“You’d be surprised.” Louis shrugged. “Curiosity killed the cat and all. There’s also that thing where if you tell someone something is hot and that they shouldn’t touch it, they’ll still put their hand on it to see just how hot it is.” He told the other, “So I wouldn’t say it would be a stupid thing to potentially do, more like a human thing.”

“I’m quite partial to the elderflower flavored ones,” Dominique shrugged in response to her brother as they went through the drink menu and debated their options. “They have alcoholic and non-alcoholic options depending on what you fancy of course. I think I’m going to have this one though,” she tapped her finger upon the laminated list. “And you?”

“You know, I feel like elderflower shouldn’t be such a popular taste and yet it is and I totally get it.” He pointed out, eyes scanning over the menu. “I think we deserve to be a little wild and go for something boozy, don’t you think?” He wiggled his brows slightly with a smile, “This one is Violet flavoured apparently, I’m intrigued and not just because it sparkles before you say anything. I want to know what Violet tastes like.”

“Poison oak.” Louis replied smoothly, as though he didn’t have a sample of a toxic plant just sitting out in the open. “I was about to put a little sign out to warn people not to come to close to it but you came in contact before I got it finished.”

“I was just leaning against the– oh no,” she winced, retracting her hand after her brother’s followup warning with dread. “Do I even want to know what I just touched? Or maybe I should just amputate this hand? The later will probably be the safest option, yeah?”

“Okay, I think the call for hand amputation is a little bit dramatic, don’t you think.” Louis commented, already rummaging through his bag for some sanitising wipes to hand over to the other. “Though, for the sake of our relationship and for the rest of your day to go on smoothly, I think it’s best for me not to tell you what you’ve just put your hand in.”

“Because it’s happened more times then I can count.” He couldn’t help but chuckle, “I mean, I get it- I really do. You see something like this out in the wild and within touching distance and you’re just sort of drawn to it like a Magpie to a shiny object. But just because it’s alluring doesn’t mean it’s not dangerous. In fact, most alluring things are, it’s a great predation tactic really.”

“Oh I–” Luke drew his hand back, alarmed by the other’s warning before looking at his hand as though it were going to spontaneously ignite into flames. “Wait… why? What… what did I just touch?” he furrowed his brow, concern written on his features. There was still plenty about the wizarding world he didn’t know and if there were candies that could give you nosebleeds, who knew what could happen to his hand.

“Mandrake. Young too.” Louis commented, moving the pot out of the others reach for the sake of himself and everyone else that was standing in their radius. “You’re not going to spontaneously combust or anything, don’t worry. But you know what Mandrakes are like at this age, anything too alarming or jarring and we’d all be the floor, passed out in seconds.”

“What is it?” Alexus couldn’t help but ask, unsure of what it was she was looking at. Things like this still fascinated her because everything seemed so new to her but she appeared to be heeding the males advice.

“I mean, they’re bones from what I believe to be a pygmy shrew.” Louise commented, looking from his book, to the bones and then back to the other again. “But I obtained them from owl pellets and they haven’t been washed all that thoroughly, hence why I have on gloves and that I’ve kept them sat in a tray.”

If it’s the case I have to say that I really respect the creativity of your tactic,” she laughed, obviously just teasing but she also knew she could get overly passionate about things too.

“Okay, but I think you have this all wrong.” Louis pointed out to the other with a small wave of his hands, “I brought you here, to the good food, in hopes that you could talk my ear off about Occamys.” He explained. “You started and I had a feeling this was probably going to turn into a pretty long conversation that could then delve off into other magical creatures so I thought a seat and some food would be a good idea.”

“I wouldn’t get too close if I were you,” Florence noticed someone who’d approached the carrier that contained a fantastic beast inside. “What’s in there can seem pretty cute, but it could bite a finger off if it wanted to,” she warned gently, knowing it would be their own fault if something happened but she didn’t want to risk it all the same.

Louis couldn’t help but chuckle at the others words, “Having a bit of a bad day now, is it?” He couldn’t help but comment, staying where he was but moving into a squat so he could get a better look at what was inside the carrier. “I don’t doubt they could bite my finger off, it’s a good defensive mechanism and is what has probably lead them to not becoming extinct or endangered.” He rattled on. “And yet, I still feel it’s worth the risk having at least a little look because I really can’t help myself when it comes to fantastic beasts and animals.”
