the thing about Tangled is that this is a story geared towards little girls (even if it's "fun for the whole family," it's a disney princess movie, it's geared towards little girls), and it says, "here is a girl who is naive and doesn't know anything about the 'Real World' or how to navigate it safely and correctly. now pay close attention: the good guys are the ones who help her grow and explore new things while still respecting her own perspective and feelings, not making her feel stupid. the bad guys are the ones who tell her that she is too weak/immature/naive to do the things she wants to do, because she is fragile and needs protecting." and I watched this when I was nine years old and it resonated deep in a part of me that I couldn't articulate with words yet.

God the intricate pregame rituals the Centaurs could have... Shane and Ilya each give Luca Haas a face wash with their stinky hockey gloves before every game and Luca does kind of chub up in his pants from this and that rush gets him playing better. The first time Ilya did it as a joke/prank but Luca played so well that it ended up as a superstition and somehow Shane joined in too. Ilya and Troy have a silent but complicated handshake sequence. Dykstra has to shake his ass exactly nine times while the team chants the lyrics to Drop It Like It's Hot. Shane and Bood do what is essentially Lamaze breathing with their buckets pressed together for like a full thirty seconds. Every single person has to give Wyatt a butt slap and a head bonk before the game or the game WILL go to shit.

Dillon Holmberg and Young bark at each other because they've all got that DAWG in em. Tanner Dillon I know nothing about you as a character but you are now my Brandon Duhaime stand in and you make your entrance barking on all fours.

Reporters ask if it's weird being in the Centaurs locker room because they are angling to get the players to say something negative about Shane, Ilya and Troy, but they are all talking about how the weirdest thing is that Tanner Dillon is always barking but they really love that and it really hypes the team up when he eats the cards after reading the starting lineup.

La Pointe is always stark naked under his pads and refuses to wear a shirt or anything but teeny tiny slut shorts and slides when he has to be out of his gear but still on camera, for media availability or an interview or something.

Nick Chouinard adds a single skittles into the hollow of one of his backup hockey sticks before every game, and empties them out and eats them at the end of every season. The stick has to travel with the other backup sticks but the equipment managers have to make sure that it's never actually handed to him as a replacement when he breaks a stick during a game. The team call it the skittles stick and they rattle it before every single game. Chouinard got himself a sponsorship with Skittles after a video about it went viral.

to people who are me I do think if eddie actually came out to buck, buck would make a move. not immediately, like i'd give him 2-5 business days of spiraling, but i do think buck isn't the type to sit around and pine when he knows there's a chance, and he's emotionally intelligent enough to know that there IS a chance here. if anything i think the main spiral isn't 'do I ask him out' so much as it's 'how do i ask him out in the bestest most worthy way possible.'

Reading a 271 fic from June 2025. I’m remembering this one vividly… but I don’t remember reading any RPF in the last year. ESPECIALLY HRPF I’m so confused.

At first maybe I thought it was a similar concept different fandom, but I got to this one scene that I KNOW I’ve read before.

it’s not weird to find fanfiction from 2021, or 2017, or 2014 that you’ve never read and actually taking your time to read it.

it’s not weird to love it and comment and leave kudos because the author will probably still see it someday and it will make them happy.

it’s not weird to like said author’s work so much that you want to go look for other fics from them.

it’s not weird to go through the authors profile and look for other fics from the ships you like (or maybe some that you’ll give a chance because you liked the author) and maybe bookmark them for later.

it’s not weird to read these other fics and like them too and comment on them because you actually like them and you want to let the author know.

it’s not weird to read fanfiction from 5, or 8, or 10 years ago and actually enjoy and engage with it because it’s perfectly normal to relate to something that’s less than a decade old!

let’s stop treating fanfiction like they’re instagram posts that stop being interesting in 24 hours! fanfiction is NOT social media, fanfiction is art!!! and art doesn’t get old in one day, one year, or even a decade!

read fanfiction! write fanfiction! comment on fanfiction! let’s not let fanculture die people!!!!!

Not only is it not weird, it is ACTIVELY ENCOURAGED. Authors LOVE IT when people do this!!! Its not "weird" and its not "neutral" -- its a fucking DELIGHT. Feel very absolutely free to read though an author's entire back catalogue, leaving kudos and/or comments along the way; we absolutely freaking love when someone does this. There is nothing more joyful than getting a comment notification for an old fic. It will make our day, I promise.

i NEED rose landry to come visit shane and ilya and subsequently meet the centaurs. i know they would be so embarrassing around her: wyatt asking all these nerdy questions about the x-squad movies, troy trying to suss out if she knows adrien dela cruz, and holmberg trying to shoot his shot.

but they aren’t ready for the force that is rose landry. she matches their freak at every beat. and most importantly, she makes shane hollander hilarious. he’s drinking, he’s gossiping, he’s giggling, he’s divulging things about his and ilya’s sex life that he would never tell the centaurs alone.

and once the rose landry leaves with shane and ilya, harris is like, “wow, never thought i’d see shane hollander queen out. good for him.”
