I write multiple ships from within the Dragon Age Fandom and it has been my current special interest for over a year now.

Between the Quiet and the Storm (completed) WC:113k Rated: E Summary: Ellana Lavellan was a shadow, a whisper of hope, until the sky shattered and named her Inquisitor. Now, every choice she makes leaves a scar. These stories are fragments; moments of silence between battles, where the weight of power may crush her and the cost of hope is paid in blood. Relief soared with downy wings when Ash spotted another elf among the throngs of humans. However, disappointment moulted her feathers—this particular elf was a condescending prick. If she’d known that, she likely would have chosen a different opener, and not: “So, what’s a knife ear like you doing in a place like this?”

His lip had practically curled as he scanned her Dalish robes and Dalish markings, his face bare of any vallaslin. Perhaps if she’d seen anything but the shiny back of his bald head, she would have thought twice about being so casual with him. Suffice it to say, he did not appreciate her sense of humour: his loss, but her current problem.

Fic Summary:

The night Solas told Cordelia Lavellan the truth about her vallaslin, he pushed her away. But in his rumination, he also made a choice. A different choice. He chose to stay. He chose to tell her the truth, should they emerge victorious from the war on Corypheus. He expects anger. He expects hurt. He might even expect (eventual) acceptance. But he does not expect a second chance with the woman he loves. No, he doesn't expect that at all.

Chapter Summary: Briala requests aid. Solas subsequently grapples with domesticity.

A missive delivered by one of Marquise Briala's agents, who appeared without warning through the Skyhold eluvian. Both pages are encoded via a cipher the Marquise and Sister Nightingale agreed upon following the so-called peace talks at Halamshiral.

Inquisitor Lavellan,

Forgive the haste with which I have sent this letter, but I think you'll find the matter urgent enough to warrant an unexpected visitor.

One of the minor nobles in the Dales—Lady Chelle Morveau—has hired mercenaries to harrass a clan who recently moved onto her land. More than one scout has been murdered, and hunting parties have been attacked. Intercepted correspondence has proven the lady's involvement.

Unfortunately, my people are spread thin. Thus, I've come to you for aid. I can provide you with a pair of agents: a navigator familiar with the area and a fighter skilled in setting traps on such missions. You may supplement the team however you wish, though I would recommend discretion. The entire Orlesian aristocracy knows what you look like. For both our sakes, it's best your involvement be kept quiet for the time being. My advice would be to have your arcane advisor lead your section of the party while you remain in Skyhold. He is familiar with the eluvians but would not raise as many eyebrows if anyone managed to escape and alert their employer.

I've enclosed everything we know about the mercenaries in a separate document. Any questions can be directed to the agents I've provided. Directions to where they are stationed are included in the document; they will wait until the end of the month for the arrival of your people.

Cullen caught the moment Ellana entered the hall as a ripple of excitement passed through the room. Though he couldn't yet see her, he did see the others entering with her: Bull was, as always, towering over the crowd, but he also caught sight of Cassandra ducking to the side, then Blackwall also attempting to slip out of view. At least, as out of view as one could be given the circumstances of having just helped save the world.

When Ellana stepped into view, his breath caught short. They had seen very little of each other in the hours since she had returned; Josephine immediately pulled her away to clean up. Apparently cleaning up also included dressing up.

For the first time since the Winter Palace, her dark hair was tamed. Instead of the usual plain tunic and leggings that she wore around Skyhold, tonight she was wrapped in blue silk. It seemed she even allowed for her lips to be painted, a striking red visible even from a distance. Cullen wanted nothing more than to kiss them.

This is taken from deep within the Brecilian Forest, where the Wardens are struggling to hold it together.

Alistair watched — his eyes dry from the heat of the fire and his own exhaustion, but alert nonetheless — as Haljra cut her wrist and used her mana to replenish the stamina of Sten, who sucked in a breath and offered his appreciation. She brushed a palm over the wound, immediately healing it and offering the excuse, "He wasn't able to sleep at all during the night." Maleficar, his templar training screamed and he struggled to silence the noise. "W-what about you?" his voice cracked, unable to hide his unease with her actions. "Y-You didn't sleep either?" Haljra tilted her head. Alistair knew she had a response prepared, and yet, he listened anyway, "I was able to close my eyes for a bit. Besides my mana replenishes faster than your endurance. And this is quicker than taking naps."

