Yes friendship can be that deep, it can have as much love and respect and admiration as a romantic relationship ā and still be platonic.
It just personally rubs me the wrong way because i have a friendship that lasts literally my whole life. We grew up together, even when separated by a fuckton kilometers of distance, our personalities grew together, we shaped each other that much that if you took this friendship out of the equation you would get an absolutely different person. I will always stand at her side and she will stand on mine. I admire her deeply. My existence would lose all meaning without her in it. She is my most trusted person in the whole world. I would do anything for her without hesitation. AND IT IS STILL FUCKING PLATONIC
