Since I get comments on Good morning, Lieutenant of readers who tell me they've decided that they consider my work discontinued, given that I haven't updated in at least a year, I think it would be good to write a small explanation on where I'm at and what I'm planning. It's December 2021 as I'm writing this post, so if you read this as late as 2026, assume that it's still valid.
TL;DR - Yes I'm still around writing fanfic, yes I still intend to continue GM,L one day, no I can't say when but you can expect a few more years to go by before I find enough free time. More details below!
1) I have not stopped writing for the Detroit: Become Human fandom. While I am a lot less active than before on social media, I'm still a fan, and I still love the characters. If you check my AO3, you'll see that I continue updating some of my fics, even thought my schedule is more stretched out than it used to be and can get really sporadic at times.
2) I still intend to continue GM,L one day. I have a lot of stuff planned for the second installment and I don't want to go in half-cocked, at the risk of burning myself out and stopping midway, and then truly never finishing it.
3) I have a full-time job now, which I didn't have when I was writing the 600k of GM,L's first volume. This means that I have less time and energy to indulge in fanfic, especially given that I don't get anything tangible from writing it (read: no money, which is kind of a big deal in the real world), except for when I do commissions, which I only got a demand for once. No bills get paid that way.
This job also means that I have more responsabilities. All of this puts the brakes on my productivity/creativity.
4) I have been considering the possibility of publishing my own stories one day. It used to be just some fantasy, but then I met the writeblr side of Tumblr, and since then I've given it more serious thought. Consequently, nowadays I'm divided between writing fanfic (which I still very much enjoy, especially considering that I have readers who like what I do) and writing my own content (which I also enjoy because they're my own characters, and imagine if I do publish one day! How glorious). So, less time for fanfic.
5) The way I envision my future (and I realllly hope it will unfold that way) is this: in the following years I'd like to write the "lighter" fanfics like my alternate universes for example (because they generally contain less subplots and less convoluted storytelling than GM,L), and focus on my original content. Once I get a stable job, I'd like to find work which would allow me a more easy-going rythm and more free time for hobbies, and there I'd find the time to write GM,L's second volume and my stories in general.
But all this is hypothetical, so who knows when I'll get back to GM,L. It could be later or it could be earlier than planned. At any rate, never doubt that I would 100% warn you if anything changed with the GM,L situation.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. I'm still open to asks and comments despite my less obvious online presence. Interaction with you all is always welcome, even if I may be less reactive than before. Thanks for reading, pumpkin <3
Important PSA if you have Adobe Acrobat installed on your computer - it installs Microsoft Copilot, even if you've removed it in the past
I went to right-click a file today and was met with an "Ask Copilot" prompt, despite having diligently removed every trace of the scourge from my computer any time it's ever been installed in the past. When I went and looked in the program list and indeed found "Copilot," it said it was installed today, 4/16/26.
Enraged and confused because I have Windows Updates turned off for this machine, don't install anything unless I can check what's in the patches, and haven't ran any updates since the end of March, I went rooting around in the logs and found that the culprit was... the latest update for Acrobat.
I went to their stupid support website, and their stupid chatbot confirmed it:
Honestly Acrobat is a terrible PDF reader/viewer anyway, it's just been installed on this computer since college and I hadn't previously bothered to remove it. But if you're in the same boat, or if you have previously been forced to use it for work/school, please be aware that this POS puts Copilot back on your computer without permission or notification.
Been itching to make Sir Caine happen with my own two hands. Just an idea that desperately needed to escape my head. Colored chain mail and all. What do yall think?
