it's my birthday today! posting starry august borzoi dog to celebrate it 💖✨️

This is kinda ominous ngl
Gotta compliment him on his reflexes. No hesitation. Just described exactly what he was seeing, regardless of what it was.
[VD: A weatherman is giving a report and pointing to a map, saying "feel like temperatures really take a tumble too, because after the storm-" before he is interrupted by the screen going black and then displaying a picture of some baby spinach. He says, "um," then immediately points to the screen and confidently announces, "this is baby spinach." /End VD]
I feel like this downplays how good his (and all TV meterologists') reflexes actually are.
That man is standing in front of a green wall. Those images are not actually appearing next to him. He sees them on a monitor next to his teleprompter, in broadcast perspective which is opposite of how he actually is standing.
I've done the weathercast simulator at my local science museum. It's fucking hard. This isn't just his skill to react to a new thing popping up next to him, it's his skill to react to an unexpected thing fifteen feet away from him and gesture to a blank wall as if that was totally normal.
most braindead fanbase on planet earth lmao
So the UK will reroute a fucking Internet cable for a fake grave for a fake elf because a bunch of brain dead nerds through a pissy fit, and meanwhile real actual natives in the US are getting arrested for trying to keep oil sand pipelines from going through their actual graves, holy sites and unceded territory. Burn it all down.
oh it's worse, it's not an internet cable, it's a cable for distributing cleanly generated solar/wind electricity
this grave has a real life physical location and YOU 🫵 can destroy it
they routed the project and such that it's close to an actual Bronze Age burial site btw. so they're possibly disturbing REAL graves in order to not "disturb" a fictional character's "grave"
They aren't going near real graves:
Technicalities but still stupid they care more for fiction than reality

Jokes aside, this recall was issued for WA/OR/ID and the affected brands are Royale Natural and TOP VALU. More info in linked article.
actually i am gonna give you guys a genuine answer to that. not the anon because they obviously don't actually care, but the rest of the new followers i seem to have picked up off that youth lib post.
why do i give a shit about social media restrictions? well, i went to the library three months ago with my two teenage brothers to sign them up for new library cards (they just moved) and i was told that under 18s can't have a library card, even a restricted kids-books-only card, without a parent there in person to give consent.
that's fucked for abused kids for sure but that's also fucked for kids whose single mum works two jobs and can't get to the library while its open. and there is NO good reason for it except to appease parents who want to control what their kids can read.
people coming onto my posts telling me 'kids should just do X' have not actually looked into the possibility of doing what they are suggesting. kids now cannot do what you did when you were a teenager even a decade ago. abused kids, disabled kids or kids from low income families ESPECIALLY cannot do those things. they are running out of places to go.
interviews and studies with teenagers repeatedly prove that they WANT to hang out with their friends in real life, and it is getting harder and harder to do it. the internet is one of the only places they can all spend time together, unsupervised, without spending money or getting hassled or moved on by adults.
social media bans won't fix that. they won't even keep kids off social media. they're just going to make life harder for everyone, increase the amount of tracking and monitoring EVERYONE is subject to, and force kids to lie about what they're doing to any adults that actually DO give a shit about them.
internet friends are kinda like illegally downloaded friends. you don’t get the physical copy but you still get all the great content
#i’d illegally download you all
reblog if you’d illegally download your followers
The anonymous button is not for hate messages and death threats! It’s for confessing your love and asking stupid questions!
“be gay do crime” was supposed to be about doing sodomy not doing hate crimes

