A variant cover I did for DC Comics’ “Harley Quinn The Animated Series Legion of Bats” issue 1, which comes out October 19, 2022! I had so much creating this one since I adore Harley and Ivy (they’re my favorite DC couple). And I wanted to place them into a cute dating scenario that could include little nods to various other infamous Batman characters, and what better place to do so than a Gotham City arcade?

I’ve included the original thumbnail sketch along with the final inks to share some of the processes that go behind the final colored piece. I hope ya’ll enjoy it! You can read more about the upcoming issue below:

It’s been a long time since I posted anything here. A few years ago I decided to take a hiatus from full-time illustration work to focus on a full-time design job and the relationship with my now-wife. That being said, we recently moved, bought a house, and are now settled, which allows me to finally return to a career of full-time illustration and comic work! I’m not sure I’d be able to do this without the love and support of my wife, who has been there every step of the way and continues to be my largest cheerleader.

That was about 3 months ago now, and since then I’ve made a zine, done a few shorts, am working with DC, and attended my first Comic Con since the pandemic started; Emerald City Comic Con (ECCC) in Seattle, WA. The piece I chose to share here is one that I made for the Monsters & Dames annual book at ECCC. By attending the show I was able to reconnect with old friends and meet awesome new creatives, which has got me more excited than ever to be a part of the community and start adding my own voice and style to the mix. 

I thank you all for following me and supporting me on this journey. I've been working in the dark, off the grid, with some secretive projects as of late that I can't speak to or show examples of yet, so I haven't posted anything in a while. However, I was able to do this quick poster design between projects, which was super fun.  Natalia Lafourcade is a hispanic singer/songwriter who's most recent album is celebrating the breathe of Latin music and the various traditions throughout history, so in order to mirror this sentiment I decided to be a bit more abstract and loose with my design. The shapes and colors are to help represent the energy of the sounds typically heard in Latin music, while the linework is kept minimally on top, depicting literal elements of the culture, such as salsa, mariachi and nature. Poster design I made for Live Nation for the Riverside Municipal Auditorium's annual "May The 4th Fest" in Los Angeles. I wanted to embrace the Daft Punk essence of a dance party where a man in a mask (Vader) is in control of the dance floor, much like how he wants control of the Galaxy. I wanted to make the colors very vibrant and fun, mixing EDM with space. This will be sold as a poster at the event and used for their VIP badges. Here is a showcase of our colored branding for @cladedesign. There is a general palette and logo mark, but the diversity of color combinations is expansive and fun, allowing us to be more expressive moving forward. In order to prepare for an upcoming project and to keep myself drawing while I work on web heavy projects I thought it would be nice to draw characters from a property I love; Overwatch. Since D.Va is my favorite character and my main, I thought I'd start there. While I chose to show the pink hair as my main image here, I also have the traditional brown attached as well as a sketch. I hope to do several over the following weeks.
