Everyone is talking about the Vest but no one is talking about Natasha’s hair.

Nat is a natural redhead. But when they put their little family together, they couldn’t possible have a redhead and a blonde haired daughter. So they thought it best to die Nat’s hair blonde. And over the years it grew out (red roots) and Nat died it blue to remind herself it all wasn’t real. And as she aged, her hair is the iconic red we see in majority of her movies. Not a single strand left with blue. It’s for her, it’s her real hair, this is her real self.

And then in BW, we see at the end she dyes her hair blonde and cuts it short. Just like how they probably did her hair when she was younger, when they established their family.

And in Endgame we see it grown out over the past 5 years, but instead of dying the blonde away, she keeps it. She keeps it as a remembrance to her sister, the reason she ever had to dye her hair blonde to begin with. She doesn’t cover it up with blue or matches her roots, she keeps the blonde.

And so when she dies on Vormir, with her hair braided back going from her natural red to her blonde tips, she still has that remembrance to her past, to her family, to her little sister she always protected and fought for. The one she pulled a gun on Russian soldiers, the one she took down the Red Room for, the one she patched up when was hurt, the one she cried about when she dusted, the one she died for so she could live.

Natasha kept the blonde to remember Yelena because she was part of the ones Thanos dusted. She kept the blonde to remind herself every time she looked in the mirror what she was fighting to get back. Her little sister.

This scene unhinges me every time I see it.

Context: Before this scene, the last time Anne Lister saw Ann Walker, Walker rejected Lister again and called her unnatural. But of course the moment Ann Walker is in trouble, Lister comes to help. – Look at her face in the last panel. Ann Walker has put her through hell and she still looks at her like that.

I never understood before when people said a look could be “soft” what that meant.. Suranne Jones has now shown me what that looks like.

MacLaren: Oh, come on. Marcy was happy to comply.

Philip: So I’m just supposed to do everything Marcy does? What if she jumps off a cliff?

MacLaren: If Marcy jumped off a cliff, she would have done her due diligence regarding the height of the cliff, the depth of the water, and the angle of entry. So, by all means, if you see Marcy jump off a cliff, jump off of the cliff.

Philip: You go jump off a cliff.

MacLaren: Gladly. Provided Marcy did it first.
