This post serves as an introduction to my blog, as well as an adaptive list of resources from a prepper/ intel perspective. Most are US based, but I will specify the region for each link. I do have a few custom tags, and will use them from time to time. My asks are open, but please remember this blog is simply based off my opinions and worldview and doesn’t stand for reliable advice or assumptions.

[US] [Economic] CNN’s ‘Fear and Greed’ Index - Possibly slightly more reliable than the Pizza Meter, yet another general index for the rich people graph. Take with a grain of salt, but personally, I find it funny to look at.
Since the holiday toy drive post is circulating again, I figured this would also be helpful! Food insecurity is such a massive problem in America, in general, and if you have the means to help feed others, I think you should take that opportunity. Here are some other tips:
1. If you’re planning on donating items from your own pantry, please check the expiration dates on the packaging. Think of your donations as gifts to bestow, not castoffs to be rid of. It’s awful to think of people feeling like they got scraps someone else just didn’t want. Everyone deserves dignity with their meals.
2. If you’d rather give money to a food bank, that’s also great since they buy food in bulk and know what items are most wanted/needed!
3. Not everyone has access to appliances like stoves or microwaves or hot plates so if you can donate items that don’t need to be heated up, that would also be greatly appreciated!
Fresh greens! I grew up on almost exclusively food bank food from the late 2000s to the mid 2010s. I had medical problems that led to several doctor visits because I didn't have access to fresh vegetables that weren't onion, potatos, or cabbage. Over half of what we had was just bread and a large portion of the canned food was expired (thankfully that doesn't fly in food banks anymore)
Fresh greens are so so so important and if it isn't at a food bank some kids just won't get it at all.
i grew up using food banks, and here are some tips that go with my personal experience!
note: some items are special essentials, in which they are not easy to obtain in large amounts. if you donate and have means to regularly, out of your own pocket, some of these points are worth remembering.
- perishables (milk, eggs, etc.) are sometimes turned away because they don’t last long even in the hands of the donor, especially if they don’t have proper way to store them, at least in my region (deep south US) as the post states above boxed milk is IMMENSELY useful, but it also comes in powdered bags!
- mac and cheese doesn’t inherently NEED milk or butter, but they do make the food much more palatable. in the same topic as salt and pepper as luxuries, oddly i find MSG (such as the brand Accent) to make those missing ingredients feel a lot less missed. this is personally something i used as an adult without kids with tastes to tailor to.
- as an alternative to hamburger helper, diced potatoes go a long way to make food better. to address protein needs, absolutely boosting the point about canned meats such as tuna. packaged meats like room temp stable sausage, chicken or beef are good too.
- that being said besides can openers, other simple everyday tools we take for granted like scissors, saran wrap, and foil are things that become immensely useful in lots of ways. of you can add them into your donations, they help. a lot.
- wrt coffee, instant coffee is more easily accessible. in places like rehab, coffee is basically liquid gold. so a lot people i have met who go from jail/prison to homeless or shelters, that coffee is really important even if it’s just a replacement to help avoid relapse.
- if you’re going out and buying things specifically for donation, find commissary lists for prisons. these items are chosen for their versatility and stability. as an alternative to bread, tortillas last longer and are more dense.
- toilet paper!!! this goes in line with feminine hygiene. douches are also an important product if you don’t have the means to reliably keep it up.
- hot pots/ electric kettles/ slow cookers! this goes with the point about hot plates. anything that can heat water is useful in many ways. these are a lot harder to obtain in bulk, but could change someone’s life for the time.
“Just because you legally possess a gun in the sanctity of your locked home doesn't mean that we're not going to walk into that home and check to see if you're being responsible" - Kamala Harris
first of all, i hate that upon searching the source of this, top hits were all fox news. so it makes it difficult to seek the initial context of this quote.
news clip (expect this to be edited because i want to see what she said before and after this)
secondly, i want to reiterate kamala is a prosecutor. a cop. status quo.
basically this type of media being shared around is with the intended purpose of swaying the indecisive vote. both sides pander to this. personally, and within the context of my own non-credible opinion, anyone who takes this into legitimate consideration when casting their vote is still in the “both sides are just as bad” camp.
which. don’t get it twisted, yes. there’s been little reason to back a presidential candidate with my whole chest since before i was born. and i spent formative years with an avid bush jr hater. HOWEVER.
there’s no reason to believe those values have changed within her. statements like this are incredibly dangerous (tonya massey, anyone?)
I fully back the original, less violently radicalized statement of “don’t tread on me.” it’s within our rights to own firearms and defend ourselves. it should NEVER be legal or acceptable to come into someone’s HOME and inspect and deduct unlawfulness without due process. warrants used to be believeable, enforced standards backed by precedent.
but what helps me digest this clip of information is that the powers that be don’t want to open that can of worms. or else the cases where people start shooting the cops instead will become front and center, and the media will be inherently less able to be controlled by government.
they’re not stupid, and concessions, if only to remain in power will be made. it’s the only power to the people we have left.
Epidemiologist Katelyn Jetelina says public-health agencies are making familiar mistakes that blur the true picture of a disturbing outbreak
“Johns Hopkins did this really great risk assessment of the different levels of risk and when our concerns should really go up. Basically, the next level is whether we start seeing it in pigs. After that, it’s small human clusters, and then the alarm-five scenario is when we see sustained human-to-human transmission.” - Dr. Katelyn Jetelina as interviewed
I'm just having a lazy sunday thinking about all of the ways that the earth looks after us for free and yet we've bastardized it all with capitalism.
There is literally nothing stopping anyone from doing most things for literally zero cost.
For the entirety of human existence we've had the knowledge and skills to be entirely self sufficient. Individuals or groups could just leave on long trips and be fine. But now we've been stripped of every capability that we genuinely believe most things are too difficult to make or grow.
We've been pushed into pens far too small for our nature and we wonder why we're sick physically, mentally and socially.
“With 142,013 Hectares burned in 2024 to date, we have already beaten annual “burned area” numbers for 2008, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2016, 2019, 2020, and 2022. And it’s only the middle of May. 2024 is shaping up to be TERRIFYING for Canada.” - via u/rekabis on r/collapse 5/15/24
