@loveless-lacey
Juliette was very close with her sister when they were younger, but everything fell apart as they got older. Especially once the two of them now lived with Zora, it was much worse than it ever had been. The brunette has made multiple attempts to reach out to Lacy, but every time she has been shut down. Even still, she refuses to give up. She loves her sister. All she does differently is try not to push her buttons. Juliette has always had the habit of being the curious cat, and it’s always been a bad thing when it came to Lacy. She paused picking up the files and set the ones she had grabbed already in her lap. “Well…I don’t know. The nurses just gave them all to me right away and told me to get it done. I guess I didn’t think of that…” Her lips pursed as her eyebrows came together, thinking the situation over. “Hey!” There’s the enthusiastic side. “If you wouldn’t mind helping me quick in carrying these, I can help you get that box up in the attic? These files just need to go in that room behind you.” How could you say no to that smile?
"The nurses are shitheads." She retorted bluntly, an expression of detest marking her intricate features. Her sister's suggestion was probably the last thing Lacey would even consider doing. She loved Juliette to the very end of oblivion, but in short, she was a nuisance. Her ample happy go lucky attitude was parallel to that of her own, and because of that, they frequently clashed.
In all though, the box was already a problem for Lacey. It was heavy, and carrying it up the flight of stairs was quite the workout. Now she had to get it up the narrow attic steps and it didn't take an idiot to figure out how arduous of a task that was to be. "I...Oh, fine." She muttered, trying her best not to seem to irritated, though she never quite mastered that ability. "Let me see—" Swiftly, she kneeled down and swiped up the remaining files, stacking them into her arms and finally returning to a stand. "Lead the way, twerp."
"No, not at all." She drawled, letting her Southern accent emerge just slightly. Her eyebrow was cocked, arms crossed against her chest as she leaned against the wall, the red ball stopped at her foot. She grinned a crooked little grin, "Who might you be, Red?"
A breath of relief parted from her as she became more at ease with the person responsible for startling her. The atmosphere of the attic didn't seem to help much, but it wasn't as if the rest of the house was any better. "Lacey." She responded, unfazed by the nickname. "Sorry but—do you usually sneak up on people like that? You freaked me the hell out."
Juliette had been carrying a bunch of files that the nurses had wanted her to bring to the record room. This hospital was becoming more and more crowded with patients, so the stack was quite large- enough to tower over her face. Given the girls nutritious habit of being clumsy, she was worried about having this job. Not to mention she wasn’t that strong. She had almost reached her destination when she suddenly clashed with another person, the files falling out of her arms and onto the floor. Thank god each of them were tied shut with clamps. The nurses don’t trust her that much. “Oh my gosh! I’m so sorry, I-” She paused as she finally got a good look at who it was she bumped into. “Oh…Hi, Lacy. I’m really sorry about that.. I couldn’t see you. I’ll just get these.” And with that she bent down and started to gather the files back into her arms.
It didn't require much use on Lacey's deduction skills to figure out who the voice belonged to. Much less, the intense bombshell of clumsiness. With an exasperated sigh she darted her gaze away, trying to avoid as much contact as her sister as possible. "It's fine. Whatever." Common apathy coated her words, which was typical when it came to Juliette or even Zora. Granted, she had been getting better at dodging them around the hospital, but every now and then she'd be forced to interact. "Why are you carrying them all at once anyway? You'd actually be able to see if you only brought a few in multiple trips." There was a distinct bitterness she often reverted to when it came to her sister as of late. Most of the time, it wasn't intentional unless the girl would pry into her life with an onslaught of inquiries. Only then would she become irritable and result in another argument. However this time, she was only trying to be helpful, but it didn't seem to sound that way.
Nate took careful steps through the hallway of the hospital. He wasn’t supposed to be out of his room — rather his tomb — but he was hoping to sneak out for a cigarette or something along those lines. But when he saw the stairs to the attic had been pulled own, curiosity peaked, he wondered who had gone up there and why. Climbing the stairs as quietly as he could, Nate poked his head through the entryway, pulling himself up. Though apparently he’d been to quiet for the other person in the attic to hear. It was a girl, as he’d heard the small voice come from deeper in the small space. Then they collided. Only slightly. He took a step backwards before smiling. “Me? Do I mind? What about you, who the hell are you?”
This stranger had succeeded in throwing off Lacey. It was very seldom that she ran across others in her brief trips to the attic. Occasionally she'd hear rustling off in the other end, but for the sake of her sanity, she'd brush it off and leave as quickly as possible. "Lacey." The youth retorted matter-of-factly as she kept her gaze fixed on the boy now. Still a bit shaken, a subtle exhale parted from her rose-tinted lips and to put herself at ease, she ran her dainty fingers through her silken lockes. "What about you? Who the hell are you?" She mocked with playfulness in her demeanor, though it was very faint. "What are you even doing up here? Isn't it basic human instinct to stay away from dark, creepy places? Hell, I don't even want to be up here but..." A pause as her shoulder shrugged. "Some of the workers here are as lazy as it gets."
