Ginger Root Project Spell
A little kitchen charm to for when your projects have gone stagnant and need a little wake-up.
Cut a few rounds of ginger root and drop them in a cup of hot water, letting the roots steep.
Dip your fingers into the ginger water and flick the droplets onto whatever has gone stagnant. (Take care with electronics and the like!)
Say, "Take your roots, grow with speed. Give this project the fire it needs."

I ended up having a really interesting conversation with some people at the bus stop today. They were getting out of some sort of ‘clean and sober’ meeting and had starting saying how they were so bored because they didn’t have anything to do, and had to stay at home because all their old friends would pull them back. So I said something like, ‘So this is the time to do all the stuff your parents told you they didn’t have money/time for!’ “Whatcha mean?” “You know, like when you were five and you REALLY wanted to have that toy or do that thing and you were like, ‘Please mom please I gotta have this I gotta go do this’ and they went ‘Hell no you think I’m paying for that do you want to goddamn EAT?’ “ And this light went on in their eyes. The lady is going to go check thrift stores for an Easybake Oven and I told her about Wilton cake decorating classes. The dude is going to Griffith Park and ride horses, because, ‘I always wanted to be a cowboy, and you can’t drink when you’re on a horse ‘cause you’ll fucking die!’ Fuck it. This is what being an adult is. Sure it’s bills and work and relationships, but damn it, it’s also time to do the things you LIKE. I signed up for a free class/lecture on Water Gardens. I’m going. On Saturday I said to my partner, as I have said for months, "A ten thousand dollar a year raise would solve so many of my problems."
As of this morning I was reluctantly looking for jobs because I love my job and don't want to leave it, but see: $10k raise problem solver.
As of noon today this was no longer an issue, because my boss called me with the news that I was getting a $10K merit raise.
I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. This is roughly $200 extra per paycheck. Enough to pay off debt faster, rebuild my savings, and spend a weekend a month in Milwaukee getting obscenely laid. The sex I'm going to have on $200 extra per paycheck. You can't even.
May all of you get the $10K raise your soul has yearned for. And whatever level of sex you can be satisfied with for $200.

I find I am usually most drawn to my craft when I feel out of control and depressed and hopeless. The alure of the control and power that witchcraft gives is so strong sometimes but the craft is not a means to control. Just to put your influence, wishes, energies, hopes, etc out there. I can't magically change my life and circumstances, but I can put honey on my lips before a shower to draw more sweet words out of my lips. I can add a dash of cinnamon in my coffee for an extra boost. I can get my hands dirty to clean my energy. I can braid my hair and meditate on the energies of my ancestors. I can salt my floors and throw rose petals everywhere before sweeping to draw in more kindness and love.
Sure I can't change my whole life, but I can make small impacts where it matters most and I will forever be thankful for that. And those small changes are why I feel so called to practice when I'm so hopeless.

Transactional: everything has to be exactly 50/50 all the time, pay me back for the £5 sandwich or buy me something worth exactly £5, I refuse to make an effort for you if there’s nothing in it for me
Reciprocal: you were there for me when I needed help, and I’m going to do the same for you, it doesn’t matter if one of us needs more or is capable of less, because the point is not equivalent exchange but mutual care
