Sometimes I feel like the other bat's deaths are used as a way to more so accentuate the idea that Jason's reaction to his death was overdramatic--which it was not, thank you very much--and that part of the reason people conform to that idea is because Jason isn't a particularly palatable victim for the majority of people. (And yes, he is a victim, being a victim and a crime lord/anti-hero aren't mutually exclusive.) When people think of a victim, the image that comes to mind is someone helpless--and yes, I know that sounds derogatory but it isn't meant to sound that way, victims have gone through SO MUCH and deserve comfort and care--NOT someone who's had enough of the fact that no one's helping give him the closure that he, specifically, needs. I think Jason understands that killing won't solve everything--and I see in a lot of fics that he thinks it will, which I actually don't agree with; Jason seems to me like the sort of person who'd be aware of the fact that wounds linger, even when the problem's been dealt with, but I think killing the Joker would be a step to help him get to closure--and he has said that he doesn't want anyone else to be hurt because of the Joker. While not actually saying that in what I'm referencing, but in UTRH his speech is, "The graveyards he's filled, the friends he's crippled." Or something along those lines. He's quite literally begging Bruce to let Jason kill a mass murderer who's proven that he won't stop hurting people, that he doesn't want redemption--and at that point, i'm not even sure he could be redeemed, but that's my personal opinion. I think DC's victim-blaming and villainising of Jason Todd Agenda stems from the fact that Batman's their biggest money maker. If people have doubt in the "Righteous Dark Knight" Image that Batman's built up, then they could potentially lose money, and so blaming everything on Jason is the way to go about it, right? If Batman has no blame pushed onto him, their money-maker is safe, and Jason can just be used as a way to further storylines of other characters. Honestly, if people wanna hate Jason, they can do so. But if they're not properly informed of him, don't know the history of his character, then I don't think they should conform to the so-called "status quo" most of this fandom's set up for Jason. If they are informed, however, then they can go along hating him and i'll stick to my little dark corner giving him all the appreciation I can.
Anyway...I have no idea what i've done with this, you can make sense of it if you can, i'm not the best at explaining things anyway. Haters DNI and all that, i'd like valid opinions and points of views, i'm not here to argue, if you don't like Jason and you feel the need to express that through the comment section instead of freaking blocking me, then please at least use respectful language because it's really frustrating when people start attacking you.