With a huff, the youth set down the cardboard box one of the orderlies had requested her to carry to the attic. As per usual, she wanted nothing more than to tell him to carry it up himself ever so kindly being that it would have been much easier for him, but odds were that the news of disobedience would run back to her aunt and result in another lecture. "Shit's heavier than it looks." She muttered to herself before turning to bump into a figure. She let out a quick gasp, drawing two steps back from already being on edge and gave the visitor a quick once over. "Jesus Christ, do you mind?"
↳ LACEY CALLOWAY | 23 | LIVING | FC: MELISSA BENOIST | TAKEN
“I don’t know who I am, or what I’m becoming and that scares me so much.”
↳ WE ALL HAVE A STORY:
February 2nd, 1996 — Present
Lacey’s childhood was never one to complain much about. It was relatively typical — that consisting of two loving parents, and a sister who she had always cared for. At a younger age, she always had a phenomenal sense of creativity. One that could not be doused with a common put down, or reject. Much like her sister, she was cheerful and a strong optimist. It wasn’t until the age of nineteen that things began to go downhill for her.
It started with her first long term boyfriend, Evan. As per usual with most teenagers, she fell in love, believing anything that dripped from his lips and did anything he asked. Including losing her virginity. About two years into their relationship, she became pregnant. Afraid of what her parents would think, she avoided telling anyone about the growing ‘parasite’ inside of her, and had an abortion. She was instantly swarmed with regret, and though it depressed her, she kept a forced smile up for everyone. It didn’t take her long to tell Evan about what had happened, because the last thing she wanted was a relationship that consisted of lies. Much to her dismay, he became furious about her actions, or so she thought. He had used it as an excuse to end the relationship, as he had been cheating on her with one of her friends, only she came to realize this about a year later as that friend informed her due to her own guilt. To this very day, her abortion remained a secret. Not even her sister is aware. At the age of twenty-three, her parents had began to have marital issues as her father had confessed to having an affair with a co-worker on several occasions. He claimed each time was caused to being drunk, but that didn’t stop her mother from becoming embraced with depression that she tried to numb with alcohol, just like Lacey had long ago. It took months, but they came to the decision to salvage their marriage, and take counseling. They were shamed by their behavior, and sent their two daughters to live with their aunt, Zora, in the heart of L.A.
Lacey had not taken the news as well as Juliette had. Infidelity was something that always bothered her, and just the fact that her mother was willing to work things out with her pig of a father infuriated her. To spite them, she gave into poor habits of alcohol and drug consumption while she had supposedly been hanging out with friends. Instead of successfully poking at their nerves, she ended up developing a bit of an addiction that she can no longer help, and now, she’s become nothing but a confused and even frightened girl. She tries to hide everything from her aunt and sister and so far she’s managed to do well, but who knows how long she can keep it hidden. Time is beginning to unravel her, and she often feels as though she’s close to breaking. Doing volunteer work at the hospital keeps her mind busy, but it’s after hours that really begin to consume her with the daily urges to give into her vices.
↳ DON'T BE SURPRISED, WHEN THEY'RE:
Lacey can be caring and warm-hearted if she truly wants to, but ever since her past issues, she’s began to shut herself in, often alienating herself from the rest. She can sometimes seem rude, but only because she’s afraid of getting close to people, as her trust has been abused before. She tries to revert back to her former content self, but it seems as though she’s lost hope.
↳ THEY'RE ALL CONNECTED:
ZORA MOON→ Lacey tries to avoid her aunt, even though she knows for a fact that she only cares for her two nieces. She sneaks around as best as she can, but when confrontation comes around, she plays off that she’s just as happy wig her life as Juliette, which has worked for now, but it won’t be long before Zora becomes suspicious.
JULIETTE CALLOWAY→ Lacey has always adored her little sister more than anyone. Her optimism never failed to cheer up the girl no matter what situation, and up until recently, they had been closer than ever. She has tried to fight telling her sister about how she really feels, but her strange behavior has ignited concern in Juliette, which she shoots down with rude and even hurtful remarks. She often feels terrible for acting poorly with the one person whom she loves more than anything, but it’s what keeps her secrets in the dark, and she’ll do anything to keep it that way.
LOGAN HALE→ Logan has quickly become her ‘go-to’ for a quick fix. They indulge together, and despite being a bit soft on him, she’d hate to get hurt again. She’ll never openly admit her feelings, even to herself.
CHAD WARWICK→ Chad Warwick has become a father figure to her, strangely enough. He’s the one person who knows about her hurt and pain that was cursed upon her from the infidelities that have happened to and around her. As he can easily relate, he has found it in himself to make sure she doesn’t become hurt like he once had.