Dutifully Loved Ch. 19: The Brecilian Forest Pt. 1

Summary: The Wardens get new armor and find themselves spooked by the shadows.

Two days later, Haljra scratched her cheek as she watched Aedan and Alistair attempt to sneak into the Dalish camp with a male elf in tow. It was before dawn and most of the camp was still asleep, except for those three, she, and the elvhen armorer who was fussing at the clamp around her midsection. Fortunately for the lurkers, the weapon-smith's back was facing the skulkers and Haljra was not interested in alerting anyone to their presence, so they slipped into camp unnoticed. Yet, Haljra couldn't help but raise a brow to the animal carcass that each man helped to carry.

In Peace, Vigilance

Summary: Almost ten years had passed since the end of the Fifth Blight. Haljra Tabris had traveled more of Thedas than she thought possible and seen more action than some of the most experienced soldiers. And even though she lived through the last five years of her life, she couldn't fathom how she became a ranking member of the Southern Mage Rebellion.

Excerpt: Haljra fell back in her seat, shocked silent by the news. She heard Fiona calling her name, trying to reach over the emotion, but the mage ignored her pleas. Haljra was stunned and she allowed tears to pool in her eyes. Falling down her cheeks, she wept; for all she knew, her friend had perished. Fiona allowed her to cry in her office until she fell asleep. Somewhere between the candles being blown out and morning, the other woman left Haljra to her misery. As the sun warmed her lashes, Haljra realized she had been neglecting her duties as Warden-Commander and decided to return to Vigil's Keep.

Fic summary: In the relative respite of the Emprise Du Lion, Sylvia Mercar learns what it means to have survived. Fenris and Hawke show the way, as best they can- but the path she takes is hers. That does not mean they allow her to walk it alone.

The next installation of my DATV canon series: To Wound You, is live! I highly recommend reading Quantum Satis (As Much as Needed) beforehand, as much of this fic is about the aftermath of that. But also I'm not your mom do what you'd like Preview below the cut!

Fenris always struggled with his anger. It was not something he wished to harbor, at times— and yet it would return to him as surely as the seasons changed. He likes to believe that he has honed it into a fine-edged weapon to suit his needs. No more does it rule him. 

Now he wishes that it could come to him more easily, for the anger was much more welcome than fear. Anger makes his grip tighten on his sword. Makes his strikes purposeful, exacting.

Fear makes him messy. If he were angry, he would know the last beats of a Magister’s heart as it pumped blood onto his hand, rather than the pounding of his own drowning out all sound.

After accidentally shaking the DAI tag like a bag of treats and seeing so many lovely people get excited, I figured... well... maybe we should actually do this???😭

If you've ever wanted to contribute to a community Dragon Age: Inquisition zine, that being through art, writing, poetry, comics, fake codex entries, or other creative works etc, this is your chance to help shape what the project could become!

The interest check will remain open until July 20th!

This is not an application yet! No pressure, no portfolio, no "please prove yourself before joining the Inquisition." This is simply a way to gauge interest, gather ideas, and make sure we're building something the community is excited about!

Dutifully Loved Chapter 18: Prisoners of the Dalish

Summary: The Wardens negotiate the terms of their surrender.

Excerpt: Keeper Zatharian proceeded to guide the Wardens through the Dalish camp. Alistair's eyes caught sight of children playing, young adults chatting and drinking, parents caring for their kids, and large structures that looked like boats but on wheels. He also saw hunters with bows and tradesmen creating tools and weaving cloth. But there was something else he noticed, something that wasn't obvious when the group was coerced into camp. Towards the back, there appeared to be something that looked like a field hospital. There were small tents and tables, covered in tools and poultices. On the ground were mats with injured elvhes being cared for by their kin. Some of the injured were heavily maimed with bleeding, infected wounds. As they passed by, one broken man screamed out in agony when a young woman tried to tend to, what looked like, a deep bite mark in his arm.
