I have two altered endings for the first chapter of the medieval fic. Need some guidance on how I want to go about this!
Option 1: (A continuance from the original)
“I approve of your conditions.”
“Excellent. Now, if you excuse me, I have garbage to throw out!” Nicole looked over her shoulder, and glared at James Hardy. He had the decency to point his eyes towards the ground. Then she heard it, that infurious giggle.
Nicole’s head snapped back at the sound, landing on the girl, who undoubtedly would turn her world upside down. She was breathtaking in her green dress that matched her eyes, with light brown hair cascading down around shoulders and chest. The small silver crown resting upon her head gave her a halo-like glow. Nicole bowed to the royal family, ignoring the scoff came from the other princess dressed in a dark blue dress and workman boots. Interesting choice, she thought.
Nicole turned away and headed towards James, her face hardening at the sight of him.
“One last thing, Lady Haught.”
Nicole spun back around, realizing the Queen had finally spoken.. “Yes, your Majesty?”
“Your father has graciously agreed to have one of your best knights appointed to my daughter, Wynonna’s personal guard. You, however, are to be my Waverly’s,” she gestured towards the girl in the green dress. “Personal guard while they stay here.”
“Excuse me.” Nicole stammered as she heard Waverly say, “Wait, what?”
Turn her world upside down, indeed.
Option 2: (completely changes the ending)
“Nicole.” Nicholas called out. He looked in her direction then glanced back over the balcony. “Xavier Dolls. How is his training? Is he good?”
“Far better than anyone I have had the pleasure of working with. He had advanced further ahead than those who had been here for two months.” Nicole’s thoughts went to the pathetic excuse of man, Prince James Hardy. She loathed having to train him but his family was spending top dollar to be trained by the best and since her father was gone and Sir Wainwright was working with the other trainee’s, she was the only one left. Oh, how the world could be so cruel to her.
She watched her father and noticed how he continued to look down at the training grounds. Most of the trainee’s had dispersed for the evening. Nicole’s curiosity finally got the better of her as she walked over the railing. Down below, Xavier Dolls was helping unload the carriage her father rode in on and was aimlessly flirting with a raven-haired woman wearing a long navy blue dress.
“You never mentioned you were traveling with someone.”
“I think Xavier will make a fine guard for her.”
Nicole noted her fathers deflection. She continued to watch the two bystanders interact and nodded in agreement. As Xavier walked alongside the woman, she heard her call out. “Waverly!! You mustn’t stay there unless that is your new chamber for the time being!” Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. She glanced at her father but he gave no indication of what was happening.
Just as she was about to ask, a second woman, in the exact replica dress as the first woman but in emerald green, stepped out of the carriage. Nicole rested her on the railing and leaned further over the balcony, trying her best to get a better look. Her breath caught in her throat when the woman tilted her up towards them. She was the most beautiful woman Nicole had ever seen. She leaned a little further and that’s when she noticed it, a small silver crown atop the woman’s head. Was the other woman wearing one as well, she thought.
“That is Princess Waverly Earp.” Nicholas explained. “King Ward’s youngest daughter.” Nicole quietly said Waverly’s name, enjoying how it sounded. A beautiful name for a beautiful woman, she mused. She had the urge to rush down and introduce herself. To help Waverly with her belongings and show her around the castle and the neighboring village. Nicole had this feeling that Waverly could turn her whole world upside down and she was honestly okay with the prospect.
“I have agreed to make you her personal guard.”
Everything came to a screeching halt as Nicole bolted upright and stared at her father with disbelief.
“You did what?” Nicole slowly turned her back towards Waverly. The smile she had disappeared and her face hardened.
Turn her world upside down, indeed.