My personal goal is to try and make fanfic binding as accessible to everyone as possible, so here are some resources on how to make a fanfic hardcover for under $25.
This is a barebones bind for the broke college students and such. Happy to field questions, too!
Here's a proposed budget breakdown:
Loosely organized thoughts:
Fanfic bookbinders often share typesets amongst each other. Never pay for a typeset for a fanfic.
You'll hear a lot about grain direction for your printer paper, but as a newbie on a budget without your own printer, settle for some nice 92 bright paper. If you like the hobby, splurge after but expect to pay at least 2-3x more for short grain paper.
Printing is a pain because some copy shops won't let you print intellectual property smut, and it's very expensive. You are better off bartering instead or looking for a free printer on Buy Nothing.
You know the thick paper wrapping that comes with online orders? It's a good weight for endpapers if you need to scrounge. Paper grocery bags or gift bags (birthday presents) might work, too.
Ask your local library to give you covers from books they are throwing out. Ask for outdated textbooks (those covers are built like tanks) or three-ring binders that are too busted to be binders anymore.
Obtain a used book that was mass produced (so your destruction of it does not impede anyone's access) and maybe even become a little vindictive with it.
If you can afford it, I recommend the Olfa SVR knife (~$10)
If you can afford it, upgrade your ruler to a t-square.
I really hope this resource is helpful! I want to stress how possible this is and encourage people to cherish what they love through art.
If you are interested in fanfic binding and have a little more disposable income, I have an affordable Fan Fiction Bookbinding Starter Pack that I carry on my site. I pack them myself and drop them 1x/month on the 15th.
I also HIGHLY recommend the YouTube channel DAS bookbinding just because he has lots of thorough tutorials for lots of types of binding, and there even are some possibly simpler ones! For example, if you don't trust yourself with needle and thread, you could do a hardcover version of a paperback! It's possible!
This video demonstrates a #Double-Fan or #Lumbeck binding with a #Bradel case. These videos are only possible thanks to the support of Patreo
(Another intended purpose is to save beloved paperbacks, and it's how I intend to use it to begin with - I've started with a not-beloved one to see how I do - but as you can see in the video, he does it with printed out sheets.)
And if I remember correctly, Annesi Bookbinding on YouTube is another professional bookbinder who actually does things with recycled materials sometimes.
Research into how violence occurs shows that disapproval from the people around you can help reduce it.
For the TLDR crowd:
“The vast majority of men are only willing to engage in public violence if they feel like the people around them will approve of — and reward them for — that violence.
ICE Watch works because it surrounds men seeking approval with people loudly expressing their *disapproval.* And the noise has the added benefit of drawing large crowds of bystanders who can quickly outnumber the ICE agents, who then have to decide if they want to escalate a situation or perhaps abandon their activity altogether.
In Minneapolis, we’re already seeing the success of ICE Watch. There are countless videos from ICE Watch observers that show agents leaving without detaining anyone after they encounter resistance. There are currently about 3,000 ICE agents in Minnesota, but the Department of Homeland Security claims they have only arrested 2,400 people — less than one person per agent.
ICE Watch organizers have also observed that it takes many more agents to make a single arrest when they are around. In other cities, ICE traveled in groups of two or three, but in Minneapolis, we primarily see groups of 6 to 12 agents. The Department of Homeland Security has pulled agents from other cities to ramp up efforts in Minnesota, which guarantees there will be fewer deportations from the places they left. Plus, ICE’s fixation on breaking up ICE Watch groups and detaining observers — often white citizens — has interrupted its original mission.
The entire operation is becoming slower and more resource-intensive. There is good reason to believe that more immigrants are with their families tonight because of ICE Watch.”
[ID: an imagine describing the difference between Pop Psychology and Actual Psychology terms. There is a watermark for @igototherapy.
Pop: Trauma bonding is when you're bonding with someone over shared trauma or similar past experiences.
Actual: A trauma bond refers to a situation where someone develops strong feelings of sympathy, loyalty, dependence, and attachment towards their abuser.
Pop: Gaslighting is when someone lies to you, questions you, or disagrees over something with you over what happened.
Actual: Gaslighting is an abuse tactic that where you are manipulated to question your reality, memory, or sanity - not just a disagreement over what happened.
Pop: Being triggered means that something makes you uncomfortable or annoyed.
Actual: A trigger is something that causes a sudden increase in symptoms - like flashbacks in PTSD or compulsions in OCD. It's not just a source of general discomfort.
Pop: Intrusive thoughts are random impulses you might want to act on; e.g. wanting to something unexpected like dye your hair pink or eat cake for dinner.
Actual: Intrusive thoughts are unwanted, involuntary thoughts that go against your real values and desires. You don't want to act on them, and them coming true would be your worst nightmare. They can be very prominent and distressing in disorders like OCD and PTSD.

