Everyone talks about Andrew telling Bee "Everyone knows now, Bee"—and with good reason, that shit is devastating. But I feel like not enough people are talking about "Who fears the monster that knows the taste of the whip?"
Like, that is so telling of Andrew's character. Andrew, who was abandoned at birth by the one person supposed to love him unconditionally, who was taught from the age of seven that love is inherently transactional, who is literally canonically referred to as a monster by the people closest to him. Who feels like the only true value he holds for the people he loves most is his theoretical ability to act as some sort of violent guard dog capable of protecting them from not only their abusers but also the literal mafia/yakuza.
So yeah, of course Andrew is terrified for them to realize that he is quite literally just some guy with his own fucked up past and not the impervious monster they project onto him. Because if he can't be what they think he is, what they keep telling him he is and asking him to be, what use is he to them at all? And if he can't be useful, what's to keep them from leaving?
Nora, when I catch you indeed.
