I kept thinking I was still asleep

"Shes just walking the dog"

"Maybe she went to the store"

"She'll be back soon"

Minutes turn to hours

Hours turn to days

Days turn to weeks

You've been gone for so long

Please let me wake up next to you again

A person stands on dunes of ash. The winds blow at gale force, wishing the person to not stand on the dunes.

The person is also made of ash. They look down at their hands as their body gently blows off. Unable to make any meaningful change to stop the march of nothingness.

They cry out, but no one hears them. No one cares for the person of ash standing in the dunes.

Why would they care about someone that doesnt exist?

just a pro tip, just, you know, fyi: most of the writing advice you've taken as gospel for most of your life is either A) meant only in the context of formal academic writing or B) absolute horseshit. want to learn how to write good? read good books and emulate your favorite authors until you find a voice that works for you

If I were author of a popular book with a huge fandom, I'd make a secret AO3 account and write fanfiction for my own story. Idk why but in my opinion that's the funniest fucking thing you can do as a well-known author.

Imagine telling your fans you have a fanfiction account but not telling them how it's named so they start making theories. Imagine not telling anyone and people in reviews will tell you your writing style reminds them of the original author. Or imagine being told that you write your own OCs out of character. That concept is so funny to me, I'm-
