after inheritance idea i had
(DISCLAIMER: english is not my first language pls don´t kill me for my spelling)
okay so one day little ismira runs in the spine to play although she´s not allowed to but katrina is busy with work and roran is not home so they don´t notice
little ismira accidentally runs into a huge red dragon (THORN)
thorn is just like omg a tiny female human because humans themselves are cute already but CHILDREN !!! so he´s just amazed how adorable she is
and ismira is like wooooooow a dragon! but she´s not afraid or anything and just politely asks if she´s allowed to touch him
thorns of course let´s her and ismira is petting her like a dog
murtagh is somehow very wounded and tired so he can´t heal himself and he was trying to sleep but he wakes up, sees her and goes fuckfuckfuck
ismira is really excited “hello! is that your dragon? he´s very beautiful and nice! red is my favourite colour! my dress matches him! what´s his name?”
murtagh (socially akward and does not know how to handle kids) doesn´t know what to do because SHE`S JUST AN INNOCENT LITTLE GIRL !!??
thorn is convinced that nobody is going to believe her anway
so murtagh just goes “thorn”
“what a cool name! are you a dragon rider? what´s your name? do you know eragon and saphira? he´s my uncle! i am ismira!”
murtaghs mind just goes shitshitshit because roran and katrina will believe their daughter and they´re as good as dead
but ismira keeps talking and so she stays the afternoon and plays with thorn and tells murtagh funny stories and she promises to not tell anyone
when she comes home later she falls asleep immediately because she´s so exhausted
but the next morning she wakes up and “mommy you won´t believe what i did yesterday” and she tells katrina EVERYTHING and “mommy he needs our help, he´s wounded!”
because, murtagh darling, did you really think a four-year-old wouldn´t tell her mom about meeting a dragon ????
and katrina first doesn´t believe her but then ismira knows their names and what they look like and there is no other way she could know that so they go in the spine together
murtagh is getting ready to leave because he´s afraid someone else could see them
but then he sees katrina staring at him and he never met her before but he just knows who she is
“i swear i didn´t touch her! we didn´t hurt her! we just talked and she played with thorn! i am sorry, i-”
katrina just walks up to him and hugs him. eragon talked to her about him because she´s a good listener. she knows his story.
“in my family we stick together. we forgive each other and we help, if someone is in need. you and thorn are part of this family. our family. and i want you to know that you can ALWAYS come to us when you need something.”
murtagh did of course not cry some little tears
he doesn´t know what to say but he doesn´t need to say anything and so katrina takes care of his wounds and give them food while ismira plays with thorn
murtagh finally whispers a thanks and katrina just smiles softly
“if you need anything else you can come home with us”
but they need to go so they pack their bags
and my mommy told me you´re eragons brother so you´re also my uncle and so you´re invited to all my birthday parties
i´d like to repeat that murtagh did of course not cry because he realises that he has a loving and caring family
he whispers to himself “i don´t deserve that” but katrina hears him and answers “that´s right. you deserve so much more than that.”
murtagh and thorn fly away and katrina and ismira wave them goodbye and as soon as they´re gone “you´re in big trouble, young lady! going in the spine all alone!”