Hey. If people aren't aware, Microsoft admitted they know who you and where you are at all times and will give your info to the police.
They have a Global Device Identifier (GDID) Tracker that functions as a fingerprint for your PC that can surpass VPNs, proxy servers and countries. Although it can't survive a clean reinstall of Windows (it can survive updates), because Microsoft forces you to go to the internet and log in into a Microsoft account, they will be able to get to you.
Microsoft kept it secret and it was only found out when the FBI tracked a hacker thanks to the information Microsoft gave them.
You should be paying attention to this, and possibly consider moving away from Windows. If a government, especially the US government, doesn't like you for some reason, this could be seriously concerning.
This article specifically notes:
For journalism, activism, or domestic abuse situations, skip Windows and use Linux routed through Tor instead of a commercial VPN. A GDID doesn’t care which VPN you use, only that it’s still the same Windows installation.
GDID is the persistent Windows ID that helped FBI trace a Scattered Spider hacker despite VPNs. Here's how it works and how to limit it.
Other important quotes:
What has researchers uneasy is everything else the case reveals. Costin Raiu, a well-known malware researcher, asked on the Three Buddy Problem podcast how much of this exists on other platforms, and whether it is linked more permanently to hardware. Matthew Hickey, another security researcher, called Windows “surveillance software”.
Two things back that up:
There’s no consent screen. A GDID gets assigned when you sign into a Microsoft Account. Apple’s advertising identifier needs an App Tracking Transparency prompt and a visible reset; Android’s works the same way. GDID has neither, and a Windows reinstall only gets you a new number Microsoft can still get back to the same account.
Then there’s activation. Massgrave, the group behind Microsoft Activation Scripts, notes that Windows setup sends hardware info to Microsoft and gets identifiers back, the same tokens later used for Store access and licensing: “It’s impossible to prevent Windows from getting a GDID without breaking activation and UWP app[s].” Anyone who lost a license after swapping a motherboard has already met a smaller version of this.
Here's the complaint filed to the court, the primary source for the case mentioned in the article. You can find mentions of GDID on page 30 of the document or 34 of the PDF.
Thank you @just-call-me-zinnia for finding it!
Tumblr people!! I've figured out a way to delete GDID from your computer!
Removing and Blocking Global Device Identifier (GDID) – A Guide for Better Privacy in Microsoft Windows 10/11 Written by saturniandragon@tum

Please do me a favor, reblog for reach!! This went through several days of research and testing!! THANKS
You can get and use windows 11 without logging in with a microsoft account, as of five days ago. I am a local user on my computer. Don't ask me how to do it, because my computer repair guy did it when he reinstalled windows, but there are tutorials out there. Refuse to connect to internet until you're set up and can use the computer freely.
how do u know the porn you’re watching is totally consensual
that these women weren’t forced into this work
that these women are of age
that these women were treated properly on set
that these women are okay with it being released in the format it has been released(onto which website/etc)
you fucking don’t
IF YOU’RE WATCHING HIGH-PRODUCTION PORN FROM MAINSTREAM COMPANIES, YOU CAN NOW BE CERTAIN OF ALL OF THESE THINGS. The major companies require an STD test every fourteen days, and some even require WEEKLY tests. They go to great lengths to make sure the performers feel comfortable on set and their actions are consensual, before and after filming.
They go to very, VEEEEEEEERY, perhaps annoyingly great lengths to verify age. If I lose ONE of my government-issued ID’s, I’m totally fucked fr work with these people. We also have to sign a LOT of paperwork, on video, while LISTENING to someone tell us “this will be published on the internet. is that okay?” to which we answer YES. More into amateur porn? That’s okay! You can still take measures to ensure that you’re buying safe, consensual porn! By buying it DIRECTLY from female performers on websites like MyGirlFund. Then, you don’t even have to give money to one of the big porn companies, which many of us understandably have some qualms with. It goes straight to her! I realize there are problems in sex work. NONE OF THEM GET SOLVED BY CONVINCING PEOPLE TO STOP PAYING US. YOU ARE STARVING SEX WORKERS WHEN YOU DO THAT. But hey, when have radfems ever given a fuck about the women they actively harm with their misguided efforts?
