Y'know. None of this is really that complex. Every systemic issue we have boils down to a failure to acknowledge the basic humanity of the people around us. We're human, so we get hungry, and that means we should have food. We're human, and we're vulnerable to the elements and to illness, and that means we should have homes and health care. We're human, and we get lonely, and that means we should have companionship and community. This is basic, non-negotiable shit. We are socialized to believe that it should cost money and that it should be earned or struggled for. But it actually costs us nothing but the genuine will to make it happen. Nothing but empathy for the folks navigating this strange life alongside us. How elementary.
