Gotta catch em all
I think one of One Piece's biggest flaws in regards to its political commentary, is that while it doesn't shy away from criticism regarding the ruling class and elite, Oda is still too cowardly to acknowledge that technically the Marines "the enforcers" are just as Evil.
Like over and over we are told "There is good marines!" and "Marines just want to save people!" while completely ignoring the fact that there is actually a huge number of Marines who are explicitly complicit in stuff like this...
This isn't an isolated case. Over and over we are shown that marines are part of these crimes. God Valley, Lulusia, Ohara, (soon possibly Brook's home island depending on how his flashback ends).
At some point you have to acknowledge that these aren't just a couple of bad apples. There are literally thousands of marines involved in this shit. And I might have only cherry picked some extreme cases, but throughout the series we received dozens of examples of how the Marines behaviour negatively affects people around the world.
Oda is straight up too cowardly to have the Revolutionaries , the most anti World Government organization in the series, call the Marines out on their involvement in World Government attrocities.
THE BOYS 5.08 Blood and Bone
The Boys literally spend 5 seasons explaining to the viewer that Homelander was created and raised in a lab as a product with the end result being that he became a severely mentally ill, overpowered manchild with no identity outside his hero persona. He is nothing without his powers, so naturally, he turned into a sniveling baby begging for his life the moment he lost them.
Meanwhile Butcher spend the last decade stewing in his hatred for Homelander and now that the man is dead he is also left with little to nothing. Ryan doesn't want to start over with him. Terror is dead. Supes are still around but the Boys achieved their goal of taking down Homelander and will soon go their seperate ways. Ironically enough he is in a predicament not too different from that of his archenemy. So he says fuck it and takes the virus to Vought.(He has been talking about killing all supes since the start of the series anyways)Hughie has to stop him.
I do think that the episode would be better if it was longer. It was undeniably cramped but overall both characters got their fitting ends. It's surreal to watch people complain about how OOC Homelander and Butcher were before their deaths bc if anything the both of them were the most consistent characters this whole time, especially Homelander.
They brought back soldier boy to set him up for a spin off and then put him inside the box, instead of making him relevant for the final, I hope that shit flops immensely.
This is your annual reminder to boycott the Eurovision btw
okay judgemental free zone here because I’m genuinely curious: how much of supernatural have y'all ACTUALLY watched
I wish Finn was a little more prominent in the later seasons of Peaky blinders bc out of all of the Shelbys he is the one with the least screen time and character depth. You could remove his entire character from the story and almost nothing would change.
It's a shame bc u could easily write on how him being the youngest often makes him the brother left behind. John ,Tommy and Arthur being of similar age makes them close. They went to France together, an unique experience shared by only them and their squadron (Who is mostly dead or dies early within the series)
When the Peaky Blinders rise to fame and power you can see everyone move on to their nice big houses or villas. Only Finn is seemingly left behind in Birmingham.
You can tell that he is eager to be part of the gang growing up. But we only get glimpses of him.
It's really a shame his character has barely been used after he grew up. Instead the writers randomly introduce Tommy's bastard son who just takes the Peaky blinders over once Tommy leaves.
Face study
I'm watching Peaky Blinders rn and I really love hearing people talk about the Tommy before the war bc it really hammers in how the man everyone knew died in France and something akin to a monster returned.
Milky Way Over Isla de Pascua
Kagome collects demon friends like Pokémon
Way too many people write Vader off as someone who believes himself to be below the Emperor in terms of raw power and make it part of the reason as to why he doesn't attempt to kill Palpatine before RotJ.
Like sorry to say, but Vader could most definitely kill Palpatine whenever he wanted to. That shriveled old plum doesn't stand a chance. He doesn't kill him because his connection to Sidious is just about the only thing that he has left. Sidious knows this and uses that fact to his advantage.
Anakin betrayed and killed everyone he loved and knew. Padme, Obi Wan, Ahsoka, the Jedi, the Republic as a whole. All of them are gone. If he were to kill Palpatine what would he be left with? He has no interest in becoming the next Emperor or inheriting the Empire. He'd be left with nothing.
The reason why he held on to the dark side for so long is not because he feared the Emperor's power but rather because to kill him, would mean to admit to himself that everything he did so far was pointless and now he is left with absolutely nothing.
That CSM ending sure was... something
