn’t give two shits about anything.

John and Mary: John is a shitty dad and gives Dean shit for being bi. makes shit awkward for Dean but Cas handles it like a pro. he eventually comes around and is okay with Dean being with Cas. sometimes. not always. Mary is the best mom ever and loves Cas like her own and cooks them a lot of food.

Anna: Cas’ older sister that loves him and listens to all of his bitching about his problems with Dean. Anna is just great in fics, okay?

Gabriel: Cas’ older bro that loves candy and takes Cas to strip clubs all the time.

Michael: Cas’ oldest sibling who ruins shit for Cas all the time. OR. he’s the big bro that took care of Cas while they were growing up and is the best.

Cas’ Parents: this is always weird, uncharted territory in fic. like, sometimes Amelia Novak is his mom and Jimmy is his dad? sometimes, Naomi is is mom? idefk. but they’re always HUGE assholes or dead. sad, i know.

Dean’s sexuality: Dean is either 100% confident in his bisexuality or is in so much denial that he overcompensates by fucking a lot of women.

Wings: Dean fucking loves them and wants to touch them 24/7. Cas gets off on it. like, always.

Freckles: Dean has like a million of them

Hair: “styled within an inch of its life”, “sex hair”, “sleep mussed”, and “rumpled” are all different ways that Cas’ hair is described. it’s perfect.

Eyes: the greenest green that ever did green and the bluest blue that ever did blue. they get lost in each other’s all the time. it’s perfect.

Trenchcoat: Cas is always wearing the damn thing. no matter what.

Cas’ Voice: deeper than anything ever and it gives Dean instant boners.

“Hello, Dean”: NO MATTER WHAT WORLD WE ARE IN, NO MATTER HOW AU THE AU IS, IT’S ALWAYS “Hello, Dean”. ALWAYS.

Conflict: someone freaks out about some kind of miscommunication and it all goes to shit for, like, a chapter or two.

Resolution: each of their friends kick their asses for being so stupid because of the miscommunication and then they finally realize that they done fucked up and it all is fixed and everything is happy. unless, for some reason, OP is hell-bent on making shit sad, then they stay broken up forever and ever.

Sexy-Times: this topic inspires a shit ton of conflict within the fandom. “WHO BOTTOMS?!?” is the biggest question. the fact is that it doesn’t really matter because the sex ranges from “awkward first times” to “holy shit that is the greatest thing ever”. they literally do it everywhere at anytime and they’re both insatiable.

Conclusion: i can never get enough of this perfect shit
